I am actually growing very pro trumps tariffs. They were horribly implemented and made him look bad but overall it's a good first step to boxing in China and preparing America for the eventual conflict. I think the military knows the clock is ticking (in terms of us being able to win) and we may even force Chinas hand by slowly militarizing taiwan and getting Russia to be a neutral party that will stay out of a China US conflict. The tariffs prepare the US economy for a soon to be China war and will probably raise manufacturing as a % of our gdp by a few points. Dropping the tariff on Iphones was stupid but it was probably one caviat trumps cabinet felt was necessary.
My take is that America should basically Prussianize it's economy, we should have a vertically integrated domestic system of military production that allows us to have the most powerful military in the world.
