Wael Jaghoub, liberated in the Toufan al-Ahrar exchange, was ordered to 5 1/2 months in administrative detention — imprisonment without charge or trial. This follows the administrative detention order issued against Abdel-Rahman Burqan, also abducted by the occupation after his release in the exchange.
Wael Jaghoub has been a highly visible public spokesperson for the cause of the prisoners and of Palestinian liberation since his release, writing multiple articles and appearing on podcasts and interviews. This builds upon his years of study and leadership inside the occupation prisons; his targeting by the occupation is a direct attack on the liberated movement leaders. He was seized in the early morning hours of Tuesday, 6 May, from his home in the Rafidia neighborhood of occupied Nablus.
Born on 23 May 1967, Wael was involved in activism from an early age, especially with the advent of the first great popular Intifada. In 1992, he was arrested and sentenced to six years in prison for his resistance to the occupation, before being released in 1998.
With the outbreak of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, his leading role reemerged, and on 1 May 2001, the occupation arrested him, where he was subjected to harsh and long interrogation, and later the occupation sentenced him to a life sentence for his role in the resistance to the occupation regime as a leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
During his years of captivity, Wael Jaghoub was subjected to solitary confinement on multiple occasions, as the occupation prison administration deliberately isolates active prisoners from their comrades because of their effect on the development and growth of the prisoners’ movement. As a result of this isolation, he was deprived of family visits for years.
He was active within the prisoners’ movement at an organizational level, serving as deputy head of the PFLP’s prison branch for several years, and has also been one of the most prominent writers of the prisoners’ movement.
During his imprisonment, he published several books and studies, reflecting the collective concern of the prisoners’ movement, including “Letters of the Detention Experience,” through which he chronicled various stages of the struggle of the prisoner movement and its martyrs; “The Organizational and Detention Experience of the Prison Branch Organization,” which covers the period between (2006-2016), written together with his comrade, fellow prisoner Kamil Abu Hanish; and “Asira Dreams,” which was published in 2007. He also published articles and political studies related to prisoners, and various intellectual studies, including a study on the crisis of the Palestinian left and seeking its renaissance.

A Palestinian-Brazilian hacktivist group announced on Saturday, 17 May, that it had infiltrated and defaced the websites of over 30 local government institutions in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in order to demand immediate and meaningful action from Brazil to stop the ongoing genocide in occupied Palestine, particularly in Gaza. They took the name, the Cyber Brigades of the Martyr Walid Khaled Abdullah Ahmed, named for the Palestinian-Brazilian 17-year-old martyred in Zionist occupation prisons on 23 March 2025. An autopsy revealed that the teen boy — healthy prior to his abduction by occupation forces from the village of Silwad — was martyred in Megiddo prison, with his body showing clear signs of starvation, extreme malnutrition, and scabies as well as infections caused by the provision of unsanitary food. His body remains imprisoned by the occupation along with hundreds of Palestinian martyrs. He is among at least 69 martyrs of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement since 7 October 2023, amid the ongoing genocide being waged against the Palestinian people in Gaza by the Zionist regime and the imperialist powers, particularly the United States.
The group’s statement follows:
We, the Cyber Battalion of Martyr Walid Khaled Abdullah Ahmad
Today, on May 17th, a day marking another year of colonial occupation in Palestine, we carried out a digital defacement operation against 31 targets in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil. The purpose of this action is to remind the world—and Brazil—of their responsibility to take action against the ongoing genocide.
We have taken the name of a Palestinian-Brazilian martyr, our brother, who was starved to death in Zionist dungeons at the peak of his youth—just 17 years old.
We call for direct actions that force the Brazilian state to sever ties with the Israeli murderers and their apartheid government. The powerful must know no peace as long as they remain aligned with the colonizers. Brazilian oil still fuels the tanks destroying Gaza. Mossad technology is still imported into Brazil and used against its own people. Enough is enough.
We demand:
The release of all our prisoners.
The return of all our refugees.
The liberation of our Palestine, from the River to the Sea.

In times where the voices coming out of Palestine are decreasing more and more, not because they willingly stopped covering the Occupation's massacres but because they sacrificed their lives doing so, we must all honor our commitment towards amplifying their voices, no matter how long the road ahead. Our beloved's final pleas and goodbyes should fuel in us a rage and fire like never before. While the world keeps failing them, we must remain steadfast on our stance and keep defending the truth until the very end inshallah.
This Sunday, show up not only for them but for your own conscience because if the occupation gave us 77 years of catastrophe, the least we can give them is 77 years of unshakeable resistance and more.

🚨 Statement issued by the family of political prisoner Imad Abu Al-Haija:
We, the family of the political prisoner held by the Palestinian Authority security services, Imad Abu al-Haija, emphasize that they bear full responsibility for the life of our son Imad, due to the complete lack of news about him since the moment he learned of the death of his mother, the freed prisoner Asmaa Abu al-Haija, who is the wife of the prisoner Sheikh Jamal Abu al-Haija and the mother of the martyred activist Hamza Abu al-Haija and the prisoners in the occupation prisons, Abdel Salam, Asem and Banan.
We have received news that he has been on hunger strike for the fifth consecutive day. He was released from the Naqab desert occupation detention center in poor health and has been detained by security forces for six months.
His family are deeply concerned about his health, even though he was ordered to be released, but the security services did not release him for him to say his final farewell to his mother.
We call on all human rights and humanitarian institutions to investigate our son's condition.
We appeal to all honorable and conscientious people, and demand the immediate release of our son from the security services' prisons.

🔻NAKBA 77🔻

✊🏽 Palestina no necesita caridad, necesita apoyo real

77 Years of Ongoing Nakba – 77 Years of Ongoing Resistance
Seventy-seven years since the Zionist project violently expelled our people from their homes, stole their lands, and established a settler-colonial entity atop the ruins of historic Palestine, the Nakba continues. The occupation of 1948 was not an isolated event but the foundation of an ongoing colonial regime that seeks to erase Palestinian existence across all our land—from Gaza and the West Bank to the villages and cities occupied since 1948, including Haifa, Yafa, and Lyd. Today, as Zionist forces escalate massacres in Gaza, besiege Jenin, and deepen ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem and the Naqab, we reaffirm: The struggling youth and students of Palestine, the diaspora, and the world are the inheritors of a struggle for total liberation, not mere survival.
The United States and its imperialist allies remain the driving force behind this injustice, arming and legitimizing the Zionist entity while pressuring Arab regimes to normalize its colonization. These regimes, in Riyadh, Cairo, Amman, and Abu Dhabi, shamefully prioritize profit over principle, betraying Palestine to serve foreign agendas. We categorically reject all attempts to legitimize the occupation of any inch of Palestine, from Safd to Um El Rashrash, or fragment our cause. The so-called “two-state solution” is a colonial mirage; our people’s rights—to return, to self-determination, and to reclaim all stolen land—are non-negotiable.
It is clear today that the rifle and the rocket will be what liberates our land. The Resistance in Gaza and the Arab region has inflicted heavy losses on the Zionist and American aggressors, pushing the imperialist world rapidly towards collapse and irrelevance. The Palestinian Youth in Diaspora, joined by internationalist strugglers, must ignite a global intifada to permanently end the 77-year Nakba, declaring ourselves: “Behind the enemy everywhere!”
The road to liberation is long, but our path is unwavering: All of Palestine, from the river to the sea, will be free. The youth of today inherit a legacy of resilience. Let us honor it by dismantling colonial lies, defending our people’s right to return, and forging global solidarity until the occupation, in all its forms, since 1948, is dismantled.
