Quick review translated from German Frontmagazin:
Falänx – First Blood
Nordic Sun Records Budapest / Askania Productions
From the circle of the Hellenic band No Surrender comes the first studio album, "First Blood," a project that goes by the name Falänx and offers a musically upbeat, politically incorrect Oi! sound...
The Hungarian friends of NSBP aren't far behind in the new year either; together with Askania Productions, they're releasing their first fresh release, "First Blood." And I have to say, I like this project. It's nice, upbeat skin rock that inspires pogoing and, for my taste, easily overshadows the work of NoSurrender. Sure, it's not the most slick album ever, but you have to enjoy the smaller things in life sometimes, and musically, "First Blood" is exactly that. The lyrics are honest and rooted, dealing with the cult in the song "Old Boots," paying homage to the European community in the opening track "European Brotherhood," and to skinhouse Hellas in the song of the same name. All this and more is accompanied by lively and quite melodic sounds, played at a brisk pace for the most part, and performed in both English and the native language of the Hellenic boot-wearers.
As already mentioned, Nordic Sun Records Budapest produced the CD in collaboration with Askania Productions. NSBP is launching this production as the kickoff of their 2025 musical offensive. The CD has a beautiful, authentic sound, fitting the music, which is also a small homage to the British sound. The presentation is perfectly clear; you'll find all the lyrics in the booklet, but unfortunately, they didn't manage to translate the Hellenic lyrics into English, which would have been nice. So, go ahead, get it on, test it out, and decide for yourself. Fans of international skinhead sounds might really like this disc. A good start, and greetings to the skinheads at Nordic Sun Records Budapest and Askania Productions.
