'thinking good thoughts' is not enough, you must try to have impact. Also the easy and obvious compassion routes (giving money to the poor for instance) do not necessarily equal virtue. Eg: the skid row junkie turns around and spends your donation on fentanyl. You have therefore in that case only made a personal 'perfomance' of virtue and done nothing good in the world at all.

True virtue is not some easy matter of 'being nice' or 'charitable'. You have chiefly a twofold duty: reproduce and continue your bloodline, and create or leave something impactful that improves the lot of your people (art included). A corporate modern job (even a well paid one) with it's nihilistic or negative goals does not count.
