Compost Worms—Organic Vs Non-Organic
When you feed compost worms organic and non-organic broccoli, there are some differences in how they respond and break down the material. See what happens in this home tested experiment.
Organic Broccoli:
Decomposition: Organic broccoli usually decomposes more naturally and quickly because it is free from synthetic pesticides and chemical residues.
Worm Health: Worms tend to thrive on organic matter since it is closer to their natural diet. Organic broccoli can contribute to a healthier worm bin environment.
Microbial Activity: Organic produce often has a richer microbiome, which can support more diverse and robust microbial activity within the compost, enhancing decomposition.
Non-Organic Broccoli:
Potential Residues: Non-organic broccoli may contain pesticide residues or synthetic fertilizers, which can sometimes negatively affect worms.
Slower Decomposition: Some chemicals used in conventional farming slow down microbial breakdown, making the composting process less efficient.
Worm Sensitivity: Some worms may avoid non-organic broccoli or consume it more way more slowly. In many cases, certain chemicals can harm worms, decreasing activity or even leading to mortality.
What Does This Mean for Your Worm Bin?
When your goal like ours is to maintain a natural healthy and efficient worm composting system, it’s best to stick to organic produce as much as possible. For not just your worms health but your own!

I hate to share a link from reddit, but I believe this is worth looking at if you've been taking lions mane mushroom, or you know anyone who has. I've been taking it for a while, and I haven't noticed any side effects, but apparently there haven't been any human safety studies, and a lot of people have reported severe side effects. I'm not sure if it's specific to certain brands, or manufacturing processes, or if it only affects people who are sensitive to choline. But it appears to be risky enough that you should exercise extreme caution with it. If anyone has any ideas or information about what could be causing these reactions, I'm very curious to learn more.

I shared this because I thought they were worms at first. It turns out that flies do spread the eggs of parasitic worms, in addition to the bacterial infections they're better known for.
