🕯Today we remember Trayvon Martin, 13 years after his life was taken at the hands of racist vigilante violence at only 17 years old.
Despite a mass movement sweeping cities and towns across the country, his murderer, George Zimmerman, was acquitted. In his first week in office, Donald Trump chose to pardon two DC police officers, Terrence Sutton and Andrew Zabavsky, who murdered a 20-year old Black man, Karon Hylton-Brown – sending a message to like-minded bigots, like George Zimmerman, that they won't face consequences for violence against Black people.
This racist, capitalist system that has taken the lives of countless members of our communities is rotten to the core – and in their names, we will not only continue to demand justice for ALL victims of bigoted violence, but fight for an entirely new system!
