The Kansas City Fire Department has confirmed the death of a firefighter and paramedic after he was stabbed by a patient early Sunday.
Missouri: According to KCFD, 29-year-old Graham Hoffman died on April 27 from wounds sustained during what started as a routine medical call.
Emergency crews were dispatched to North Oak and 152 Highway around 1 a.m. on April 27. While the patient was being transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital, she stabbed Hoffman in the chest.
The injured firefighter paramedic was taken to North Kansas City Hospital, where he remained in critical condition for several hours. Later on Sunday, however, KCFD confirmed that he died of his injuries.
“Despite the efforts of first responders and medical teams at North Kansas City Hospital, Firefighter Hoffman succumbed to his injuries. He was 29 and served with the Kansas City Fire Department since 2022,” KCFD stated.

On April 27, 2025, Deputy Brandon Sikes of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was tragically killed in a senseless act of violence during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 20.
Sikes is survived by his wife, Amber, who is also an employee of the Sheriff’s Office.
Governor Brian Kemp expressed his condolences, stating, "Marty, the girls, and I are praying for the loved ones and colleagues of the Columbia County sheriffs deputy that has fallen in the line of duty, as well as his fellow law enforcement officer injured tonight while protecting his fellow Georgians.
As they remain in our hearts and prayers, we’re also painfully reminded of why those who wear a badge have more than earned our enduring respect and appreciation."

Indiana: A Mooresville police officer has been released from the hospital after he was struck by a car during a police chase Saturday evening in Morgan County.
According to a release from the Brooklyn Police Department, shortly before 6:30 p.m. April 26, Morgan County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to pull over a Dodge sports car, which fled at a high speed northbound on State Road 67.
A Mooresville PD officer deploying Stop Sticks at State Road 67 and Sunset Lane, near Brooklyn, was struck by the suspect car, which drove around the officer's car.
The officer was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with non-life-threatening injuries, Mooresville PD said Saturday night.
On Sunday, Mooresville Police Chief Kerry Buckner told 13News the male officer had been released from the hospital to continue recovery at home. Buckner said the officer suffered a broken thumb and some sprains. The officer was on crutches but is expected to be OK, Buckner said.

Iowa: The railroad crossing by the bridge in Marquette is currently blocked due to the derailment of multiple rail cars.
Due to the blockage, there is no through traffic on Highway 76 between Marquette and McGregor. People going to and from McGregor, as well as Casino Queen Marquette and Marquette’s Bench neighborhood, are asked to go up and around via Highway 18.

South Carolina: The State Law Enforcement Division confirmed to WMBF News on Sunday morning that they are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach Police said officers saw a disturbance around 11:50 on Saturday night near the 900 block of North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.
Police said 11 individuals were injured and are receiving medical treatment. The individual shot during officer response has died from his injuries.
Police said during the altercation, officers saw someone fire a gun, at which time the department said an officer also fired their weapon.
