The Necessity of Duality
The duality in human nature is often described as a balancing act between competing tendencies, where individuals strive to find a harmonious equilibrium between their various aspects.
The duality of human nature, the idea that individuals possess both good and evil tendencies, is a fundamental concept explored in literature, psychology, and philosophy. This duality is not seen as a flaw but as a reflection of the complexities of human behavior, making us capable of both love and hate, kindness and cruelty, compassion, and selfishness.
Duality can be understood in the concept of the Yin and the Yang
The following are some of the aspects of duality found in the Yin and the Yang:
○Interconnectedness: Yin and Yang are not separate but rather two sides of the same coin.
○Complementarity: They work together to achieve balance and harmony, not in opposition.
○Interdependence: They rely on each other to exist, and one can not exist without the other.
○Transformation: Yin and Yang can shift and transform into each other under certain conditions.
The s shaped river in the center of the Yin and the Yang can be best understood with the word "justification." It's through justification that one can rightly either delve into the light side of human nature or into the darkside of human nature.
The etymology of the word justification.
The word "justification" originates from Late Latin "iustificare" meaning "to act justly toward; to make just".
Justification in righteous retribution.
(A true story of righteous retribution)
In South Texas, a man was brought before the grand jury for killing a man who was molesting his daughter.
After his 5-year-old daughter crying from behind a barn, a father ran and discovered the unthinkable: A man molesting her. The father pulled the man off his daughter, authorities say, and started pummeling him to death with his fists.
With his daughter finally safe, the father frantically called 911, begging a dispatcher to find his rural ranch and send an ambulance.
“Come on! This guy is going to die on me!" The man is heard screaming on the 911 call. "I don't know what to do!"
This recording of the tape was played during a news conference where the Lavaca County district attorney and sheriff announced that the father would not face charges. None. Not even assault!
The father's murder of the man trying to rape his daughter was justifiable.
Vigilant justice and justification
○vigilant justice is way easier on the tax dollars. A case of bullets is cheaper than trial, hearings, and incarceration. More money is spent on incarcerating some scum bag criminal than educating a child.
○The law doesn’t always do it’s job with criminals. For example Pedophiles have been getting sentences as short as 2 years in protective custody just to molest another child.
○If you’re in a situation where you or someone else gets attacked or a serious crime occurs and you have a gun, you only have seconds to respond to stop the crime. Police could take up to 15 minutes to arrive.
The beauty of the darkness of justification.
The darker the night, the brighter the stars.
"In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present."
"Darkness deserves gratitude. It is the alleluia point at which we learn to understand that all growth does not take place in the sunlight,"
"Character, like a photograph, develops in darkness."
"Life isn't just about darkness or light. Rather, it's about finding light within the darkness," Landon Parham.
