The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) announced that it decided to disband and end its armed struggle with the Turkish state, which lasted over 40 years.
The announcement comes a couple of months after PKK’s jailed leader, Abdullah Öcalan, issued a statement from prison titled “Call for Peace and a Democratic Society,” in which he asked the group to lay down arms and dissolve itself.

#PeoplesHistory | 🇵🇸77 Years of Nakba: Resistance Amid Ongoing Catastrophe
Today marks the anniversary of the Nakba (“catastrophe”), the process of massacres, village destruction (500+ razed), and the forced expulsion of 1 million Palestinians in order to establish the state of Israel.
But the Nakba never ended. Palestinians today endure apartheid, genocide, and displacement—yet their anti-colonial resistance persists, rooted in a century of struggle against imperialism and Zionism.

In his lifetime he has served as an officer in the Soviet KGB, as a private citizen (taxi driver) trying to make ends meet in the post-Soviet era, an advisor to the Mayor of Saint Petersburg, within the Presidential administration of Boris Yeltsin, as the head of the Russian state security service, as the prime minister of Russia, and as the president of Russia.
During this time, the Soviet Union collapsed, the Russian Federation was born, Russia struggled with the consequences of the failure of Perestroika and Boris Yeltsin’s inept leadership, fought two wars in Chechnya, three wars in Georgia (Ossetia 1991, Abkhazia 1992-93, and the 2008 war), intervened in Syria, and continues to wage a three-plus year conflict with Ukraine and the collective West.
