The International Olympic Committee has called on winter sports federations to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete in tournaments in a "neutral" status, SVT Sport reports.
Admission to competitions will allow athletes to participate in the selection for the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. Currently, they do not have this opportunity.
SVT Sport writes that the IOC called last year's Summer Olympics in Paris with "neutral" athletes a "successful example."

Russians are very dissatisfied with Putin's proposal to grant the US access to Russian rare mineral resources as well as to those located in the occupied territory of Ukraine.
They find it quite hard to understand what is happening: Is the United States an enemy or a respected partner? And with whom and for what is the war being fought?

While a war rages on in the middle of Europe, and Ukrainian civilians are hiding from missiles in basements, leader of the Slovak National Party Andrej Danko decided it is time to demand the repayment of the aid sent to Ukraine by Slovakia.
"How will Zelenskyy pay us back the EUR 3,5 billion that we sent there? EUR 3,5 billion is a huge amount of money for us. If Germans, Frenchmen, and Americans demand their money back, Slovakia cannot stay silent."
Before making this statement, Mr. Danko famously travelled to Russia last year and expressed his wonderment in Moscow’s supermarkets, saying: “There are almost 50 kinds of butter here!”
He also remarked on the huge selection of cottage and cream cheese, and said he has never seen such variety in his life. Danko also showed that despite the sanctions, Coca Cola and other soda is available in Moscow.
It was quite an interesting and informative review of a Moscow supermarket, by the way.

Last night, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces and the Defense Intelligence struck a number of Russian strategic targets in the Krasnodar region of Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea, General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported.
The target was the occupiers' military infrastructure, in particular, the Saky and Kacha air bases on the peninsula. Also, the USF operators repeatedly attacked a strategic enterprise for the Russian economy - the oil refinery in Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, owned by Rosneft. At least 40 explosions occurred in the refinery area.
This is the most modern refinery in the company's structure. More than 90% of the oil products it produces are exported, which makes it important for the Russian energy industry and the financing of the war against Ukraine. The refinery is also one of the fuel suppliers to the Russian army.
Russian Telegram channels report that the attack damaged part of the ELOU-AVT-12 oil processing unit and a crude oil pipeline, capable of processing up to 12 million tons of oil per year. Explosions in different parts of Tuapse were heard for five hours.

As soon as Donald Trump announced that he will soon sign the deal on rare earth minerals with Ukraine, Putin decided to offer the US President “Russian” critical minerals.
Yesterday, Putin called an emergency meeting on the development of the rare earth minerals sector. In the meeting he suggested they could work together with the Americans in the Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine on the development of rare earth reserves, as well as regions across all of Russia.
Today, Putin’s spokesman Peskov said there is a lot of potential for joint projects with the United States on rare earth minerals.
Three main conclusions here:
▪️Russia wants to feel important on the global stage again. War in Ukraine didn't get them the accolades they so badly wanted - so now, they are suddenly interested in peace and cooperation with the West. This is both a cry for help from their ailing economy, but also a long game from Moscow. They want Western nations to depend on Russia again. Need I remind you, that peace through economic cooperation with Russia has already failed multiple times? Ukrainians and Georgians are living testament to that.
▪️Putin is looking for a way to effectively legitimize the occupation of Ukrainian territories. He is trying to make the underpinning principle of the new world order “Don’t ask for permission, pay for forgiveness.” There are nations who will be very happy to hear you can violate borders and annex territories of other countries, as long as you share your profits afterwards. This has the potential to destroy international law and the central principle of sovereign equality.

◾️According to the latest data, during the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation deported or forcibly transferred 19,546 children. And these are only the cases that have been officially recorded. Russia, in its turn, claims that 700,000 Ukrainian children have been taken away.
According to official figures, since the start of the full-scale invasion:
▪️ 592 children were killed;
▪️ 1 702 were injured;
▪️ 1 934 are reported missing.
(Real numbers are likely much higher)
Ukraine has managed to return 1,221 children, but thousands still remain in Russian captivity.

Russia's system of coerced adoption and fostering has been ordered and facilitated by Putin and Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova. Yale HRL has identified 314 individual children from Ukraine who have been placed in this system, and at least 67 of them have been naturalized as Russian citizens.
It is currently impossible to establish the exact number of Ukrainian children illegally adopted or taken into care by Russians because this information is concealed, and the documents of abducted Ukrainians are massively forged.
International humanitarian law prohibits the Russian Federation, as an aggressor, from deporting, forcibly transferring Ukrainian children and adopting them by citizens of the aggressor state. This is a gross violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Spain will give Ukraine EUR 1 billion in military aid in 2025.
This was announced yesterday by the PM Pedro Sánchez during his visit to Kyiv.
Sánchez emphasized that Spain will support Ukraine for as long as necessary and urged not to reduce the concept of peace to merely a ceasefire. He also stated that Madrid will continue assisting in Ukraine’s recovery and will involve Spanish companies in reconstruction projects.
