In rural America, most people still use cash. My parents still refuse to order stuff online because they don't "trust computers" with their bank account information. The coin shortage from a couple years ago was perceived as a government ploy to stop people from using cash and control their financial activity. The argument is sound, but getting rid of the penny will only further paint the Trump regime as a silicon valley oligarchy and alienate him from the conservative base.
