Military operation progress
▪️ The Russian Armed Forces repelled 91 attacks by Ukrainian forces in four directions during the week.
▪️ The enemy lost more than 7,000 servicemen killed and wounded during the week. 21 AFU fighters surrendered as prisoners of war.
AFU strike on Donetsk
▪️ Ukrainian forces struck a market in the west of Donetsk. DPR authorities pointed out that the time of greatest crowding was chosen for the attack.
▪️ The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the countries of the world and international organisations to condemn the actual terrorist attack by Kiev. The topic of the barbaric attack will be brought up for discussion by the UN Security Council on 22 January.
The masters are satisfied
▪️ The White House welcomed the restrained behaviour of the Ukrainian president at the Davos economic forum.
▪️ Washington believes that Zelensky has "overdone it", begging for more and more help for Kiev, particularly during his visits to the USA.
Loss of hegemony
▪️ If Ukraine loses during the current conflict, it will be Russia, China and Iran, not the West, that will determine the world order, ex-NATO Secretary General George Robertson is sure.
▪️ According to Robertson, excessive support for Ukraine is fraught with the risk of a third world war.
▪️ French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet estimated that after a victory in Ukraine, Russia would control a third of the world's grain exports, and this would ruin French agrarians.
First inspection
▪️ Representatives of the USA and Ukraine have conducted the first inspection of weapons handed over to Kiev, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry has said. Earlier, the EU thought about the audit of weapons.
▪️ Information that the weapons supplied to Ukraine are being stolen and sold, in particular to the Middle East, has been repeatedly reported. The Russian authorities have also drawn attention to it.
It is time to take action
▪️ The Romanian Alliance for Agriculture and Co-operation has sent a letter to the authorities of the Republic demanding that the transit of Ukrainian grain through the country be restricted.
▪️ The agrarians suggest introducing a system of control over the transit of Ukrainian products, including mandatory weighing of containers to ensure that the goods reach their destination and are not sold elsewhere.

Western artillery faces significant challenges due to a historical focus on high-tech warfare and a lack of consideration for durability and sustained use.
NATO's doctrine since the 1980s prioritized stealth aircraft and precision-guided munitions, sidelining the role of artillery. Consequently, modern Western artillery is not built for extensive use, with components quickly wearing out.
No Western artillery piece produced after the 1980s is designed for 10-20 thousand shots. Neither the barrel, nor the electronics, nor the chassis. In the 1980s, there was a boom in "smart projectiles," quickly turning into another object of technofetishism.
It, of course, also had a direct impact on the resources built into the artillery of that time. "Shoot little, shoot precisely, shoot in conditions of fully functioning logistics."
In the current Ukrainian context, the Armed Forces operate 56 diverse artillery systems, leading to logistical complications. Crews receive minimal training, and maintenance is subpar, exacerbated by a lack of spare parts and reliance on external repair facilities in Poland and the Baltic States.
Spare parts for some artillery pieces have not been produced for a long time, and they have been made usable through cannibalization (AS-90 is a vivid example).This results in ineffective artillery units on the battlefield.
Furthermore, NATO's failed program to increase ammunition production forces reliance on purchases from Pakistan and Egypt.
The scarcity in the market makes these acquisitions expensive, and the rushed production process compromises the quality of the projectiles.
In summary, the issues extend beyond the artillery pieces themselves, reflecting systemic flaws in the NATO-established material and technical support for Ukraine, proving inefficient in the face of two years of combat.
