Some houses try to hide the fact that children shelter there;
Ours boasts of it quite openly, the signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows, little smudges on the doors.
I should apologise (I suppose) for toys strewn on the floors.
But I sat down with the children and we played and laughed and read,
And if the doorbell doesn't shine
their eyes will shine instead.
For when at times I'm forced to choose, the one job or the other,
I want to be a good housewife,
And still be a mother.

"A woman is capable of more sustained sacrifice than man. Man is more apt to be the hero in one great, passionate outburst of courage. But a woman is heroic through the years, months, and even seconds of daily life, the very repetition of her toils giving them the semblance of the commonplace. Not only her days but her nights, not only her mind, but her body, must share in the Calvary of Mothering. She, therefore, has a greater understanding of redemption than man, for she comes closer to death in bringing forth life."
Your daily existence as a mother is heroic, and never forget it.

How would you ever give unconditional love if you were married to someone who met all the conditions? How would you learn mercy, patience, longsuffering, heartfelt compassion if you were married to someone who never failed you, who never sinned against you, who was slow to acknowledge their sin or ask for forgiveness? How would you ever learn the grace to pour out your favour on someone who did not deserve it if you were married to someone who was always deserving of good things? The main purpose of marriage is, that through your marriage, you become conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.
