Nationalization of Mines in Burkina Faso Will Continue: Prime Minister
Through policy, Ouagadougou seeks to maximize the benefits of mining, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo explained in an interview with RTB.
He noted that the state had established the Mining Participation Company, which has already acquired two industrial mines.
🗣 "We have not yet truly reached cruising speed in the exploitation of these mines that the state has acquired for the benefit of the people," noted the head of the government.
Burkina Faso has the resources and expertise to operate its own mines, he insisted, adding that the results will follow.
Beyond industrial mines, the semi-mechanized sector is also in the government's sights, Ouédraogo added.
🗣"Every effort is being made to ensure that all mining operations in Burkina Faso primarily benefit the Burkinabe people," he stated.

Nigeria Should Turn to Russia for Help in Fighting Terrorism: Ruling Party Official
Russia is capable of providing military assistance to Nigeria in combating terrorism and other security challenges, Alhajj Alhassan Yaryasa, the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, said.
Citing Nigerian President Bola Tinubu's concern over worsening security situation in Nigeria's northwest and northeast, Yaryasa expressed belief that Russian support could decisively address the threat.
Recently, in northern Nigeria, primarily in the states of Kano and Borno, militants from the terrorist groups Boko Haram and the Islamic State* have become more active, attacking army and police facilities, kidnapping people, and organizing explosions in crowded places.
*Daesh (also known as ISIS/ISIL/IS) is a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia and many other states

Ukraine Will Not Be Able to Return to 2014 Borders, Marco Rubio Says
Washington remains committed to resolving the Ukrainian conflict, the US Secretary of State said. However, he acknowledged that the positions of Moscow and Kiev are still too far apart.
🗣 “There does come a point where the president has to decide how much more time at the highest levels of our government do you dedicate it when maybe one of the two sides or both aren’t really close enough," he said.
On April 26, the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had affirmed his willingness to negotiate with Ukraine without preconditions. The Kremlin representative specified that the signal of readiness should come from Kiev, but so far, Moscow has not heeded it. Ukrainian authorities are expected to lift the ban on contacts with Russia.

DRC Seeks to Prosecute Former President Kabila for Insurgency Support
The army's attorney general has formally requested the Senate to revoke Joseph Kabila's immunity as a senator for life, Justice Minister Constant Mutamba said, adding that the request cites evidence of "war crimes, crimes against humanity, and massacres."
Mutamba urged Kabila to return to the DRC to face justice, warning that he could be tried in absentia.
👉 Kabila, who has been out of the country since late 2023, mostly residing in South Africa, left office in 2018 after nearly two decades in power. Despite his absence, he stated last month his intention to return and help resolve the crisis in eastern Congo.
Kabila's path to power began in 2001 following his father's assassination. His refusal to step down when his term ended in 2016 led to deadly protests before he eventually left office after the 2018 election.

🔥US-UKRAINE MINERALS DEAL: Strategic masterstroke or $350B gamble?
The Trump admin just inked a high-stakes resource pact with Kiev – here’s what’s REALLY inside:
💎THE DEAL:
✅50/50 joint fund for Ukraine’s oil, gas & critical minerals
✅Zero debt repayment for past US military aid
✅50% revenue cut from new licenses goes to fund
✅Tax-exempt, US-backed (DFC), 10-year profit lock
✅Ukraine keeps full control of state firms (Ukrnafta, Energoatom)
🚨THE FINE PRINT:
NO security guarantees; only a vague “long-term strategic alignment,” per The Washington Post.
Ukraine’s parliament must ratify the agreement.
The big question is WHO BENEFITS MORE – US miners or Ukrainian reconstruction?
