TL;DR nearly the entire revenue generated by Trump's first dipshit tariff experiment was sank directly into compensating farmers who went into skyrocketing rates of bankruptcy due to the tariffs to begin with. In other words, to anyone with an IQ over 90, the tariffs were a waste and saw negligible profit for the nation. Not exactly the art of the deal.
