Dr. Ron Rhodes: BEAR NOT A SINGLE CARE THYSELF
“Bear not a single care thyself,
One is too much for thee;
The work is Mine, and Mine alone;
Thy work — to rest in Me.”
—Anonymous
This short poem portrays God speaking to one of his children who is burdened by too many cares. The poem echos a truth that permeates the psalms — and that is that the Lord offers to take all our cares upon Himself. We need not be overwhelmed.
The psalmist writes: “The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble” (Psalm 9:9). “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (46:1).
God invites us, “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me” (50:15). The psalmist urges, “Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you” (55:22).
When cares press in and trouble threatens to undo us, we must remember that our strength is not in ourselves, but in the One who never grows weary. The Lord calls us to rest in His power and lean into His promises. Whatever weighs heavy today, release it into the hands of your faithful God. He who holds the stars also holds you, and He will surely sustain you.

Dr. Ron Rhodes: A PRAYER FOR OVERCOMING PERSISTENT SIN
I know from private messages that some of my X (Twitter) friends are wrestling with persistent sin. If that’s you, know that you’re not alone. I offer this prayer as an aid to overcoming:
Heavenly Father,
I come before You humble and aware of my weakness. Your Word speaks of “the sin that so easily entangles,” and I feel its persistent grip in my life.
Father of mercies, the shame of repeatedly falling into the same sin creates in me a cycle that feels impossible to break. I fall, I repent, I resolve to do better, and then I fall again. This cycle robs my joy.
Lord, You see my struggle. You know how this particular sin trips me up time and again, despite my best intentions and efforts. I confess this sin before You now, acknowledging that I cannot overcome it through my own strength alone.
Grant me the courage to “throw off everything that hinders,” as Hebrews teaches. Help me fix my eyes completely on Jesus, who endured the cross and showed us the way to persevere. When temptation comes, remind me of Your presence and the freedom You’ve already secured for me.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, that I might find the strength to resist. You have promised, “walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Help me in my walk.
Father, where I am weak, be my strength. Where I am blind to my own shortcomings and failings, bring clarity. Where habit has formed chains, break them through Your mighty power.
I also ask that you surround me with fellow believers who can encourage me and hold me accountable. Help me to run with perseverance the race You have marked out for me, unburdened by the weight of this sin.
I trust in Your forgiveness and Your grace. Please transform me by the renewing of my mind from the truths of Scripture.
Thank You for Your patience as I grow, and for never giving up on me. Thank you that you will never forsake me.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.
