In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, head of the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, Lt. Gen. Aroldo Lázaro, said that "Israel's" continued military activities have prevented the full deployment of the Lebanese Army in the South and delayed the return of displaced civilians.

UNIFIL’s area of operations in southern Lebanon lies between the Litani River and the Blue Line and their mission is to observe and report all violations of Resolution 1701.

According to Lázaro, UNIFIL has recorded over 2,600 airspace violations by "Israel", 1,400 instances of Israeli military activity north of the Blue Line, more than 60 airstrikes and drone attacks, and upwards of 750 artillery shelling incidents.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and chief trade negotiator Jamieson Greer will meet Vice Premier of China He Lifeng in Geneva on Saturday.

The talks come after weeks of escalating tensions that have seen duties on goods imports between the world's two largest economies reach 145%.

China said that the US reached out to discuss "tariffs and other issues."

Bessent says that the meeting on Saturday is unlikely to result in a trade deal, but it could at least pave the way to de-escalate the trade war that has damaged both economies.
The Trump administration has announced it will bar Harvard from receiving new federal research grants, intensifying its ongoing clash with the prestigious university.

This move marks the latest in a series of attacks by President Donald Trump on Harvard and other top-tier institutions, which he has accused of advancing progressive ideologies and encouraging a culture of "wokeness" on their campuses.

Just last week, Trump said he intended to revoke Harvard’s tax-exempt status. He had also previously unveiled plans to cut over $2.2 billion in federal funding to the university, leading Harvard to take legal action against his administration.

BREAKING: Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the Pakistani military struck an Indian military site in Kashmir.

The Pakistan Armed Forces also downed three Indian Dassault Rafale fighter jets, according to our correspondent.

This comes after India attacked Pakistani sites using ballistic missiles, which Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan's prime minister, described as an act of war.
🚨BREAKING | Witnesses reported to Reuters that multiple explosions sounded in the Kashmir region near Muzaffarabad. The nature of the explosions remains unclear.

Tensions have been on the rise between Pakistan and India following a terrorist attack targeting tourists in Kashmir.

Following the attack, several hostile measures were taken by these countries. Notably, India's decision to suspend a water treaty between Delhi and Islamabad.
Following the announcement of the agreement between Washington and Sanaa, the US State Department said it would abide by the deal if American ships were not targeted.

The State Department emphasized that the deal aims to halt attacks in the Red Sea.

Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched multiple drone strikes on Port Sudan and Kassala on Wednesday, including Sudan's largest naval base.

The RSF struck Port Sudan's main port, power station, and the country's last functional airport with drone strikes on Tuesday.

Port Sudan serves as the army-aligned government's de facto capital and crucial humanitarian lifeline, through which nearly all aid enters a country where famine has been declared and 25 million face severe food insecurity. The city hosts hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians who fled violence elsewhere in Sudan.

This escalation follows the RSF's March 2025 territorial losses in Khartoum, after which they increasingly turned to drone warfare. The conflict between army chief al-Burhan and RSF leader Hemedti, which began in April 2023, has killed tens of thousands, displaced 13 million, and effectively split the country.

The Sudanese army accuses the United Arab Emirates of supplying advanced drones to the RSF, an allegation that was part of a genocide case recently dismissed by the International Court of Justice due to jurisdictional issues.
An Ansar Allah official told Reuters that no direct talks were held between Sanaa and Washington to reach the ceasefire deal.

Oman had announced mediating the deal on Tuesday night, confirming that the US aggression on Yemen would stop, while in exchange, the Yemeni Armed Forces would spare US ships in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The Syrian interim government has appointed Ahmad al-Hayis, known as Abu Hatim Shuqra, a former commander of the Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction, as head of the newly formed 86th Division, tasked with securing the provinces of al-Hasakah, Raqqa, and Deir Ezzor.

The decision, issued by interim Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra, also grants al-Hayis the rank of brigadier general in what is being called the "new Syrian army."

The appointment has provoked strong condemnation from Kurdish sources and groups affiliated with the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who view it as a provocative move given al-Hayis' notorious record.

Shuqra is widely accused of leading one of the factions most involved in serious human rights violations against Kurdish civilians in Afrin and Ras al-Ain, following their occupation during the Turkish-led military offensive Olive Branch in 2018 and Peace Spring in 2019.

According to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza eat only one meal every 2-3 days due to the severe Israeli blockade of the strip, Anadolu Agency reported.

More than 66,000 children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition, the agency added through its spokesperson, Adnan Abu Hasna.

Since March 2, 2025, "Israel" has blocked the entry of all food, medical, and humanitarian aid reaching Gaza, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis. Nearly 2.4 million people in Gaza live completely dependent on humanitarian aid, according to World Bank data.

Palestinians are forced to risk dangerous journeys on hazardous roads just to find food for their families. With the closure of Salah al-Din Street by Israeli forces, many must travel for hours using primitive transportation like tuk-tuks and carriages on the al-Rasheed coastal road, their only remaining route.

What would normally be a 15-minute journey now takes hours under dangerous conditions.

"We say the shahadas (Islamic prayer for declaration of faith) before we move, the Israeli boats are behind us in the sea, and the tanks are in front of us. Above us, Israeli planes are flying. We might be bombed any moment," describes one local passenger.

The Israeli Cabinet recently approved a plan to distribute aid through private security contractors, but this plan was rejected by the UN and dozens of international aid groups. The UN Humanitarian Country Team in Gaza stated it "can only support plans that respect the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, independence, and impartiality."
"Israel" was not given prior notice about US President Donald Trump's announcement concerning the cessation of strikes on Yemen, a source familiar with the matter told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

Axios Israeli correspondent Barak Ravid reported the same situation, citing another Israeli official saying 'Israel' received no notification from the United States about the latter country halting its air strikes against Yemen.

Earlier, Trump announced that the United States would cease airstrikes against Sanaa, stating that an agreement had been reached to halt its disruptions of key shipping routes in the Middle East.

Oman later announced it had mediated this agreement, saying that American ships will no longer be targeted, in exchange the aggression on Yemen would stop.
Speaking with German public broadcaster ZDF on Tuesday, Germany's new chancellor, Friedrich Merz, told the US to "stay out" of German domestic politics.

Merz, who has extensive ties with the US, said he had always felt that America “can clearly distinguish between extremist parties and parties of the political centre."

He also noted that he “did not interfere in the American election campaign” that elected Trump.

This comes after Trump allies showed public support for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which the German domestic intelligence agency has designated as "right-wing extremist".

US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, called this designation "tyranny in disguise," while Vice President JD Vance wrote on X, “The West tore down the Berlin Wall together. And it has been rebuilt – not by the Soviets or the Russians, but by the German establishment.”

Moreover, in January, Musk virtually participated in an AfD rally, calling the crowd "the best hope" for Germany.
Following the agreement struck between Washington and Sanaa, mediated by Oman, the President of the Political Supreme Council in Yemen, Mahdi al-Mashat, reiterated Yemen's support of Gaza.

Al-Mashat sent a strong-worded message to Israeli settlers, urging them to leave for their homelands or stay in shelters, warning of a forthcoming Yemeni response to the Israeli aggression on the Yemeni Hodeidah port on Tuesday.

Later, al-Mashat said that authorities in Sanaa indirectly informed Washington that the continued escalation in the region will only affect the visits of "the criminal Trump" to the region. He said that Yemen did not inform the US of anything else.

"If the criminal Trump wants to stop his aggression and compensate [for the destruction] he left behind, that is up to him," al-Mashat emphasized.
🚨BREAKING | After explosions sounded in the Kashmir region, the Pakistani military spokesman said that India had attacked Pakistan with missiles targeting Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad.

The spokesman said that the Pakistani military is currently preparing to respond to India's attack, adding that 3 people were killed and 12 others were injured in a preliminary toll.

Meanwhile, India announced launching Operation Sindoor, in which they claimed to hit terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, adding that nine sites were targeted as part of the operation.
The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it mediated between Sanaa and Washington to reach an agreement.

The agreement stipulates that no American ships will be targeted in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait; in return, the US aggression on Yemen would stop.

The proclaimed agreement, however, did not mention operations against the Israeli occupation targets and related shipping.

Sanaa officials emphasized that this doesn't affect the Yemeni support for Gaza, and nothing will change this fact until the genocide in Gaza stops.
