Before age 7, the brain is mostly in theta waves—the same state as hypnosis. Children don’t analyse what you say. They absorb it.
So when you say “good girl” or “bad boy,” they take that on as identity. Not behaviour. Not choice. Identity.
Now imagine if you’d heard “good choice” instead. It teaches discernment. It builds an internal compass. It tells the child: you’re safe because you can feel what’s right—not because someone else approves.
It’s such a small change. But it rewires everything.
Where would you be now if you’d grown up hearing “good choice”?

Most people are still ruled by fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of getting it wrong. Fear of not being safe. And when fear is driving the bus, it doesn’t matter what direction you go, you’re still not in control. It’s easy to point fingers, 2020 is a classic example, and say “they were the problem.” That the ones who did comply put everyone in danger. Or that the ones who didn’t did.
But that’s not the point. The deeper truth is that both positions can come from the same place: fear. And the more fear there is, the more we will see danger everywhere we look. We’ll keep projecting it outward. Keep trying to control others. Keep demanding safety from the external world instead of finding it inside ourselves.
Until we go within, until we learn to meet our fear instead of obeying it, we’ll keep repeating the pattern. Different year, different crisis, same reaction.
You don’t wake up by picking a side. You wake up by asking who’s really making the decisions inside you.
