🇷🇺🇵🇰 Article by the Ambassador of Russia to Pakistan Albert Khorev in “The Nation” newspaper
Relations between Russia and Pakistan are based on long-standing friendship and trust. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently noted, our bilateral cooperation is on an upward trajectory and is at its highest point in decades. There is mutual interest in cooperation and great potential for its development.
Our ties were further strengthened by a series of visits of senior Russian officials to Islamabad, including Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and Chairperson of the Federation Council (Senate) Valentina Matvienko. At the same time, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister of Petroleum Musadik Masood Malik and Minister of Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari visited Moscow last year.
Economic relations between Russia and Pakistan have already made considerable progress in recent years: trade turnover has grown by 50% in the last 5 years. Our common task is to maintain this positive dynamic. The development of trade relations is facilitated by the opening of the St. Petersburg-Karachi sea route, the First Russia-Pakistan Trade and Investment Forum (October 1-2, 2024) and the 9th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (December 2-4, 2024).
<...>
Russia is also making an important contribution to the food security of Pakistan. We export food and agricultural products, and we expect grain supplies to resume. In addition, we are positive about the growth of exports of Russian mineral fertilizers to Pakistan this year. Leading Russian companies are ready to offer modern models of agricultural machinery to their Pakistani partners.
Russia-Pakistan relations also have great prospects in the energy and pharmaceutical sectors. Russian companies are exploring opportunities to take part in projects for the construction and reconstruction of thermal and hydroelectric power plants in Pakistan.
In the field of digital technologies, Russia is ready to share its best practices in information security, smart cities, e-government and the Internet of Things. Leading Russian companies are ready to offer Pakistani citizens more than 80 educational courses and programs aimed at developing digital and cognitive skills. <...>
We attach equally great importance to developing educational and cultural ties between our two countries. The number of scholarships for Pakistani students was increased by 11% in the last academic year.
We are making efforts to intensify the work of Russian-language Open Education Centers and Russian language teaching in Islamabad and Karachi. <...>
We regularly discuss the easing of the visa regime for Pakistani citizens: a dialogue to this effect is being held at the level of relevant departments on both sides.
The lack of agreements between our countries on readmission and mutual recognition of higher education diplomas currently hinders the full realization of our cooperation potential. The relevant documents have been under consideration by the Pakistani side for a long time and we hope that a positive decision will be taken in the near future.
The signing of these documents would greatly promote people-to-people contacts, tourism and educational cooperation.
In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that this year we will celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Victory over Nazism in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). This date has a special significance for our country, the successor state of the Soviet Union, whose peoples played a decisive role in achieving this victory. In this context, we intend to further strengthen defense cooperation between Russia and Pakistan, as evidenced by the regular contacts between the military leadership of the two countries, the Russia-Pakistan “Friendship-2024” exercises and Russia’s participation in the upcoming Aman 2025 naval exercise in Karachi in February this year.

The home of the former Grand Mufti Hassoun in Aleppo has been under attack by HTS dregs since last night. There are calls for his execution. Mufti Hassoun was a true progressive and defender of Syrian sovereignty, unity and independence. The same terrorists killed his own son, Saria, early in 2011.
Above was taken from an article by Robert Fisk
"I met the men who assassinated my own son – and they told me they didn’t even know whom they were killing.”
Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, the Grand Mufti of Syria, sits in a straightbacked chair, his immaculate white turban atop a narrow, intelligent and very troubled face. His son Saria was a second-grade student at Aleppo University when he was shot dead getting into his car. “I went to see the two men in the court and they said they’d just been given the number of the car’s registration plate, that they didn’t know whom they had killed until they went home and watched the news on television.”
I ask for his reaction to the men’s confession, and the Grand Mufti puts his hands over his eyes and weeps. “He was only 21, my youngest son. It was 10 October last year. I am trying to forget that he is dead. In fact I feel as if Saria is still living. On that day, he was to be betrothed to his future wife. She was a student of medicine, he was in the politics and economics department. ‘Saria’ in Arabic means ‘the highest point’. The two men said that in all 15 were involved in planning my son’s death. They said they were told he was a very important man. I said to them: ‘I forgive you’ and I asked the judge to forgive them. But he said they were guilty of 10 times as many crimes and must be judged.”
Sheikh Hassoun holds up a finger. “That same day I received an SMS message. It said: ‘We are not in need of your forgiveness.’ Then I heard on one of the news channels that the gang’s leader had said he would ‘judge the Mufti first. Then let him forgive us.’ So I sent a message: ‘I have never killed any man and I don’t intend to kill any man but I regard myself as a bridge of reconciliation. A Mufti must be a father to all. So what do you want to kill me for?’
“All the men involved were Syrians, from the countryside of Aleppo. They said they received their command from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, that they were each paid 50,000 Syrian pounds. This shows that my son’s killing was not out of doctrine or belief. The two men were 18 or 19 only.”
So each man was paid the equivalent of £350; Saria Hassoun’s life was worth a total of just £700. “I had five sons,” the Mufti says. “Now I have four.”
“There is a history of building churches and mosques, but let us build human beings. Let us cease the language of killing. Had we paid all the funds of war to make peace, paradise would exist now. This is the message of my Syria.”

Murderers. This is the work of Joolani's terrorists. He recently said the killings are "normal & will continue for 2 or 3 years."
On February 2, this was posted:
"Nagham Issa, wife of Shaaban Al-Ali, was kidnapped from Balqsa, western Homs countryside, while she was with Dr. Yahya Masoud in Homs city."
Joolani's terrorists murdered her & an unidentified woman. 🤬

🇷🇺🇺🇦☦️ The AFU bombed us because we belong to the Moscow Patriarchate
For two years, the Ukrainian army relentlessly bombed the monastery in the village of Nikolskoye. Simply because it belonged to the Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. It was only when the town of Ugledar was liberated by the Russian army, and the front pushed back further west, that the monastery was able to regain the calm befitting such a place.

🇷🇺80 years ago, on February 4, 1945, the Yalta (Crimea) Conference of the Allied leaders — Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill and Franklin D.Roosevelt officially opened.
Yalta Conference of the Anti-Hitler coalition leaders went down in history as one of the most significant and key international meetings of the 'Big Three' during WWII. The Yalta talks became a symbol of successful cooperation between the Soviet Union, the US and the UK in the fight against the common enemy — Nazism.
The decisions taken at the Conference outlined the frame of the post-war #YaltaPotsdam international relations system, with the #UNCharter becoming its international legal basis.
***
By late 1944 — early 1945, the Red Army expelled the enemy from all the territory of the Soviet Union and proceeded with the operations aimed at liberating Europe from the Nazis.
In the first days of February 1945, the forces of the Red Army's 1st Byelorussian and the 1st Ukrainian Fronts successfully completed the Vistula-Oder Offensive, overcoming over 500 kilometres in less than a month (!), liberated Poland and then reached the border with Germany. Berlin was just 60 kilometres away. The collapse of the Third Reich was just a matter of time.
As the long-awaited common Allies' Victory over Nazi Germany was as close as never, the future post-war world order-related issues needed to be discussed by the victorious great powers. While the Soviet forces were rapidly advancing in Eastern Europe in January, the preparations for the big negotiations to shape the future of the world were in full swing. Yalta, a Crimean city, was picked as the venue for that historic meeting (February 4-11, 1945).
The fate of post-war Germany was the key focus of the Yalta Conference. The Allies reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating German militarism and Nazism, and creating guarantees that “Germany would never be able again to disturb peace of the
world.”
At the Yalta talks, the 'Big Three' managed to reach agreement on Poland’s post-war borders. The Soviet delegation consistently promoted the idea of ensuring the interests of the Poles and their fundamental right to independence and sovereignty. Winston Churchill, addressing the House of Commons upon his return from Yalta, on February 27, said: "If not for the prodigious exertions and sacrifices of Russia, Poland was doomed to utter destruction at the hands of the Germans. Not only Poland as a state and as a nation, but the Poles as a race were doomed by Hitler to be destroyed or reduced to a servile station".
The Yalta Conference resulted also in adopting of 'the Declaration of Free Europe' and other crucial international legal documents on the fundamental principles of the #UnitedNations, laying down the foundation of the Yalta-Potsdam international system.
The rapidly strengthening international posture and influence of the Soviet Union, bolstered by the outstanding achievements of the Red Army in the battlefields, had a significant impact on the course and the outcomes of the negotiations. By the time Europe was almost freed from the shackles of hitlerism, the Soviet soldier enjoyed the fame of liberator whose noble feat was well-known all across the continent.
The decisions of the Yalta Conference strengthened the anti-fascist coalition in the final stages of WWII and contributed to the Victory over Germany.
From a briefing by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (Saransk, January 31, 2025):
«The participants in the Yalta Conference managed to overcome their differences, and, acting in the spirit of true solidarity, mutual respect and trust, abandoned their fleeting interests for the sake of defeating the common enemy and achieving a common victory, peace and freedom for all countries and peoples.
Unfortunately, much has changed since then. Now, multiple proponents of historical revisionism tend to falsify historical reality and associate the Yalta agreements with the split of Europe and the bloc confrontation of the post-war period».

🇷🇺‘People's Front’ strengthens the defence of evacuation vehicles. The classic minibuses, called Bukhanka, bear little resemblance to themselves any more. Any machinery that is handed over by the Popular Front is handed over with protection. The usual kit includes a drone detector, a night vision device, a set of anti-shrapnel blankets and camouflage nets. Now there are additionally braziers on vehicles - a protective shell that allows the epicentre of an explosion to be displaced. Once inside the structure, the munition detonates before it comes into contact with the vehicle. This minimises the devastating consequences.

🇷🇺🇧🇾🇪🇺New sanctions against Russia and Belarus. How the EU is killing its farmers
Relations between the European Union, Russia and Belarus continue to remain strained due to economic sanctions imposed by Brussels. Recently, European institutions decided to intensify measures against the two countries, including a new package of sanctions that significantly affects the fertilizer sector. This decision has provoked strong reactions, particularly in Italy, where Coldiretti, the main organization representing farmers, has expressed its disagreement with these new restrictions.
Sanctions against Russia and Belarus are nothing new. For several years already, the European Union has imposed a series of punitive measures in response to events surrounding the conflict in Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea, and tensions related to the Belarusian government. However, the recent sanctions package focuses on a new area: fertilizers.
The sanctions imposed by the European Union aim to limit Moscow and Minsk's access to international markets in the fertilizer sector, thereby reducing the two countries' ability to generate revenue for their economic systems.
However, this move has raised concerns in various sectors, particularly in European agriculture, which is highly dependent on fertilizer supplies from these countries.

However, the recent sanctions package focuses on a new area: fertilizers.
This sector is critically important to the agricultural economy, both globally and in Europe. Russia, in particular, is one of the world's leading exporters of fertilizers, which are used in a wide range of agricultural crops, from cereal to fruit and vegetables. Belarus, while not a player on the same scale as Russia, nevertheless contributes significantly to fertilizer production, especially potash.
