Colossians 3:22-24
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God; And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Beginning in Isaiah 1, the major prophecy set in pre-captivity Judea, the Southern Kingdom, Isaiah preached in the 8th century BC, in a similar timeframe as the minor prophets and Kings and Chronicles we have recently covered, and so the themes are familiar.

Israel is gone astray, into adultery with foreign gods, idols, and wickedness. Blood of the innocent shed, the poor defrauded, the widow uncared-for. The sickness of the rulers, even in Judah, has corrupted the Temple as well. God is displeased, and is warning of His coming judgment.

Here, in Isaiah, God is pleading with the people, Let us reason together. The Lord has made it clear, from Moses to their present that if they walked in His commandments, they would be His people, and He would be their Lord and the land would be theirs and be blessed.

And yet they fall short, and worse, commit iniquity. Unrighteous judgment. He cannot abide it any longer.

Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

This calls back to the pleading of Abraham before Sodom's destruction , that if there were yet ten righteous men, God would spare the city. But it also points to our own time, and the coming judgment.

Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

We are the righteous remnant. Believers are the salt that preserves the earth and withholds God's judgment. We are called to retain that savour, to be faithful and to obey the Lord's commandments, being a light unto the world.

And when the fullness of the nations comes, and the salt loses its savour, a falling away, the small remnant will be taken like Lot, spirited away by the angels of God at Jesus coming. And His wrath will pour out on the unrighteous.

But, as always, God's refining judgment will lead to the redemption of those who trust in Him. The city of righteousness will be ours. That faithful city, Jerusalem the mother of us all.

1 Peter 2:9-10
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Hebrews 4:14-16
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

1 John 5:11-15
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Sacerdotalism is the heretical teaching that a priest class are essential mediators between God and humanity. That none come to the Father themselves, through Christ, Who is our High Priest, Who is our only mediator, but that we need men to act as intermediaries.

Catholicism again spoils God to give to men the divine roles and responsibilities.

As for priests, every saved believer is of the priesthood of Christ. Giving the gospel that others become part of that holy priesthood of believers. A peculiar people. Separated unto the gospel of God.

“I should not readily admit that there was a Baptist Church as far back as A. D. 100, though without doubt there were Baptists then, as all Christians were then Baptists.” -John Clark Ridpath, 1900
06.02.202523:47
“Were it not that the Baptists have been grievously tormented and cut off with the knife during the past twelve hundred years, they would swarm in greater number than all the Reformers.”—Hosius, Letters, Apud Opera, p. 112, 113. 1524

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

I still need to read Revelation 1-5 for today. Running late. But this doctrine of apostasy, those who believed in vain, who tasted the gift but didn't consume it, who left the doctrine of Christ and went out from us, is really reinforced over and over again.

Not the backslidden. Not those who believed and were unfruitful. Not those saved who didn't go to church. But those that leave the doctrine of Christ, and believe on something else, were NEVER saved

Amen! People who countersignal stricter standards are bad enough. Those that actively subvert bare-mininum, clearcut Biblical standards, the basics, are vipers and should be marked and avoided.

Isaiah continues the prophecy against Moab. The Lord councils Moabites to be kind to fleeing Israelites. That if they show mercy to the remnant seeking refuge from the Assyrians, the Moabites will receive His mercy as well.
06.02.202511:16
The word of the Lord, as preached by Amos, contains very clear language and promises. Not as rich in dark saying and vague symbols as people portray the books of the prophets.

He tells Amos, smite the lintel of the door that the posts shake and fall on the heads of the Israelites, and the Lord will slay all of them with the sword. A reverse Passover, where the blood of the lamb on the lintel saved the people.

No matter where they seek to hide, the Lord shall have their lives. Dug underground to Hell, the tops of mountains, the bottom of the sea, even surrendering to captivity, there is no escaping the wrath against Israel, nor the end times wrath it pictures.

The Lord is mighty, and all powerful. Amen! The Lord is His name.

Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the Lord. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

The Israelites of the Northern Kingdom are utterly disowned. No better than the Ethiopian. Just as He took the children of Israel from Egypt, He says, so too He took the Philistines from Caphtor, which is Crete and the Syrians from Southern Babylon, which is Kir. They aren't the only nation taken and moved by God to a new land, and made mighty. And they aren't the only people He chooses to destroy.

It is humbling to know He thinks no more of these people, called by His name and who betrayed Him, than the heathen nations who are their enemies.

Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

Because that remnant of Jacob will lead to Christ, and the promise the Lord made unto David, and the place, Jerusalem, which He placed His name, in Jesus.

He sifted them as He does all nations. And all the sinners of His people slain. Wew.

With the promise of wrath and destruction, God the long-suffering and merciful offers that blessed hope.

In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.

Jesus, the Son of David, restored to His throne in His Kingdom. And the promise is not just to believing Israel, or to the "Jews," but even to Edom, to the heathen which are called by His name. To the remnant of the Gentiles that believe on Christ. His people, Israel, to the paradise of His eternal Kingdom.

And they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.

Isaiah 15 and the 15th book of the Bible, Ezra.

Isaiah 15:9
For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land.

Ezra 9:14
Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?

Isaiah 15:2
He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.

Ezra 9:3
And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.

Amos 9
I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.

2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:

3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

5 And the Lord God of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

6 It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.

7 Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the Lord. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.

13 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.

The 16th book of the Bible, Nehemiah, and Joel, in the Hebrew ordering.

Isaiah 16:10
And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

Nehemiah 5:1-5
And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews. For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live. Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth. There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards. Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

Joel 1:5
Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
04.02.202513:14
Follow the commandments of God that it be well with you. Follow the Law to show that you love Jesus. Hold others to standards that it should lead them to understand they are sinners in need of redemption. Advocate for the law because it is good, when used lawfully, to punish evildoers.

Romans 7:12
Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Tithe. Go to church. Stay sober and vigilant. Win souls. Edify the brethren. Don't lie. Don't steal. Don't lust in your heart or fornicate with your members. Don't cheat each other. Look after one another and place the brethren's profit above yours.

This shouldn't be controversial.

Isaiah 16
Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.

2 For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.

3 Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.

4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: but his lies shall not be so.

7 Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn; surely they are stricken.

8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.

9 Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.

10 And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

11 Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirharesh.

12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.

13 This is the word that the Lord hath spoken concerning Moab since that time.

14 But now the Lord hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of an hireling, and the glory of Moab shall be contemned, with all that great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and feeble.
