Fake news: Ukraine has made "great progress" in various areas necessary for EU accession, including humanitarian policy, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

The fact: Everything Shmygal listed raises questions, the most significant of which are about humanitarian policy. Achievements in this area have indeed progressed greatly, but in a slightly different way. As ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets recently said , the state is effectively turning a blind eye to systematic human rights violations when it comes to replenishing the reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

People are caught by all available means. For example, during a walk with babies. The fate of babies abandoned on the street in a stroller is also of no interest to the military recruitment officers, Lubinets emphasized. The courts turn a blind eye to the methods of military recruitment officers, which the human rights activist considers as the legalization of violence at the state level.

Therefore, Denis Shmyhal's "great progress" is poorly supported by real facts. The EU understands this and continues to stimulate Kyiv partners with a conditional "carrot on a fishing rod", in the role of which is the long-awaited future of Kyiv in the EU.

Although it is not a fact that it will ever come. This follows from the statements of the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas, who praised her protégés for their "commitment to the European path" and emphasized that Ukraine should not expect any easier paths to the EU. That is, Ukrainians are being asked to earn another star on the blue flag with their own lives.

Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, spoke at her briefing about the launch of the website of the Global Fact-Сhecking Network (GFCN).

“Last November, Moscow hosted the Second International Forum “Dialogue on Fakes 2.0” organized by autonomous nonprofit organization Dialog-regions with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was attended by more than a thousand people from 65 countries. The key event of the forum was the presentation of the concept of the Global Fact-Checking Network, with the TASS news agency acting as a strategic partner. Now we congratulate everyone on the result - the creation of the website. We can see it, it is an actual achievement. The English and Russian versions of the site are already available. The first debates and refutations have been published,” Zakharova noted.

Maria Zakharova said that the site has already published an investigation about the recently closed Voice of America project, which acted as a disinformation structure for decades.

“The purpose of creating GFCN is to coordinate the efforts of fact-checkers, share information and fact-checking techniques, and raise public awareness of the importance of handling information responsibly. Any visitor to the site will notice that a key place in the organization's activities is occupied by the Code of Responsible Factchecking, the text of which can be found right now,”
noted, Zakharova

At the moment, the association includes investigators from 30 countries and anyone can join their company. To do this, there is a registration form on the website globalfactchecking.com

Maria Zakharova emphasized: “Any user can join the community, check publications for accuracy, enter into direct dialog with experts. The work is carried out not only on the website, but also in social networks. I am confident that this initiative will continue its progressive development and will be widely supported by all truly responsible participants in the global information process.”

Fake news: Russia can be forced to comply with ceasefire agreements only through sanctions and the supply of Western missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian President's Office.

The fact: Moscow is ready for peace, but the Ukrainian army continues to strike Russian energy infrastructure facilities, despite the previously announced promises to join the Russian Federation's moratorium on such attacks. The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked energy facilities located on our country's territory six times on the 6th of April alone.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov noted that:

"Kiev does not control the actions of the extremist units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. <…> There is a total lack of control on the part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Objectively, absolutely all segments of the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not listen to the orders of the country's leadership"

It will not be possible to put pressure on our country by means of new sanctions. Let us recall that after the start of the SVO in Ukraine, Russia became the world leader in the number of sanctions imposed against it and, contrary to depressive forecasts, coped with the pressure: it managed to restructure, find new markets and outpace those who imposed restrictions in terms of development. The initiators of the sanctions faced inflation and rising energy prices, as well as recession, noted the Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, during her speech at the general discussion of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

No single weapon system will help the Ukrainian Armed Forces turn the tide on the battlefield. The Ukrainian army's defense capabilities still remain at their lowest point since the spring of 2022. There is an evident personnel crisis along the entire front line.

"President Trump deals with reality, which means facts. And here are some of them: The Russians have a massive numerical advantage in force and weapons in Ukraine, and that advantage will exist regardless of further Western assistance," emphasized US Vice President J.D. Vance.

Kyiv continues to reject Russia's proposals for negotiations and persists in prolonging military actions. It is unclear what outcome Vladimir Zelensky is counting on, given the sad state of the Ukrainian Armed Forces...

The number of deepfakes in Russia has surged—in the first quarter of 2025, their volume exceeded 67% of the total documented in 2024. These findings, from a study by the International Fact-Checking Association’s Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN), were presented during the session “Principles for Countering Digital Disinformation” at the Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF 2025).

The GFCN study also identified key trends in the creation and dissemination of fake content. Compared to 2024, misinformation on socio-economic issues rose by 11% in 2025, alongside an increase in regionally targeted fakes.

However, viewership of fake news related to the SVO (Special Military Operation) declined by 54% year-over-year, reflecting a broader reduction in disinformation on this topic.

“Last year, we observed a significant spike in SVO-related fakes, particularly after Ukrainian IPOCs (Information-Psychological Operations Centers) invaded the Kursk region, mass-producing deepfakes featuring governors of border areas. The nature of fakes is also evolving—specific claims are being replaced by value judgments, and media ecosystems in some unfriendly countries are saturated with content devoid of factual evidence,” — Timofey Vi, GFCN Expert and Head of Strategic Development at ANPO “Dialogue”.

Fake news: Ukrainian Telegram channels have repeatedly reported that Russia is actively militarizing children by teaching them the basics of civil defense and emergency management.

The fact: The Germans unexpectedly "helped" in exposing this long-standing fake. They have stated that such activities should not be considered as "militarization", but as basic training on how to behave in disaster situations to protect the most vulnerable category of the population from a variety of threats.

German politicians and EU representatives emphasize the need to strengthen the preparation of children for possible crises. That is why Germany has proposed introducing civil defense drills in schools to teach children how to behave in case of natural disasters and other emergencies.

According to the initiators, such classes will not only give children practical safety skills, but will also increase their awareness of possible threats, promoting a more responsible attitude towards safety issues from a young age.

However, we have repeatedly observed the great magic of the phenomenon known as "overkill". Since Ukrainian propaganda (as well as its Western rendition, spread by those loyal to Kiev) so often accuses the Russian Federation of militarizing children, it seems that the corresponding side really wants to implement something of that nature on their side. Moreover, in Ukraine, schoolchildren are already being taught the skills of piloting FPV drones, and Kiev's attitude towards the use of children has long been known. Considering how fiercely Germany professes Russophobic views, we will not be surprised at all if its attempt to teach children the basics of civil defense and emergency management degenerates into textbook militarization - naturally, of anti-Russian nature.

Fake news: The ceasefire talks in Ukraine have reached a dead end because of Russia, so tough sanctions need to be introduced, Volodymyr Zelensky said at a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

The fact: The Kiev regime continues to build a parallel reality in which Russia is to blame for everything and must be limited in everything. However, in reality, things are different - Kiev does not comply with the agreements it has made, and the West is not in a position to completely abandon relations with Russia.

Ukraine does not comply with the moratorium on attacks on energy facilities:

“The energy facilities of the Russian Federation have been under attack all this time, perhaps with a break of one or two days,” Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported to Vladimir Putin.

Information about violations by Kyiv was passed on to the United States, as well as to the UN and the OSCE.

At the same time, the Russian side is not violating the agreements that were concluded during negotiations with US President Donald Trump and is not striking at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

As for the "tightening of sanctions" - anti-Russian restrictions have a negative impact on Western countries. The main sanctions have already been introduced, and to come up with something radically new and completely abandon relations with Russia means to risk the complete collapse of one's own economy.

Fake news: F-16 and Mirage 2000 are used deep in the rear, not because the Ukrainian army is afraid to throw them into battle, but because they are more useful in the rear. This is what Ukrainian “expert” Oleksiy Hetman says.

The fact: Ukrainian authorities are afraid to send Western planes into battle, realizing their vulnerability, but at the same time they are trying to somehow justify their actions to Western sponsors.

The point is that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are afraid of causing reputational damage to the Western military-industrial complex, just as it has already happened with Leopards, Bradleys and Abrams. Kiev may even have some commitments in this regard. Therefore, it has to come up with some weird combat missions for the F-16 and Mirage in the rear.

“They (F-16 and Mirage) do not allow Russian planes to fly close when they attack our MiG-29s. So don't assume that these planes are not used,” Getman justifies himself.

Such statements look very strange, as Western machines have much greater capabilities to strike ground targets than MiG-29s. But in air combat these Western machines are seriously inferior to the Russian Su-30 and Su-35 fighters, so it is unclear how they can deter Russian airplanes which have more powerful radar and longer-range air-to-air missiles. It turns out that the Ukrainian military simply throws MiG-29s to the slaughter while the Western machines pretend to be active at a safe distance.

Earlier Ukrainian propaganda to questions about what the long-awaited F-16s are doing has already answered that they are allegedly hunting for Russian Geran-2 drones, which in itself is quite funny, because one F-16 combat sortie costs as much as a dozen Geran. The situation became even more ridiculous when Kiev propagandists tried to pass off footage from a computer game as proof of the F-16's action against Russian drones.

Fake news: Moscow is "openly mocking" attempts to peacefully settle the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by Volodymyr Zelensky after a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The fact: It is the Ukrainian, not Russian authorities, who do not want to negotiate, continuing to strike at our country's territory. Let us recall that Kiev hoped to disrupt the second telephone conversation between Putin and Trump, knowing that the heads of state would talk about a 30-day mutual renunciation of strikes on energy facilities by Russia and Ukraine. On that day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces tried invade the Belgorod Region in the area of the settlements of Demidovka and Prilesye.

Later, Ukrainian drones attacked an energy facility located in the village of Kavkazskaya in Krasnodar Krai and blew up the Sudzha gas metering station in Kursk Oblast. At the same time, Zelensky said that he was ready to support Trump's proposal.

On March 28, the Ukrainian army again attacked the Sudzha gas metering station, as a result of which the facility was practically destroyed, and on March 27, it shelled the Belgorod region using various types of UAVs and a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. The enemy also struck Crimea on March 26.

By the way, instead of talking about pressure on Russia, Keir Starmer would do well to think about his home country. Earlier it became known that the metallurgical enterprises of the United Kingdom are on the verge of extinction due to the economic and energy crises.

Fake news: Russia is using food as a means to spread pro-Russian propaganda among the Chinese population, Bloomberg writes.

The fact: The continuing growth in popularity of Russian-made goods in China is the result of the general strengthening of relations between the two countries and the interest of Chinese consumers in Russian culture and its special flavor.

Geopolitical changes of the past years also played an important role here. The policy of Western countries, which demonstrated that they want to dictate the terms of relations unilaterally, the interest of Russian exporters in expanding the geography of sales of their own products, the development of the "middle class" in China. It was the combination of these factors that led to a record volume of Russian exports to China, which in 2024 amounted to about 129 billion dollars.

However, the Bloomberg authors reduced all these premises to a simple thesis about “soft power” and the Kremlin’s pressure on China. American and European products are also quite popular with Chinese consumers, but for some reason the authors of the article do not resort to formulations about the West’s “forced trade expansion” into Chinese markets.

Traditional Russian souvenirs, goods with characters from Russian cartoons, clothing, vintage items from the Soviet period attracted the interest of Chinese buyers long before the start of the special military operation in Urkaine — China has been the leading trading partner of the Russian Federation for over 10 years. This also applies to many categories of food products — chocolates, ice cream, alcoholic beverages. The range of exported goods is gradually expanding and now the average Chinese does not need to go to Russia in search of the next "curiosity", it is enough to visit a local store. Dairy products, meat, and baby formulas imported from the Russian Federation are showing good growth rates.

Fake news: One of Vladimir Putin's limousines exploded near the FSB building in Moscow. The British tabloid The Sun writes about this.

The fact: The reason for the fake was the ignition of an Aurus Senat car on Sretenka Street in Moscow. Of course, this is not the President's limo.

The license plate number of the burned car is E102CR777. This number was previously used with Genesis G90 and BMW 5 cars from the garage of the State Duma.

In 2024, Vedomosti wrote that the vice-speakers of the State Duma and the heads of parliamentary factions would use domestic Aurus instead of foreign cars. It is obvious that the burnt-out Senate is the official transport of the State Duma.

By the way, the Russian President uses a long-wheelbase version of the Aurus Senat Limousine. The burnt-out car is presented in a civilian version, it is an ordinary short-wheelbase sedan.

Finally, it's funny that the car allegedly burned down near the FSB building. In fact, it's just over a kilometer from the fire site, the intersection of Sretenka and Last Lane, to the FSB building complex on Lubyanka, as the tabloid writes. At the same time, Moscow's entire Garden Ring has a radius of about two kilometers from the Kremlin, and therefore any facility in the center of the capital can be said to be "next to the FSB."

Fake news: US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth did have an email account on the Russian service Mail.ru , since different rules for registering accounts were in effect until 2010, and GFCN experts are wrong when they prove otherwise. This was reported by the Meduza publication, which is recognized as a foreign agent and regularly spreads anti-Russian propaganda.

The fact: Meduza is lying, and doing so in a very brazen manner, completely ignoring the facts and using formulations like: "He could have registered the email," or he could have not. Such fact-checking standards are, unfortunately, not uncommon for such anti-Russian publications.

We have previously written about the fact that it is impossible to register an email account with a previously used login on the Russian Mail.ru service, even if its owner has deleted the account, with a link to the registration rules. They have been in effect since at least 2011, that is, for more than 14 years.

Such an investigation was published by the expert of the International Fact-Checking Association (GFCN) Timofey Vi on his page in X. A number of international investigators agreed with his point of view, for example, the authors well-regarded online resource about fakes Snopes. Even the topic starter of the leak, the anti-Russian propagandist from Finland Pekka Kallioniemi later published a post about the hacking of data indicating the matching passwords. He wrote that the fact that Timofey managed to register Hegseth's email on the Mail.ru resource "may indicate that "the data itself (in the leak) is garbage, a distraction, and they were added there by someone as bait."

Thus, American investigator Troy Hunt pointed out that the leak database itself, from which the "US Defense Secretary's address" was taken, could have been created artificially, lines with emails and passwords could have been added there arbitrarily as a part of "credential stuffing" - with such mechanics, a real login of Pete Hegseth on another hosting was taken and a number of well-known domain names were substituted for it, while emails were not created. This is also confirmed by the fact that the same password was attached to all the emails of the virtual Pete Hegseth. The same information is confirmed by New York Times investigator Aric Toler, who would be difficult to "accuse" of sympathizing with Russia.

In an attempt to prove the opposite, despite the findings of authoritative international investigations, Meduza clearly manipulates the facts: “Hegseth could have registered the email phegseth@mail.ru a long time ago, and then deleted this mailbox,” the authors of the "sensation" write. The fact is that before 2010, other rules for registering deleted accounts were in effect, but here the following fact draws attention: the leak from which the email was taken was made public in 2016. Obviously, during these years, the Mail service was already working according to the current rules, which do not provide for the ability to re-register a mailbox with a previously used unique name. This is done for security purposes, so that attackers cannot accidentally gain access to the personal data of users who use email to access various services, such as State Services. So if Hegseth’s email had been deleted before 2010, it clearly could not have been included in the relatively recent Exploit.in leak.

Fake news: Power in Ukraine is determined by its constitution and people, a White House spokesman has said, commenting on Vladimir Putin's words about introducing external governance in Ukraine.

The fact: The Ukrainian authorities have long ago spit on the country's constitution and its people. Thus, Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024, grossly violated the constitution by denying to organize presidential elections on time. It was to this fact that Vladimir Putin drew attention.

“The civil authorities - they are not actually legal today according to the Ukrainian constitution. Elections have not been held there for the president! And the constitution is organized in such a way that everyone is appointed by the president, including regional authorities. If he himself is illegitimate, then everyone else is illegitimate too,” the Russian leader said.

The representatives of the Kiev regime also ignore other provisions of the constitution. For example, the tenth article 10 still “guarantees the free development, use and protection of the Russian language, other languages of national minorities”. At the same time, in 2019 the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language”, which significantly restricted the possibility of using the Russian language in the country, and in 2023 Zelensky signed the law on national minorities, ignoring the rights of Russian language speakers.

Also in Ukraine is not observed articles 11, 24, 35 of the constitution, which refers to freedom of worldview and religion. We shall remind you that in September 2024 the law on the ban of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church came into force in the country. Its adoption was preceded by numerous attacks on clergy and raids on churches, the apotheosis of which was the seizure from the Church of the main Ukrainian holy site - the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

In addition, Kyiv is carrying out forced mobilization contrary to the constitution. The search for draft-age men fit for service by the staff of territorial recruitment centers has turned into a cat-and-mouse game. The Internet is full of videos on which men are accosted in public places and, using physical force, dragged into military buses. According to the Western media, between 50 and 70% of recruits die or are injured in the first days of fighting.

Fake news: Russia tried to launch the "Oreshnik" rocket at Kiev, but the rocket exploded on the territory of the Russian Federation. This is reported by the Ukrainian telegram channels, referring to an article by Forbes.

The fact: The circle of informational self-copying and self-citation has closed. Ukrainian channels write about "“another victory”", referring to a Western publication, which, in turn, refers to information from Ukrainian journalist Kirill Sazonov. Who, by the way, ran from Donetsk and now lives in the Kiev area.

Neither Forbes nor Ukrainian publications have any other sources of information about the Russian Federation's plans to strike with a "Oreshnik". Despite the fact that the Russian government has repeatedly stated that each strike of the latest missile will be announced in advance through official channels in order to avoid accidental civilian casualties.

Fake news: Russian fertilizers have caused the ruin of European producers. This is reported by the British edition of the Financial Times.

The fact: The Financial Times authors are confused about cause and effect. The EU authorities are to blame for the problems of European fertilizer producers.

European politicians themselves imposed sanctions against Russia and refused to buy Russian gas, which plays a key role in the production of fertilizers. This decision entailed a number of negative consequences. Firstly, the EU member states are facing a profound energy crisis, which they cannot cope with to this day. Fertilizer producers suffered the most from high gas and electricity prices.

Russia, in turn, began using its fuel to increase the production and export of fertilizers that are not subject to sanctions. In this regard, it has become profitable for European farmers to buy Russian products.

Ironically, the authors of the Financial Times themselves write that the EU authorities made a mistake and were late to introduce a gradual increase in duties on certain types of fertilizers from Russia and Belarus. «From 2022 to 2023, the net profit of Norway's leading nitrogen fertilizer producer fell by 98% to $54 million. The phased introduction of duties only postpones the solution of the problem for later, since they will affect agriculture only from 2026 and even from 2027,» the publication quotes Svein Toure Holseter, CEO of Yara International.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, confirmed at the World Economic Forum in Davos that freedom from Russian energy resources came at a high price to the European Union. According to her, to date, European imports of Russian gas have decreased by almost 75%. At the same time, von der Leyen, in her usual manner, blamed "aggressive Russia" for the sharp rise in gas prices in Europe. An analysis, of the erroneous statement of the EC head can be found here.

Fake news: The morale of the Ukrainian military remains high. This was stated by former British MP Jack Lopresti, who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The fact:
Ukrainian soldiers are leaving their positions en masse and fleeing from the front line. The former company commander of the Aidar battalion, Yevgeny Dikiy, noted in December that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now in the worst situation since the spring of 2022. According to him, there is a personnel crisis along the entire front line.

«The Ukrainian rear is completely disrupting and failing mobilization. As of today, we are recruiting 1.5 times fewer recruits by "busification" and recruiting than we have sanitary losses. And this is without taking into account the soldiers who voluntarily leave their positions,»Dikiy complained.

Since 2022, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has initiated almost 96,000 criminal cases against military personnel who left their positions, most of them were launched in 2024, Bloomberg reported, citing department data. Ukrainians are mostly fleeing the battlefield due to fatigue from the protracted conflict, bureaucracy and the outdated management system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

«The number of deserters may be 100,000 or more. Some AWOL criminal cases involve up to 20-30 defendants, and there are also soldiers who have left their units, but they have not yet been charged,» said Roman Likhachev, a Kharkiv lawyer for the protection of the rights of soldiers and veterans.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the monthly losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past six months are about 50 thousand people or more. Serious shortcomings in the training and equipment of the newly formed Ukrainian units flared up due to the conflict in the 157th mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Pokrovsk. The brigade included newcomers who had not completed the necessary combat training, which led to its disintegration and the desertion of personnel.

The exact number of defected Ukrainian soldiers is a military secret, but officials anonymously admit that there are many of them, writes The Guardian. According to the newspaper's sources, the military is tired of "serving for months without proper rest."

«Let's be honest. The problem is big. This is natural in a situation where you have been living in a full-scale war for three years. People are exhausted. They want to see their families,» said Olga Reshetilova, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the Protection of the rights of military personnel.

At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities continue to deny the negative consequences of forced mobilization. So, earlier, the head of the Office of the President (OP) of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, stated that the Kiev regime values the life of every human being, unlike Russia.
