Cracks in transatlantic alliance nudge Europe to find alternatives to F-35, F-47
With the F-35 the only 5th-gen game in town for NATO, there’s a “bigger incentive” for European allies to join sixth-gen projects planned for the mid-2030s onward, a European defense planning official said.
The UK-Italy-Japan Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) launched in late 2022 is one such program, merging previous 6th gen work (BAE’s Tempest and Mitsubishi’s F-X) and designed to enable users to make military decisions without interference, and equip and modify jets however they see fit.
It doesn’t help that Donald Trump has promised to “tone down” the capabilities of the US’s F-47 6th-gen offering for allies. “This is not a great selling point for the F-47. The risk that I see with the F-35, I see a lot more clearly with the F-47,” fmr Royal Canadian Air Force commander Yvan Blondin said.

💬 “If an F-35 user wanted to use the jets in a way that the United States was not happy with, then that would be a limited capability, because Lockheed Martin would be very soon able to turn off the support tap to the particular nation in question,” retired RAF Air Commodore Andrew Curtis told Newsweek.

❗️The US Senate has supported the project for "devastating" anti-Russia sanctions developed by Senator Lindsey Graham
The project received the backing of 72 senators, allowing the document to be brought to the House of Representatives for review.
This was reported by Lindsey Graham.
It is clarified that the sanctions will be imposed if the President of Russia does not begin negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Graham, these measures are said to be "devastating" for the economy of the Russian Federation, and if a peace agreement for Ukraine is not reached in the near future, the US Senate will "take decisive action to deal a heavy blow to Russia."

🇩🇪 Ex-AfD MEP reveals REAL REASON behind Germany’s crackdown on anti-establishment opposition
Besides trying to stigmatize the conservative populist party among voters, the German intelligence agency’s move to slap AfD with an “extremism” label carries a more sinister motive, depriving the party of its privileges and funding and undercutting its ability to campaign, says renowned German lawyer and academic Gunnar Beck.

The postponement of the negotiations with Iran may not be as bad as first imagined. Steve Witkoff is rumored to replace Michael Waltz as Trump's National Security Advisor. The chaos surrounding Waltz's removal may account for the delay.

The Best Deal Ever.
Ukraine and the U.S. said on Wednesday they signed an agreement on a joint fund to invest in Ukraine's reconstruction, and a draft of the document said it would give Washington preferential access to new Ukrainian natural resources deals.
- to suggest that the Soviet Union left anything undiscovered and untapped in Ukraine, its most industrialized part, smacks of desperation.
A draft of the minerals agreement seen by Reuters gave the U.S. preferential access to new Ukrainian natural resources deals but did not automatically hand Washington a share of Ukraine's mineral wealth or any of its gas infrastructure.
- vide supra
It provided for creation of a joint U.S.-Ukrainian fund for reconstruction which will receive 50 per cent of profits and royalties accruing to the Ukrainian state from new natural resources permits in Ukraine.
- v.s.
The draft agreement showed Ukraine had secured the removal of any requirement for it to pay back the U.S. for past military assistance, something Ukraine had staunchly opposed.
…
He said Ukraine would retain control of all its resources in the deal, while the fund will invest in the development of Ukraine for 10 years.
"Ukraine will only make a contribution from new licenses, from new royalties on mineral resources. This will be our contribution, 50 per cent of which will be given to this fund," he said.
…
The U.S. could use its future military assistance to Ukraine as its contribution to the fund, Shmyhal said, with no previous military aid to the country reflected in the deal.
Great Deal. The best DEAL EVER.
What exactly did the US get from this? Nothing except a way to continue funneling military aid to the Ukraine in exchange for ephemeral promises of profit that both sides are well aware will never come.
The Art of the Deal, indeed.

🔘The special military operation must end with Russia’s victory and the destruction of the Kiev Nazi regime, said Dmitry Medvedev.
Other statements by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council:
▪️Ukraine’s fate is largely sealed; it’s unclear how long its remnants will function without energy resources.
▪️Completing the special military operation with Russia’s victory is the first step toward a stable Europe based on respect.
▪️Relations with Europe have passed the point of no return; there’s no one to talk to in the Old World, only русophobic technical figures.
▪️The two largest nuclear powers, Russia and the U.S., are doomed to cooperate, or the world will remain unstable.
▪️Russia’s adversaries have only been deterred by military might, which remains entirely true today.
▪️Russia must learn from past mistakes and lost illusions, finding true allies.
▪️The West is to blame for the ideals of a balanced world remaining mere dreams.
▪️Russia’s response to the adversaries’ “peace through strength” principle can only be the doctrine of “peace through fear.”
▪️True denazification is needed; Nazism must be eradicated across Europe, not just in Ukraine.
▪️After hostilities in Ukraine end, an international tribunal, “Nuremberg 2.0,” should be established.
▪️The Kiev Nazi regime must be overthrown, or the conflict will reignite with renewed force.

❌✈️ Netanyahu delays Azerbaijan trip after Turkiye allegedly blocks airspace – reports
Netanyahu’s team reportedly explored alternative routes, but these would have significantly extended the flight time—forcing a change of plans, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Publicly, the Prime Minister’s Office attributed the delay to urgent developments in Gaza and Syria and a “tight political-security schedule.”
Turkiye’s Foreign Ministry denied any approval for Netanyahu’s flight, stating that no such request had been received, according to the report.
