🇷🇺 President Vladimir Putin visited Severodvinsk (near Arkhangelsk) on March 19, 2024 to attend the flag-raising ceremony for two new nuclear submarines: the “Emperor Alexander III" (Borei-A class ballistic missile submarine) and the "Krasnoyarsk" (a more modern Yasen-M class multipurpose submarine).
Putin emphasized that the new submarines would act as a deterrent and would enhance Russia’s strategic security.
- The "Emperor Alexander III" is capable of carrying Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).
- The "Krasnoyarsk" is equipped with Kalibr and Oniks cruise missiles, and will eventually carry Zircon hypersonic missiles.
President Putin praised the shipbuilders for their work, despite Western sanctions.
“Not long ago I said, ‘We’ll crush them.’ Now there’s reason to believe we’ll finish them off,” Putin told naval officers with reference to the conflict in Ukraine.
“The only thing left is for the Ukrainians themselves to come to the realisation of what is happening”
Reminding his audience of the West’s lack of good faith when negotiating the Minsk Agreements and Boris Johnson’s sabotage of the Istanbul peace talks in 2002, Putin said:
“Their European handlers convinced the Ukrainian leadership that they had to continue armed resistance... essentially to the last Ukrainian,”
“He (Boris Johnson) must have forgotten that there are people like you – and weapons like your submarine... Apparently, he forgot, or maybe they simply do not understand what the Russian people are made of.”

2. Oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities, including pumping stations.
3. Electricity generation and transmission infrastructure, including power plants, substations, transformers, and distribution facilities.
4. Nuclear power plants.
5. Hydroelectric dams.
The temporary moratorium will be in force for 30 days, starting on March 18, 2025, and can be extended by mutual agreement.
In the event of a violation of the moratorium by either party, the other party has the right to consider itself free from obligations to comply with it.
