Foreign powers and their allies need to understand the fundamental flaw in their approach to Iran. Attempting to impose a fragmented, sectarian government through a manufactured “unity” of exiled groups—many of whom have no legitimacy inside Iran—is not just foolish, but dangerously shortsighted. This strategy has failed before in the region, and it will fail again in Iran.
First, injecting Islamist groups like the MEK and separatists into the opposition is not a move toward democracy; it is a deliberate attempt to weaken Iran from within. The MEK is a widely despised cult with zero support inside Iran, and separatist movements are viewed as foreign pawns working to dismantle Iranian sovereignty. Propping up these factions does not create stability—it fosters resentment, deepens divisions, and undermines genuine opposition to the Islamic Republic.
Second, revolutions are not built on a patchwork of unknown figures with no political or social capital. A successful transition requires leadership with real credibility, not opportunists vying for a slice of power. By trying to engineer an opposition made up of irrelevant factions, foreign powers are ensuring only one outcome: the failure of their own strategy.
History has already proven this approach wrong. The West’s past attempts to impose sectarian governance—whether in Iraq, Libya, or Afghanistan—have resulted in chaos, corruption, and endless cycles of conflict. Iran is not an artificial state cobbled together by colonial borders. It has a deep historical identity, a unified national consciousness, and a people who reject the very factions the West is trying to promote.
The Iranian people are not fooled. They see through the illusion of “unity” when it is merely a ploy to inject weak, controllable figures into their movement. Any group that aligns with this foreign-backed scheme will immediately lose credibility and political relevance.
If foreign powers truly want a stable and democratic Iran, their best course of action is simple: stop meddling. Let Iranians determine their own future, free from imposed leadership and geopolitical games. Anything less is not just interference—it is an insult to the intelligence and resilience of the Iranian nation.
