🇺🇸❗️🇧🇷 — U.S. President Donald Trump once again mentioned Brazil in his statements about the tariff hike announced earlier this month. The remarks were made during an interview with Time magazine, marking his first 100 days in office.

“Look, that’s what China did to us. They charge us 100%. If you look at India, they charge between 100% and 150%. If you look at Brazil, if you look at many, many countries, they charge — that’s how they survive. That’s how they got rich.
Remember this: there are no tariffs if they manufacture the products here. This is a tremendous success. You haven’t realized it yet, but what’s happening is a huge success. We are collecting billions and billions of dollars — money we never collected before.”

🇺🇸🤝🇵🇾 — 🇮🇷 The U.S. Department of State congratulates Paraguay for designating Iran’s IRGC as a terrorist organization and expanding the designation of Hezbollah and Hamas. “Important steps that weaken terrorist networks in the Tri-Border Area,” the official statement says.
Congratulations to Paraguay for Confronting Iran and its Proxies 🖇
"The United States welcomes President Santiago Peña designation of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, and expanding Paraguay's 2019 terrorist designations of the armed wings of Hizballah and Hamas to encompass the entirety of these organizations.
Iran remains the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world and has financed and directed numerous terrorist attacks and activities globally, through its IRGC-Qods Force and proxies such as Hizballah and Hamas. The important steps Paraguay has taken will help cut off the ability of the Iranian regime and its proxies to plot terrorist attacks and raise money for its malignant and destabilizing activity, including in the Tri-Border Area Paraguay shares with Argentina and Brazil.
The United States will continue to work with partners such as Paraguay to confront global security threats. We call on all countries to hold the Iranian regime accountable and prevent its operatives, recruiters, financiers, and proxies from operating in their territories."

"I would even like His Excellency, Minister Alexandre de Moraes—I know it's not part of the procedure—but why don't Your Excellency, since you're so certain I'm a coup plotter […] how about the two of us, in public, on live national television, debate this case? Since you're so sure I'm a criminal, let's do it. TV Globo, same thing, two or three hours live for you to accuse me of everything—jewels, vaccines, whales, everything. I just want half an hour, of course, to defend myself.
I had an invasive procedure this morning, my intestines aren’t working. Unfortunately, I’m going to the imaging room now, they’ll apply contrast, and I could have signed later without issue. But since you insisted… Have you ever served someone in an ICU room in your life? You're not to blame for anything, please forgive me if I seem agitated […] He [Moraes] thinks that by arresting me or removing me from public life, it’s over. That Brazil's problems are solved. But it’s not like that.
You're just following orders here, but—not your case specifically—please remember that the people in Hitler’s courts also followed orders to send Jews to gas chambers. They all paid their price one day, and it won’t be different in Brazil. What they’re doing to me is cowardice.”

🇧🇷🏛❌🤡⭐ — ⚠️ In an unprecedented move, the leader of União Brasil (the largest centrist party in the Chamber of Deputies), Pedro Lucas (MA), has decided to decline President Lula’s (PT) invitation to take over the Ministry of Communications. The congressman had initially accepted the position and met with the leftist president two weeks ago.
➡️ At the time, he requested that the swearing-in take place only after the Easter holiday, but has now reversed his decision. According to Institutional Relations Minister Gleisi Hoffmann, Pedro Lucas said he needed that time to “address some personal matters” and others related to his leadership of the party’s caucus.
➡️ The reason for the rejection appears to be internal divisions within the party that his joining the government would have intensified. In a statement, the congressman thanked the president but said he would “contribute more to the country and to the government itself in the role I currently hold in the Chamber of Deputies.”
🇧🇷 The deputy’s refusal presents a historic embarrassment for Lula amid growing uncertainty over the government’s congressional support. The Palácio do Planalto has yet to comment on the announcement. Moreover, the turmoil within União Brasil may lead to a reduced role for the party in the leftist administration as a form of retaliation, deepening the institutional crisis.

Jair M. Bolsonaro (@jairbolsonaro) on 𝕏 🖇
➡️ The Filipe Martins case will one day be remembered as one of the greatest scandals in the history of the Brazilian judiciary. A true laboratory of abuses, authoritarian restrictions, procedural distortions, and a series of illegalities, created with a single purpose: to build a narrative and, through it, a shortcut to try to target the person they truly intended to imprison.
➡️ This young man, who was my international advisor, was thrown into prison over a trip he never made. He has been deprived of freedom for months, subjected to isolation, censorship, and surveillance, without the right to respond and now even prohibited from being photographed or filmed… And now they even want to put him on trial because of a “draft” that doesn’t exist and that he clearly did not write.
➡️ Filipe Martins has my full support. What they’re doing to him is unacceptable cowardice and a warning about the direction Brazil is heading.
➡️ I extend that same support to Colonel Câmara and all others accused as part of the so-called “core 2.” None of them have or have ever had privileged jurisdiction. Yet they are being judged directly by the Supreme Federal Court, without the right to appeal to higher courts and subjected to arbitrary legal innovations and creative interpretations by Alexandre de Moraes.
➡️ I have said it before and I repeat: the world is watching closely. And finally beginning to understand what is happening in Brazil, a country where political persecution disguises itself as justice, and where authoritarianism grows with every silence imposed. The Economist article is just the beginning.

🇻🇪🇻🇪🚫🇸🇻 — The Nicolás Maduro regime reacts furiously to Nayib Bukele’s proposal to exchange imprisoned Venezuelan criminals in CECOT for political prisoners: “It is a kidnapping and a concentration camp created by Bukele’s macabre mind"
📝 See full statement below:
📝 See full statement below:
"In response to the cynical statement made by President Nayib Bukele, in which he reaffirms that 252 Venezuelan citizens illegally deported from the United States are arbitrarily detained and in a condition of forced disappearance in a concentration camp of that country, we wish to denounce the following:
Bukele’s statement, who makes his worldwide debut in this way as the most faithful exponent of 21st-century neo-fascism, demonstrates that these citizens are kidnapped at the unilateral disposal of an individual outside the law who publicly and through the media declares to the planet that he tyrannically decides who may or may not enjoy life and freedom in El Salvador.
As we explained in a letter addressed to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, the treatment received by Venezuelans in the United States and El Salvador constitutes a serious violation of international human rights law and amounts to a crime against humanity that mimics the repugnant Nazi practices of the mid-20th century.
For this reason, I am now sending communications to the Attorney General of El Salvador and the Supreme Court of that country questioning them on:
a) What crimes have these Venezuelan citizens committed in El Salvador?
b) When were they presented before a judge?
c) Have they had access to a lawyer?
d) Have they been allowed to communicate with anyone since the moment of their detention?
As Attorney General of Venezuela, I immediately request the full list with identification of all those kidnapped and their judicial status, as well as proof of life and a medical report for each one.
The entire world should be appalled by the fact that CECOT is no longer a torture center created by Bukele’s macabre mind to punish criminals in his country, but rather a site of forced disappearance of innocent Venezuelans (according to arrangements with his imperial partners), whom, as an expert in human trafficking, he uses to receive millions of dollars in return.
What has been stated above demands that all international organizations call for the immediate release of our compatriots, who are now vilely kidnapped by a tyrant, and that they proceed to sanction this criminal conduct which violates the most sacred principles of international coexistence, justice, and peace."
