🇷🇺 В запрещенном в России, но ещё как разрешённом в Бразилии инстаграме завирусилось видео, с капибарой, танцующей самбу на улице Рио.
Появление оркестров вот с такой слегка чумоватой музыкой, кстати, верный признак приближающегося карнавала. Именно так по большей части и звучат уличные банды «блокус».
Шутят, что этот танец теперь новое историческое наследие 😄 Такая, блин, очаровательная дурка)) обожаю)
Популярность милого травоядного зверька, похожего на огромную морскую свинку, за последние годы очень выросла и приобрела, кажется, глобальный масштаб. Даже какие-то неизвестные российские музыканты выпустили песню «Капибара», которая на YouTube набрала 18 миллионов просмотров 😄
И вот я задумалась, какие животные могли бы представлять каждую из стран БРИКС? Вообще, с точки зрения визуальной коммуникации, это достаточно сильные образы, которые подчёркивают «характер» и позиционирование государства.
Ну, например, понятно, что символом России является медведь — он большой, сильный, грозный, но в то же время благородный, добрый, заботливый, обеспечивающий защиту. Не зря часто выступает в роли милого главного героя в русских сказках. Хотя, на самом деле, у России могли бы быть и другие символы.
Нас тут много, все из разных стран, но все так или иначе связаны или просто проявляются симпатии и интерес к БРИКС.
Мне кажется, интересно провести голосование, и узнать, с каким животным у нас ассоциируется каждая из стран Союза.

A popularidade desse simpático animal herbívoro, cresceu muito nos últimos anos e parece ter alcançado proporções globais. Até músicos russos desconhecidos lançaram uma música chamada “Capivara”, que já acumulou 18 milhões de visualizações no YouTube 😄
E isso me fez pensar: quais animais poderiam representar cada um dos países do BRICS? Do ponto de vista da comunicação visual, esses são símbolos poderosos que destacam o "caráter" e o posicionamento de cada nação.
Por exemplo, é claro que o símbolo da Rússia é o urso — grande, forte, imponente, mas ao mesmo tempo nobre, gentil, protetor e cuidadoso. Não é à toa que ele frequentemente aparece como herói fofo em contos russos. Embora, na verdade, a Rússia pudesse ter outros símbolos também.
Aqui estamos nós, de várias partes do mundo, todos de alguma forma ligados ou interessados no BRICS.
Acho que seria interessante fazer uma votação para descobrir com qual animal cada país do bloco é associado.

The appearance of orchestras playing this slightly quirky music, by the way, is a sure sign that Carnival is approaching. This is exactly how most street bands, the "blocos," sound.
Jokes are going around that this dance is now a new piece of historical heritage 😄 Such an adorable bit of madness, honestly — I love it!
The popularity of this cute herbivorous animal, which resembles a giant guinea pig, has skyrocketed in recent years and seems to have reached a global scale. Even some unknown Russian musicians released a song called "Capybara," which has already gained 18 million views on YouTube 😄
And this got me thinking: what animals could represent each BRICS country? From the perspective of visual communication, these are quite powerful symbols that highlight the "character" and positioning of a nation.
For example, it’s obvious that Russia’s symbol is the bear — large, strong, imposing, but at the same time noble, kind, protective, and caring. No wonder it often appears as a lovable protagonist in Russian fairy tales. Though, in reality, Russia could have other symbols as well.
Here we are, a diverse group from different countries, all somehow connected to or interested in BRICS.
I think it would be fun to conduct a poll to find out which animal is most associated with each country in the bloc.

🇧🇷 No Rio, a chuva deu lugar ao sol e eu não fui para a praia, mas corri para vestir meu novo uniforme, para logo pegar a bicicleta e pedalar ao longo do oceano.
Agora, a Agência para o Desenvolvimento de Cooperação Bilateral Rússia-Brasil tem sua própria equipe de corrida, composta por uma pessoa só 🙋🏼♀️😂
Não escolhi o caminho mais seguro para um ciclista solitário, cuja nacionalidade é visível a quilômetros de distância. Não é desconfortável só passar pelas favelas, mas sim quando você pedala por trechos de ciclovia onde não se vê ninguém até o horizonte.
Por causa da cúpula do G20 que está acontecendo agora, a cidade está cheia não só de policiais, mas também de militares, que apareceram no meu caminho aqui e ali. Cercados pela selva, os caras bronzeados olhavam para mim com interesse, enquanto eu observava suas armas, que, pelo visto, poderiam até derrubar um helicóptero, se necessário.
É um vibe tropical.
Não vou mais andar sozinha por aí, só em treinos em grupo com o clube local Rio Cycling. Mas estava com muita vontade de me alongar após o voo e renovar o bronzeado de ciclista, conforme o uniforme.
Também passei na praia hoje depois do trabalho. Ao longo da costa, há navios de guerra, com helicópteros de plantão pousando neles.

🇬🇧 BRICS Summit 2024: Has the Multipolar World Come Closer?
From an organizational perspective, everything went flawlessly. This week, Kazan hosted delegations from 35 countries and six international organizations, including the United Nations.
It is unfortunate that Brazilian President Lula could not attend due to an injury sustained just before the event. Turkish President Recep Erdoğan also had to leave urgently, as the Ankara bombing on the summit’s first day forced him to return home. Coincidence, or perhaps a message not to align with certain others? That remains speculation.
Many experts, including those from the West, anticipated that this summit would deliver a decisive blow to the American financial system, expecting the announcement of a unified currency or payment system for transactions in national currencies to bypass SWIFT and the dollar.
But, to the relief of skeptics, that hasn’t happened yet.
It's important to remember that BRICS is an alliance of very different countries, each with its own national interests.
For example, the main "brake" on launching alternative financial instruments to those of the West is India, which does not want to entirely sever ties with the U.S. Among other things, the U.S. serves as a counterbalance in India’s longstanding tense relationship with China.
Some believe Brazil is also hesitant in this process, as it strives to maintain balance in its Western relations. Politically and economically, Brazil is heavily dependent not only on China and Russia but also on the U.S. and is not yet prepared to make abrupt moves.
It would be odd to expect a rapid restructuring of the global system, in place since the end of World War II, to happen in just a few years. Aligning such diverse interests is only natural.
And this process is genuinely occurring. China and India reached a de-escalation agreement in the tense border region in the Himalayas during the summit. Troop withdrawals have already begun. It is known that Vladimir Putin played a mediating role in the negotiations.
Putin also proposed extending Brazil’s presidency in the BRICS Bank, likely as an incentive for Brazil’s commitment to further steps in creating an alternative financial system.
In short, there is active diplomatic work underway, with all efforts focused on balancing the interests of all countries.
Beyond negotiations, there have been practical achievements. For example, the creation of a BRICS digital investment platform is already underway. Alongside the BRICS Bank, this platform will give developing countries access to affordable financing, providing a real alternative to dependence on the IMF and the World Bank.
The second initiative is a BRICS grain exchange, which will establish clear and transparent rules for trading agricultural products. Ensuring food security is a fundamental task, with severe challenges in many Global South countries.
For Russia specifically, we have undoubtedly achieved a significant diplomatic victory. Russia has demonstrated that all Western plans to isolate us have failed, as we continue to cooperate with the world’s majority.
During a press conference, Vladimir Putin mentioned that up to 30 countries have expressed interest in collaborating with BRICS.
This grand orchestra still has many rehearsals ahead, but when the concert begins, we’ll know for certain that a new era has arrived.

🇷🇺 Об идеологической борьбе
Я была очень активным жизнерадостным ребенком, поэтому у родителей имеется целый сборник смешных историй из моего детства. Одна из них случилась году в 95-ом, когда папа взял меня, еще детсадовца, и направился на электричке в гости к бабушке.
Поскольку ехать было всего две коротких остановки, мы даже не пошли в вагон, а остались в тамбуре. Я по своему обыкновению крутилась волчком вокруг отца и что-то безостановочно болтала.
За пару минут до прибытия на нужную станцию в тамбур вышел незнакомый дедушка в стареньком коричневом пиджаке с блестящими орденами на груди.
Он явно был в хорошем расположении духа, и заметив веселого ребенка, перекинулся парой фраз с папой, а потом наклонившись ко мне, обратился с весьма неожиданным вопросом:
«Скажи мне, деточка, знаешь ли ты, кто такой дедушка Ленин?».
С одной из нескольких полочек моего тогда ещё совсем крохотного архива знаний о мире без промедлений был снят ответ: «Да, знаю! Убийца народов!» 🫣😂🤦🏼♀️
У дедушки от ужаса расширились глаза, его чуть повело назад и прислонившись к стенке тамбура, он в изумлении посмотрел на отца 😳
Папа, который, пожалуй, не меньше обалдел от такого ответа, в смущении начал оправдываться: «Совершенно непонятно, откуда они этого набираются… Простите… Мы проведем с ребенком беседу».
К счастью отца, в этот момент двери электрички открылись и дали возможность поспешно скрыться. В тот день я узнала, кто такой дедушка Ленин и почему другим дедушкам ни в коем случае нельзя говорить такие вещи.
Вот откуда это вообще в моей пятилетней головушке взялось?)) Антисоветчиков в семье не было. В детском саду тоже не припомню, чтобы мы обсуждали Октябрьскую революцию 😂 То есть, прилететь это «знание» могло, скорее всего, откуда-то из телевизора.
После того случая для закрепления пройденного урока, каждый раз, когда с кем-то из родителей мы проходили мимо памятника Ленину, меня контрольно спрашивали: «Юна, ты помнишь, что сделал дедушка Ленин?».
И я всегда звонко отвечала: «Да! Он сделал ПРЕЗЕНТАЦИЮ» 🤣🤣🤣 Слово «революция» было для меня тогда сложноватым))
Не идеально, конечно, но считаю, что в борьбе за моё сознание западная пропаганда родителями была побеждена 😂

🇷🇺 Год председательства России в БРИКС богат на события. В преддверии октябрьской встречи лидеров государств в Казани, проводятся многочисленные встречи министров и рабочих групп, а также мероприятия, которые становятся площадками для обмена опытом в самых разных сферах, например, культуры, бизнеса, моды, финансов, образования, инноваций и многих других.
В официальном Плане мероприятий видела и необычное — «Кубок БРИКС по хлебопечению» :)
Кстати, интересные подробности некоторых мероприятий в своем telegram-канале «Жизнь переводчика португальского языка» пишет моя добрая подруга и преподаватель, переводчик высшего уровня Мария Зененко. Рекомендую!
Благодаря появлению новых связей и налаживанию сотрудничества между странами Глобального Юга плюс России, контуры новой системы международных отношений проявляются на наших глазах. Этот мир, очевидно, будет гораздо более разнообразным, чем раньше.

In the official Event Plan, I even saw something unusual, the “BRICS Baking Cup” :)
Thanks to the emergence of new connections and the establishment of cooperation between the countries of the Global South plus Russia, the outlines of a new international relations system are taking shape before our eyes.
This world will obviously be much more diverse than before.

I didn’t take the safest route for a solo cyclist (whose foreign nationality is visible from a few kilometers away). It’s uncomfortable not just passing by the favelas, but also when you’re on stretches of bike lanes where you can't see anyone until the horizon.
With the G20 summit taking place, the city is swarming not only with police but also with military personnel, who I kept encountering along my path. Surrounded by jungles, the tanned guys were curiously looking at me, while I was eyeing their weapons, which seemed capable of bringing down a helicopter if necessary.
Such is the tropical vibe.
Won’t ride alone like that again, only in group training with the local Rio Cycling club. But I was really eager to stretch out after the flight and refresh my cycling tan in my new kit.
I also stopped by the beach after work today. Military ships are cruising along the coast, with helicopters on duty landing on them.

🇷🇺 Саммит БРИКС-2024. Стал ли многополярный мир ближе?
С организационной точки зрения всё прошло безупречно. На этой неделе Казань приняла делегации из 35 стран и шести международных организаций, включая ООН.
Очень жаль, что президент Бразилии Лула не смог приехать из-за полученной накануне мероприятия травмы. Долетел, но в связи с терактом в Анкаре в первый же день срочно вернулся на родину президент Турции Реджеп Эрдоган. Совпадение или сигнал не дружить, с кем не надо — остается только гадать.
Многие, в том числе и западные эксперты ожидали, что этот Саммит нанесет решающий удар по американской финансовой системе, пророчили анонсирование единой валюты или системы для платежей в национальных валютах в обход SWIFT и доллара.
Но на радость злым языкам этого пока не произошло.
Необходимо понимать, что БРИКС — это объединение очень разных стран, у каждой из которых есть национальные интересы, а у интересов случаются конфликты.
К примеру, главным «тормозом» в процессе запуска альтернативных западным финансовых инструментов является Индия, которая не хочет окончательно ссориться с США. Помимо прочего Штаты являются для неё гарантом в противостоянии с Китаем, с которым отношения напряжены достаточно давно.
Существует мнение, что Бразилия также не очень спешит в этом процессе, потому что старается сохранять баланс в своих отношениях с Западом. В политическом и экономическом планах она очень сильно зависит не только от Китая и России, но также и от американцев и пока не готова «рубить с плеча».
Было бы достаточно странно, если бы перестройка глобальной системы, функционирующей с конца Второй мировой войны, заняла всего лишь пару лет. Так что, процесс приведения интересов к общему знаменателю более, чем естественный.
И этот процесс реально происходит. Китай и Индия в рамках Саммита достигли соглашения о деэскалации в регионе напряженности — в пограничной зоне в Гималаях. Даже уже начали отвод войск. Известно, что в переговорном процессе посредническую роль выполнял Владимир Путин.
Также он предложил Бразилии продлить председательство в Банке БРИКС. Вероятно, сделано это было для того, чтобы простимулировать её решительность к дальнейшим действиям по созданию альтернативной финансовой системы.
То есть, налицо активная дипломатическая работа. Прилагаются все усилия для достижения баланса интересов стран-участниц.
Кроме переговоров есть и практические успехи. Например, было анонсировано, что уже идет создание цифровой инвестиционной платформы БРИКС. Она вместе с Банком БРИКС даст развивающимся странам доступ к недорогим деньгам. И это реальная альтернатива вхождения в зависимость от Мирового валютного фонда и Всемирного банка, полностью контролируемых Западом.
Вторая инициатива — зерновая биржа БРИКС, которая позволит иметь четкие и прозрачные правила торговли сельскохозяйственной продукцией. Обеспечение продовольственной безопастности — одна из фундаментальных задач, с этим во многих странах Глобального Юга большие проблемы.
Что касается непосредственно России, то без всяких сомнений мы одержали громкую дипломатическую победу. Страна показала, что все западные планы по нашей изоляции увенчались неудачей.
На пресс-конференции Владимир Путин упомянул, что до 30 государств изъявили желание сотрудничать с БРИКС.

I was a very active and cheerful child, so my parents have a whole collection of funny stories from my childhood. One of them happened during the height of perestroika, around 1995, when my dad took me, still a kindergartener, to visit grandmother.
We took a train and since it was only two short stops, didn’t even go into the carriage but stayed in the vestibule. As usual, I was spinning around my father like a top, endlessly chatting.
A few minutes before arriving at our station, an elderly man in an old brown jacket with shiny medals on his chest entered the vestibule.
He was clearly in good spirits and, noticing the cheerful child, exchanged a few words with my father, then leaned down to me and asked a rather unexpected question:
“Tell me, little one, do you know who Grandpa Lenin is?”
From one of the few shelves of my still tiny knowledge archive, I quickly pulled out an answer: “Yes, I do! He’s a murderer of nations!” 🫣😂🤦🏼♀️
Imagine the absurdity of saying such a thing to a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, who had fought for the Soviet Union. The old man’s eyes widened in horror, and he almost staggered back, leaning against the vestibule wall as he stared at my father in disbelief 😳
My father, who was probably no less shocked by my response, began to justify himself awkwardly: “I have no idea where kids pick these things up... I’m so sorry... We’ll have a talk with her.”
Luckily for my father, at that moment, the train doors opened, offering a quick escape. That day, I learned who Grandpa Lenin was and why you should never say such things to other grandpas.
But where did that even come from in my five-year-old head? There were no anti-Soviets in the family. I don’t recall discussing the October Revolution in kindergarten either 😂 So this “knowledge” must have come from somewhere on TV.
After that incident, to reinforce the lesson learned, every time we passed a Lenin monument (and there are at least a few in every Russian city), my parents asked me, “Yuliana, do you remember what Grandpa Lenin did?”
And I always loudly answered, “Yes! He made a PRESENTATION!” 🤣🤣🤣 The word “revolution” was a bit too complicated for me at the time 😂
Not perfect, of course, but I believe that in the battle for my consciousness, my parents successfully defeated Western propaganda 😂

Если становишься влиятельным несистемным актором, то рано или поздно в системного все равно превратишься. Но не факт, что актора.
Любая система, даже (сюрприз) либеральная демократия, будет стараться тебя поглотить.
Единственный вариант выжить — оценивать в каждый момент времени, с какой системой совпадают твои интересы и сотрудничать с ней, таким образом получая для себя наиболее выгодные условия существования.
Наверное, где-то можно было бы устроиться поуютнее, чем во французской тюрьме…
Но это трудная шахматная партия, где на одной доске приходится играть сразу с несколькими сильными соперниками.

Perhaps there were more comfortable places to be than a French prison...
But this is a difficult chess game, where you have to play against several strong opponents on a single board at the same time.

Путешествуя в Бразилию с 2016 года, каждый раз подмечаю, что уровень цен в Москве и Рио-де-Жанейро абсолютно одинаковый. Продукты, одежда, такси, кафе и рестораны — жизнь в наших городах стоит неизменно одних и тех же денег.
Даже цена обеда в моём любимом буфете на Копакабане с едой на развес растёт пропорционально средней стоимости бизнес-ланча в московских ресторанах.
Таким образом в расходы можно закладывать только стоимость перелета, жилья, ну и разъездов внутри Бразилии по рабочим встречам. Очень удобно.
PS да, местный Uber стал такой же дорогой как московский Яндекс

Viajando para o Brasil desde 2016, sempre noto que o nível de preços em Moscou e no Rio de Janeiro é absolutamente igual. Alimentos, roupas, táxis, cafés e restaurantes: viver em nossas cidades custa praticamente o mesmo.
Até mesmo o preço do almoço no meu bufê favorito em Copacabana, com comida a quilo, aumenta proporcionalmente ao custo médio de um Business lunch em restaurantes moscovitas.
Assim, ao planejar os gastos, só é necessário incluir o custo do voo, da hospedagem e dos deslocamentos internos no Brasil para reuniões de trabalho. Muito prático.

Даже цена обеда в моём любимом буфете на Копакабане с едой на развес растёт пропорционально средней стоимости бизнес-ланча в московских ресторанах.
Таким образом в расходы можно закладывать только стоимость перелета, жилья, ну и разъездов внутри Бразилии по рабочим встречам. Очень удобно.

Viajando para o Brasil desde 2016, sempre noto que o nível de preços em Moscou e no Rio de Janeiro é absolutamente igual. Alimentos, roupas, táxis, cafés e restaurantes: viver em nossas cidades custa praticamente o mesmo.
Até mesmo o preço do almoço no meu bufê favorito em Copacabana, com comida a quilo, aumenta proporcionalmente ao custo médio de um Business lunch em restaurantes moscovitas.
Assim, ao planejar os gastos, só é necessário incluir o custo do voo, da hospedagem e dos deslocamentos internos no Brasil para reuniões de trabalho. Muito prático.

Traveling to Brazil since 2016, I’ve consistently noticed that the cost of living in Moscow and Rio de Janeiro is almost identical. Groceries, clothing, taxis, cafes, and restaurants — life in our cities costs essentially the same.

Игра «а давайте ещё вот так и вот так потыкаем в русских палкой и посмотрим, как они будут реагировать» по всей видимости слишком увлекательная.
В ответ на такое нашими следующими шагами предположительно могут стать сначала демонстративные ядерные испытания. Если опять не подействует, то примирение тактического ядерного оружия по военным целям вдали от городов. А если опять не впечатлит, то дальше там уже всё. Конец.
Надеюсь, что наше политическое руководство будет продолжать проявлять свойственное ему стоическое терпение и мы все доживем до инаугурации Трампа. Совершенно не факт, что с его приходом станет легче, но есть небольшая надежда.

De fato, era esperado que os democratas, no final, enviassem mais dinheiro e armas para Kiev, e de forma geral, avançassem com a escalada do conflito.
A Rússia já atualizou sua doutrina nuclear e repetidamente declarou em todos os níveis que ataques ao seu território serão considerados uma participação direta da OTAN no conflito... mas parece que isso não tem efeito.
O jogo “vamos ainda assim e assado cutucar os russos com um bastão e ver como eles vão reagir” parece estar sendo, aparentemente, muito envolvente.
Em resposta a isso, nossos próximos passos provavelmente começarão com testes nucleares demonstrativos. Se isso não funcionar, podemos passar ao uso de armas nucleares táticas em alvos militares distantes das cidades. Se isso também não funcionar, aí já será o fim.
Espero que nossa liderança política continue a demonstrar a paciência estoica que lhe é característica, e que todos nós consigamos chegar até a inauguração de Trump. Não é certo que com ele as coisas fiquem mais fáceis, mas há uma pequena esperança.

In response to this, our next steps could presumably begin with demonstrative nuclear tests. If that doesn't work, we might resort to the use of tactical nuclear weapons on military targets far from cities. If that doesn't work either, then that's it. The end.
I hope that our political leadership will continue to demonstrate its characteristic stoic patience, and that we all live to see Trump's inauguration. It's by no means certain that things will get easier with his arrival, but there is a small hope.

🇧🇷 Sobre a luta ideológica
Eu era uma criança muito ativa e alegre, por isso meus pais têm uma coleção de histórias engraçadas da minha infância. Uma delas aconteceu no auge da perestroika, por volta de 1995, quando meu pai me levou, ainda na época do jardim de infância, para visitar avó.
Como era uma viagem curta de trem, com apenas duas paradas, nem chegamos a entrar no vagão e ficamos no corredor. Eu, como de costume, girava em torno do meu pai e falava alguma coisa sem parar.
Pouco antes de chegarmos à nossa estação, um senhor idoso, com um velho paletó marrom e medalhas brilhantes no peito, saiu para o corredor.
Ele estava de bom humor e, ao ver uma criança animada, trocou algumas palavras com meu pai. Depois, inclinando-se para mim, fez uma pergunta bastante inesperada:
"Me diga, meu anjinho, você sabe quem foi o vovô Lenin?".
Das poucas prateleiras do meu ainda pequeno arquivo de conhecimentos sobre o mundo, veio prontamente a resposta: "Sim, eu sei! Assassino de povos!" 🫣😂🤦🏼♀️
Agora, imagine o absurdo de dizer isso a um veterano da Grande Guerra Patriótica, que lutou pela pátria soviética. Os olhos do senhor se arregalaram de horror, ele cambaleou para trás e, apoiando-se na parede do corredor, olhou para o pai em estado de choque 😳
Meu pai, que provavelmente ficou tão surpreso quanto o senhor, começou a se desculpar embaraçado: "Não faço ideia de onde ela tirou isso... Desculpe... Vamos ter uma conversa com a criança."
Felizmente para o meu pai, naquele momento as portas do trem se abriram, permitindo uma fuga rápida. Naquele dia, eu aprendi quem era o vovô Lenin e por que não se deve dizer tais coisas a outros avôs.
Mas de onde veio isso na minha cabecinha de cinco anos? Não havia anti-soviéticos na família. Na creche também não lembro de termos discutido a Revolução de Outubro 😂 Ou seja, esse “conhecimento” provavelmente veio de algum programa de televisão.
Depois desse incidente, para reforçar o aprendizado, toda vez que passávamos por um monumento de Lenin (e há várias em cada cidade da Rússia), meus pais me perguntavam: "Yuliana, você lembra o que o vovô Lenin fez?"
E eu sempre respondia alto e claro: "Sim! Ele fez uma APRESENTAÇÃO!" 🤣🤣🤣 A palavra "revolução" era um pouco complicada para mim naquela época 😂
Perfeito ficou não, claro, mas acredito que na luta pelo meu consciente, meus pais derrotaram a propaganda ocidental 😂

Видела мерзкую морду «политолога» Максима Каца (иноагент), говорящую, что бразильский президент себе нарисовал справку от врача. Чтобы такое заявлять, надо быть абсолютно некомпетентным в теме международных отношений человеком (кем он и является).

Em 2006, Lula estava ao lado da Rússia na fundação do BRICS, e a organização é uma plataforma muito importante para o Brasil na realização de suas ambições de política externa.
Ele realmente se machucou e não conseguiu ir. Que pena!

In 2006, Lula stood alongside Russia in the founding of BRICS, and the organization remains a highly important platform for Brazil to pursue its foreign policy ambitions.
He simply had an actual injury and couldn’t make the trip. It's really unfortunate!
