Mortal mind cannot conceive of the intense bitter anguish and pain that must have descended on the innocent Sacrifice, for in bearing the sins of humanity that holy Man was made sin for us as the floodgates of God's wrath were poured out upon Him in all its holy fullness. No wonder He cried out, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?"
And yet He knew the answer. It was for the redemption of the human race that He had to be forsaken so tragically. It was for this reason that He was born into His own creation and for this reason that He died for the sin of the world. Praise God that Jesus our precious Saviour and Kinsman~Redeemer drank the Father's bitter cup to its dregs so that you and I who believe on His name, would not perish but have eternal life with Him.

Lee & Nita with Pastor Brett today at Calvary Chapel Palm Harbor, Florida
The Lord Jesus grew up before God like a tender shoot which pushed its way up through the parched ground. To those who rejected Him, He has no stately form or majesty that they should look up to Him and honour Him, nor was His outward appearance anything that attracted them to Himself. But those of us who have trusted Christ for salvation and are being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ cry out with reverential fear: "Hallelujah!! What a Saviour!!"

We are warned against being controlled by anger or wrath, jealousy or envy, and we are also warned against being ruled or governed by an excess of wine. We are not to be drunk with wine, because it leads to much that is dishonouring to the Lord. Rather, we are to be ruled or governed by the Holy Spirit Who brings forth love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self~control.
Let us not be drunk with wine or controlled by any other substance or emotion that discredits our Heavenly Father, but let us go on being filled, day by day, with the Holy Spirit of God so that we may manifest the grace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit in our lives, today and throughout the rest of our time on earth.

Like Abraham, we are all not only called to be saved by faith but also to live by faith, even though we may not understand some of the painful circumstances we are called to undergo. James encourages us to consider the various trials we encounter as a joy, knowing that the testing of our faith produces endurance and develops godly patience which causes us to grow more and more like our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
May we remember the beautiful picture of Abraham's offering of his only begotten son and give thanks to God that He was ready and willing to sacrifice His only begotten Son on the Cross for our redemption.

Like the readers of John's epistle, we have the indwelling Holy Spirit. We are positioned in Christ, by faith in Him. We have the mind of Christ. What a privilege to have the unction of the Holy One of God, Who comforts and corrects, teaches and encourages, guides us into all truth, and carries out all the experiential ministries of the Holy Spirit, in the lives of all believers, during this Church age.

Being still in the presence of God is not a sulky silence or hushed murmuring, but is simply resting in Him, trusting in His Word of truth, abiding in His love, and being content to await His timing. It is to possess a purposeful patience and not to display a glum resignation. When we are quietly resting in His presence and secure in the hope that is set before us, the peace of God which passes understanding will flood the heart and soul of all who walk godly in Christ Jesus.
So be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for Him to act.

JESUS was the pure Message from God, as well as the Messenger of the New Covenant. He came to the lost sheep of the House of Israel to cut the New Covenant in His blood. He came with a message of repentance, which Israel refused to hear. But, to the faithful remnant of those who believed, the Lord Jesus was sent by God at the appointed time: "As many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become sons of God."
Jesus did suddenly come to His Temple, just as Malachi claimed, and one day in the future, He will return once more ~ suddenly.

God's gracious plan of redemption was formulated in eternity past and began to be played on the world scene when Adam sinned. God loved the world so much that in His goodness and grace He purposed to save ALL Who would trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ and it is fitting that the final sentence in God's book of redemption should be:

"The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen."

This was the most important day of Pilate's life. His hour of grace had come. The King of Love was teaching Pilate that everyone who responds to His voice and accepts that Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, will not be condemned. But the one who rejects the Truth of His Word is condemned already.
Did Pilate respond to Christ's offer of salvation? Maybe! Did he hear the truth and believe on the Lord Jesus? Maybe! The more important question is have we heard His voice and are we willing to testify to the truth? As Paul wrote in his first letter to Timothy: "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."
