CAMPAIGN TO BAN MERCURY USE IN DENTISTRY - World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry

The NHS is running a public consultation to inform decision-making on the government’s 10 Year Health Plan for England. The National Health Service (NHS) England is looking for ways to improve its services.

Amalgam dental fillings are made of 50% mercury, a highly toxic substance linked to numerous health and environmental risks. Despite this, the UK still allows the use of mercury amalgam in public health programs. The European Union has already banned it.

Until 14 April, we have a unique opportunity to change that.

Dr. Graeme Munro-Hall, Chief Dental Officer of the World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry, has submitted a proposal to end the use of mercury in NHS dental care. We need your help to make this proposal a priority for the English authorities.

BREAKING NEWS: The Isle of Man’s Tynwald Legislative Council passed the Assisted Dying Bill (2023) on 25th March 2025, which could come into effect as early as 2027.

The bill was proposed by MHK Alex Allinson’s, and will permit assisted suicide for adults who have lived in the Isle of Man for at least five years, and who have “an inevitably progressive condition which cannot be reversed by treatment and as a consequence of that terminal illness, is reasonably expected to die within 12 months”.

The bill will now be sent for Royal Assent, making it the first parliament in the British Isles to take this step.

Assisted Dying Bill Update - Legal and Medical Analysis

Retired lawyer Clare Wills Harrison joined Dr Liz Evans to discuss the Assisted Dying Bill following the conclusion of the Committee Stage Hearings, with the 3rd reading and vote on 25th April.

They discussed serious holes in the bill, putting vulnerable people at risk of wrongful or coerced deaths, and the lack of important practical detail on the assisted dying process.

The proponents appeared unwilling to tighten or flesh out out the bill, rejecting 100s of sensible safeguarding amendments. As the bill stands, Ministers will be left with huge delegated powers to amend the bill without Parliamentary oversight or input.

In addition, families will have no right or route to lodge concerns and do not even have to be informed.

PUBLIC MEETING re Class Action on Water Fluoridation - BIRMINGHAM 11TH MARCH

"There have been several attempts to add fluoride to English drinking water since 2003 and Joy has been involved in each failed attempt. The current climate is more challenging with politicians trying to get the entire Nation fluoridated, and this has meant Joy exercising her coordination skills to the full.

Most recently (November 2024), FFAUK has decided to legally challenge the UK Government. A Barrister has been retained and the search is now on for claimants for a Class Action. People living in fluoridated areas and those areas threatened with fluoridation will qualify as claimants.

Conversations on the Assisted Dying Bill - Clare Wills Harrison and Amanda Hunter

In November 2024, Dr Liz Evans interviewed Clare Wills-Harrison (a retired lawyer of 25 years whose expertise is in working with elderly, sick and vulnerable clients and mental capacity) and Amanda Hunter (chair of the Together Health and Social Care cabinet and co-founder of Families Against Involuntary Medical Euthanasia and Unlock Care Homes) to discuss the Assisted Dying Bill and its ramifications.

Clare and Amanda raised important ethical, legal and practical issues with the bill, which will radically and permanently change the doctor-patient relationship. It poses a very serious threat to the sanctity and dignity of every human life and to medical ethics – abolishing the requirement that doctors ‘First do no harm’. No longer could an individual assume that the state, or their doctor, will act in his or her best interests. Instead, death would be recognised as a legitimate treatment for suffering.
