Just be careful before you totally give yourself over to them as some sort of idealistic reality.
They are often used to steer you to support something controversial by putting it forward as something that will make everyone live in a continuous state of bliss & happiness.

Developers South Lakes Housing will hold the public consultation event to share plans for a proposed new affordable housing development on the Nelson Street car park site.
Don't get too drawn in by the pretty artist's Impressions for the intent behind them is to draw you into a fantasy that this'll be some wonderful development you can't live without.
Remember, artist impressions are fantasy drawings/models etc. They can't predict how happy people will be no matter how pretty things look.

Why is Councillor Sue Tyldesley so keen to get housing developments? Has she got stakes in residential development corporations???

Seems this Council are quietly removing opportunities for independent businesses to start up or to locate to 😡

It's quite clear their intent otherwise they'd have refused permission for this & ordered the Councillor at fault to reverse what's been done.
It appears they have their own plan to remove things they do not want, regardless of what the community wants or needs.

- They apply for permission to remove or convert to residential.
- They don't wait for permission to be granted or refused.
- They start the work without permission so it makes conversion back difficult or costly 😡
Oh, and they fail to declare they're also a Ward Councillor...
Apparently being a local politician means you're above the law and normal rules, like permissions, don't apply 😡😡😡

Do they not want visitors to Lancaster anymore?
It's the equivalent of removing free parking from a town so it costs them more to visit thus discouraging people.
Logically though, if they want people locked in their 15min cities/neighbourhoods, naturally they'd want to discourage those outside of each area from visiting. Is this the real reason for this?
Or perhaps they want a justification to close/downsize the museums through lack of funding?
With their plans to develop the Canal Corridor site which will result in a massive loss of parking, it seems quite clear they don't want people from outside coming to visit anymore and will do everything they can to make it hard for people.

Same Strategy - A property/business is closed, left to stand empty with no upkeep. Then it's announced to convert to residential which will conveniently be the ONLY viable use.
Note the comment on the article:
"Just what the West End needs more flats NOT, it’s already a HMO ghetto without adding more..."
It's perfectly clear they're trying to pack as many residential units as possible into the area, but no new jobs or businesses.
"The proposals seek to retain all historic features of the building and are the least required in order to secure the sustainable long-term use and thus preservation of the building.”
As you can see once again, the building will look pretty which somehow justifies conversion to residential.
But once converted to residential, it will no longer be accessible to the general public. So who is this being preserved for exactly???
