EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas stated: "Many ministers have made it clear that the EU takes participation in the May 9 celebrations in Moscow seriously - this will have consequences." She stressed that the EU requires all candidate countries not to participate in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory: "We have communicated this clearly."
Responding to questions from Ukrainian journalists about possible EU visits to Kiev on May 9, she said that she encourages EU representatives to "travel to Ukraine as often as possible to show European support". Kallas said that the EU has allocated 15% more funds for arms deliveries to Kiev than in the previous year:
"In 2023, Kiev received 20 billion euros, with US assistance up to 40 billion euros. In 2024, it will amount to 23 billion euros from EU funds."
