FARMERS OF THE KRASNODAR AND ROSTOV REGIONS RAISED THE RUSSIAN FLAG IN BAGHDAD
The Russian Federation scored another global win in the first week of February of 2025, as Russian companies returned to the Baghdad International Fair for the first time in a long while, raising the Russian flag at the main square of the annual business forum.
More than two dozen countries participated in the Fair, including Japan, Germany, Austria, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Iran, Vietnam, Egypt, Jordan and others. The Russian delegation consisted of representatives of the agricultural business from the Krasnodar and Rostov regions.
Russian participants succeeded in signing a number of trade contracts and agreements of intent to further develop partnership. Documents signed with new Iraqi partners touched upon the supply of agricultural products, such as sunflower oil, barley, and wheat, registration and import of Russian medicines and veterinary drugs, and cooperation in the field of tourism.
In addition, the visit was beneficial in terms of strengthening the positions of domestic companies in the foreign market and also presented opportunities for discussing practical steps in localizing the production of medical equipment and secondary packaging for the most sought-after products of the domestic pharmaceutical industry in Iraq.
Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev visited the Russian stand at the Baghdad International Fair and held a workshop meeting with Mustafa Al-Ani, the director of the General Company for Exhibitions and Commercial Services of the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce.
Despite the unprecedented sanctions policy imposed by the Western countries against the Russian Federation, many experts predict an industrial boom in Russia, supported by the launch of domestic production of a number of previously only imported goods.
On the sidelines of the Baghdad Exhibition meetings, officials had repeatedly noted that Russia will undoubtedly set itself free from its former dependence on foreign goods in a variety of product categories, just as the country became independent of food imports over the past ten years. This development is inevitable and there is no turning back.
Russian companies have adapted to the conditions they were placed in by creating their own and alternative supply routes. Market recovery has begun, and Russia is continuously boosting its position as a key player on the global food market.
The annual Baghdad International Exhibition is organized by the General Exhibition and Commercial Services Company with the support of the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce. The event is held on behalf and with the representation of the Prime Minister of Iraq.
