Cllr Tom McDonnell from Kildare spoke with Sonny McDaid, the man assaulted by a gang of seven foreigners on Letterkenny’s Main Street last week. During the attack, McDaid says he was was told, “This is our town now.”
McDaid fought back and told McDonnell he was glad they attacked him instead of someone less capable.

Wilson told the crowd that when Eastern Europe joined the EU in 2004, he believes Ireland became a dumping ground for Eastern European criminals and social welfare tourists.
"I was a garda in Clones at the time... and early in 2004, it became very obvious to me that the prisons had been emptied in Europe and they all had been given one-way tickets to Ireland. They have caused chaos."

There's some disagreement with the rally attendance figures today.
RTÉ reports "more than 5,000" attended the rally, with 2,000 counter-protesters at the GPO. Meanwhile, rally organiser Malachy Steenson claimed 50,000 showed up and I get why he’d say that.
In 2023, both RTÉ and the Irish Times uncritically parroted a claim that 50,000 people had attended an anti-racism themed 'Rally for All'. RTÉ cited an organiser’s estimate without scrutiny, while the Irish Times flatly stated it as fact.
Yet compare the photos above taken from the drone footage in 2023 and the drone footage today. The Rally for All crowd was no larger than today’s rally.
Using the streetcam footage, I tallied 6,500–10,000 marchers today with ~1,000 counter-protesters at the GPO. But if Official Ireland is still committed to the rubber-stamp job they did on the 50,000 count for the Rally for All in 2023, they should at least be consistent and use Malachy's 50,000 count for the rally today.

🚨 Suspected child abduction attempt when a seven-year-old girl was waiting for the school gates to open outside Bunscoil Lughaidh Naofa in Carrickmacross.
"As she was walking in, a woman of another nationality approached her and asked her to come with her."
In response, the school has advised parents that the gates do not open until 8:45am and that it is their responsibility to ensure their children's safety at this time.

Afghan Man Sentenced to Life for Killing Romanian prostitute in Limerick
An Afghan national, Habib Shah Shamel, has pleaded guilty to the murder of 28-year-old Romanian prostitute Geila Ibram in Limerick and received a life sentence.
The PSNI arrested Shamel in Belfast after fleeing there by bus from Dublin following the incident. During the arrest, police recovered a rucksack containing a handwritten letter addressed to his mother in which he spoke of a wish to "sacrifice his life to Allah."
During interviews with police, he said he had gone to the escort to "satisfy his sexual needs'' because of something he had viewed online.
Investigators also found a USB drive with disturbing video content, including footage depicting executions, scenes of dismemberment, propaganda supporting jihad, and instructions for making and detonating IEDs. The court heard one clip even showed a man encouraging his young son to carry out a suicide bombing.
The fatal attack occurred on April 4, 2023, in Ms. Ibram’s Limerick apartment, where she had arranged to meet Shamel for sex. He paid her €100, which she passed to a colleague. Moments later, the colleague heard screams. Ms. Ibram had been stabbed five times.
Afghans are fast-tracked through Ireland’s asylum system with a 99% grant rate. Authorities insist that all asylum seekers are thoroughly vetted.
