Raphael Sanzio: The School of Athens (detail)
"Raphael included a self-portrait beside Ptolemy. Raphael is the second character who is looking directly at the viewer in the artwork, the first being Hypatia - a woman in the white robe, who stands between Parmenides and Pythagoras."
Jake Baddeley: Logic
"There is a marriage within man himself where his reason weds his dream; where his mind -masculine and domineering- unites in spiritual wedlock to the heart -kindly, sympathetic, and compassionate. This is the real romance of the Gods. None shall ever reach wisdom until within himself these nuptials have been consummated and love and logic, hand in hand, guide the spirit in its search for understanding. Thus man is guided in his search for truth and led to the greater goal of cosmic understanding."

- Manly P. Hall

Art: Raphael: The School of Athens, 1509-11
Johfra Bosschart: The Seven Ships at the Lake

"In the arches; the hermaphrodite: the opposites, male and female, yin and yang, ida and pingala, have been joined. The spiritual seeker is not polarized in male or female anymore; he is truly androgyn. The seven ships carry away the decapitated bodies of the three royal couples. Again symbols of the transformation that took place. The seven ships can also been seen as the seven chakras that went through the transformation process."
Johfra Bosschart: The Three Royal Couples

"After having ascended a spiral staircase CRC arrives at the Bridal Room: there are three thrones with three royal couples: young, middle aged and old. A lot of symbolism here. First the three stages of life. The spiral staircase can refer to the spinal column and the ascent of the kundalini. Note the Ouroboros serpent on the floor. When the kundalini leaves the spinal cord it arrives at the pineal gland/ ajna chalra where opposite energies of ida and pingala are unified: thus the symbolism of the Wedding. The crown at the ceiling refers to the Crown of the Great Work."
Johfra Bosschart: Bacchus, 1981
Greg Hildebrandt: Hel

(2/2) ".. the Absolute Man and Absolute Woman are conceived not only from a heuristic point of view as being abstract measurements for masculinity and femininity, but also ontologically and metaphysically as being real primordial powers that are always and inseparably present and active in men and women, even though actual men and women show such powers to a greater or lesser degree."
