🇷🇺 🇸🇦 Record number of sessions with Russian participation held at UN Internet Governance Forum in Riyadh

The event brought together about 7,000 people from more than 100 countries. The Russian delegation at IGF 2024 was headed by Russian Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Andrei Zarenin.

Participants discussed the following issues:
🔹 technological sovereignty of developing countries;
🔹 combating digital neocolonialism;
🔹 protection of children in the digital environment;
🔹 cybersecurity, etc.

The Roscongress Foundation repeatedly raises the topics of Internet governance and digital development on its platforms. In 2025, the Foundation plans to increase the number of sessions devoted to the development of the Internet, including the Russian segment.

“We would be happy if the participants of the Internet Governance Forum take an active part in these discussions on our platforms. Moreover, we are waiting for the representatives of the Global South, whose voice is getting louder every year. Next year, SPIEF will precede the IGF 2025 in Norway, and we believe that this is a great chance to have preliminary discussions of all IGF topics in St. Petersburg with our foreign partners and business,”

said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the Russian President.

In 2024, the Roscongress Foundation reaffirmed its status as a key development institution aimed at promoting national interests in various fields and strengthening Russia’s image.

“Over the past year, the Fund’s international brand Roscongress International has consistently worked to shape and highlight issues of the Russian and global agendas, develop and strengthen international ties, and scale up Russia’s interaction with foreign partners. The plans for next year include developing more than 20 discussion platforms to conduct equal and constructive dialogue with all stakeholders,”

Vladimir Putin sent greetings to guests and participants of XVII Verona Eurasian Economic Forum

✉️ The message reads, in part:

“The geography of the event, which gathers representatives of government agencies, big business, academics, and experts, continues to expand. This year, it is being held for the first time in the United Arab Emirates, in the ancient and beautiful city of Ras Al Khaimah. The theme of the current forum is ‘New Cooperation Architecture for Contemporary Economy.’ It fully reflects the growing demand for transforming the system of international economic relations in the interests of the global majority.”

The President of Russia emphasized that the outdated model benefiting a small group of countries needs to be replaced with a new one based on genuine equality, justice, respect for each other’s legitimate interests, and eliminating all forms of discrimination, diktat, and sanctions pressure.

Vladimir Putin noted that these principles form the basis of BRICS activities, and an increasing number of members of the global community support them, “including our neighbors on the Eurasian continent.”

He also expressed hope that the initiatives put forward at the forum will help expand multifaceted cooperation between the countries and peoples of Eurasia.

🚙 The star of the Soviet automobile industry functions as a modern electric car!

The green car produced in 1967 attracts a lot of people at the Young Scientists Congress venue. Guests and participants want to look closer at the development of Skoltech, the Center for Intelligent Robotic Systems and partners — a platform for testing modern algorithms and technologies for controlling electric vehicles based on the ZAZ-965 model.

The car is also equipped with a hybrid energy system developed at Skoltech with a supercapacitor block at its core. Given the trend towards electric mobility, the product can be used in vehicles that require additional power or battery charge support at a certain maximum power.

EAEU — ASEAN trade turnover projected to exceed $30 billion by end of 2024

📊 For comparison, by early 2018, it amounted to approximately $20 billion. This was stated by Eldar Alisherov, Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at the World of Opportunities: Russia – ASEAN business forum.

“For us, ASEAN is a strategic direction for cooperation. Everyone understands this perfectly. Platforms like today’s are precisely the result of this cooperation. This year, we have already held three full-scale business dialogues, including at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum,” Alisherov emphasized.

Total trade volume of ASEAN countries is expected to increase by $1.2 trillion over next decade

📊 ASEAN includes 10 countries that vary greatly in their GDP size and income level. Together, they currently make up the fifth-largest economy in the world. By 2030, it is expected to become the fourth.

These are quite realistic forecasts, given that the association’s GDP grew by an average of 4.5% per year in 2010–2023. ASEAN is actively developing ties with international organizations and political and trade associations, continuing to integrate into the world economy amid global fragmentation. Since 2018, the region has increased its share of foreign direct investment inflows, global exports and global value added. Thus, Russia is expanding cooperation with the bloc countries in the areas of trade, investment, energy, agriculture, digitalization and tourism.

EAEU — ASEAN cooperation holds immense potential across various sectors, including tourism, agriculture, industry, and others. The prospects for collaboration were actively discussed at SPIEF 2024.

“We see opportunities to increase exports to ASEAN countries. This includes not only the familiar categories of energy resources and metals but also food products. Fertilizers are a separate issue, and we hope they will occupy a more significant share of ASEAN markets. I would also like to emphasize that ASEAN is extremely important for us in terms of tourism,”

said Vladimir Ilyichev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, at one of the thematic sessions.

🗓 The discussion will now continue during the “EAEU — ASEAN” business dialogue at the World of Opportunities forum, which will take place in Malaysia on 26–27 November.
