Anundshög – a very important and ancient Swedish location – has been looted. 40 holes have been dug, in places the archaeologists haven't yet investigated, and most likely a lot of objects as old as from the bronze age have been stolen. These kinds of places were used over millennia.
The area includes, among many other things, 12 burial mounds (of which the main one is Sweden's largest), 15 ship settings, 14 menhirs, one rune stone and a ritual labyrinth. Within one of the burial mounds there's also a ritual hearth from the 200's, and Anundshög was also used as a thing/assembly.
May the retribution of those who rest there be very severe and harsh upon those guilty.

It's not at all impossible that sacred space among the earliest Indo-European peoples looked like this. A clearly marked out rectangular space – perhaps with hemp rope – a main square fire altar, a round altar representing the domestic, a bowl of water for purification before ritual and a dug out little pit to offer to the ancestors and land spirits. P.s. Based on what we know & also based on the sources and customs of the slightly later IE peoples most likely the altars would've also been strewn with grass, since the altar was both for offerings and to offer the deity a seat.
