Vladimir Putin made a visit to the Bauman Moscow State Technical University and held a meeting on the development of space exploration

Founded in 1830, the Bauman Moscow State Technical University is considered a talent factory for the Russian space industry, among other sectors. Its alumni include the great Soviet rocket engineer Sergei Korolev.

During his visit, the President toured the dormitory complex and the recreational facility before having a conversation with several of the university's top students.

Later, Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the development of space exploration. The discussion revolved primarily around the national project for the development of the space sector both until 2030, and for the long term until 2036.

Some of the key statements by the President:

🔹The best national traditions in terms of space industry personnel training are upheld and enriched today. The contribution from young people to Russia's various space projects must be increased.

🔹Russia's space exploration ambitions should be in line with its historical status of a leading space power. The potential of the country's space industry must be developed so as to make it one of the driving forces behind the national development, the technological transformation of the economy, and the improvement of the quality of life for citizens.

🔹A comprehensive national project in the field of space exploration will be approved in the very near future. It should serve to articulate as clearly as possible both short-term and long-term goals of Russia's space programme. This will make it possible to set specific tasks for research institutions as well as the education and training system right now.

🔹An entire industry for space communications, navigation, as well as satellite data collection and analysis is to be established by 2030. Innovative and competitive solutions must be made available domestically. With that object in mind, the relevant national project must include support measures for Russian universities, research institutions, design bureaus, and private companies in the sector.

🔹The national project must also provide for a qualitative step forward in the field of space nuclear energy. Russia's uncontested leadership in the sector must be asserted further.

🔹Fundamental outer space research must become one of the crucial aspects of the national project for the development of space exploration. Achievements in the field may contribute significantly to international programmes. Russia is open to cooperation and is willing to implement joint projects.

🔹Any space exploration projects are complex and require significant investment. However, as a large sovereign country, Russia has a vital need for such projects.

Key statements by the President at the State Council Presidium meeting on the Infrastructure for Living national project

🔸The master plans for developing communities should envision what the city, district centre, or village in question will be like in 6 to 12 years from now and anticipate the social and economic changes, proposing relevant infrastructure projects to be implemented.

🔸Although Russia's construction sector is growing rapidly, the current trends and macroeconomic situation suggest there is a risk of a slowdown. Appropriate steps must be taken by the Government in cooperation with the Bank of Russia.

🔸Banks impose additional fees on citizens eligible for preferential mortgage loans. This issue must be dealt with, especially since the state does grant the banks funds to subsidize these loans.

🔸The private housing construction sector must receive a boost, and special attention must be paid to the issues of allotting land plots, providing necessary infrastructure, and establishing reliable procedures so that citizens could invest in building private housing.

🔸345,000 people are to relocate from dilapidated buildings to new flats by 2030, with at least 6.2 million square metres of housing no longer fit for living set for demolition.

🔸Over the past six years, more than 600 billion rubles of federal funds alone were allocated for the development of housing and utilities infrastructure. 3,655 infrastructure facilities and over 10,000 kilometres of public utilities underwent modernisation. According to some estimates, the overhaul of the housing and utilities infrastructure to be done by 2030 will require at least 4.5 trillion rubles, to be covered both by the budget and private investors.

🔸At the moment, more than half of regional-level roads and 85 percent of the road network in 105 urban agglomerations are up to regulations. The momentum that has been achieved in this area must not be lost, and any tasks must be solved efficiently and reliably.

The President chaired a meeting of the supervisory board of the Movement of the First national child and youth movement. Key statements by the President:

🔸With over 11 million members at the moment, the Movement of the First is expanding, being active in both big cities and smaller communities.

🔸The movement must offer its members equal opportunities nationwide, all over the country, which is why its infrastructure must be expanded and improved further.

🔸A universal, integrated, and cohesive system of mentorship must be established where children and young people live and where they study, including secondary schools, vocational schools, universities, and additional education establishments, as well as at summer camps.

🔸More and more participants in the special military operation become mentors in the movement. It is crucial that children and teenagers see that real heroes are right there beside them and grow up and mature seeing them as role models exemplifying true valour and love for their country.

🔸This year marks the 80th anniversary of Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War. Members of the Movement of the First take care of military memorials and burial sites, serve as guards of honour on commemorative dates, and, together with their parents, study the history of their ancestors, including those who fought on the frontlines and those who toiled on the home-front. Such personal involvement, this kind of immersion in the events of the war years helps preserve the very substance of historical memory of the feat of the Soviet people, fostering crucial moral values.
