I like living in a home I don’t own. I love knowing there’s a place I can go to, and a place I can leave. I know the neighbors, the cat that comes around every day at noon, the walls, the stairs. and I know I won’t be here for long. so I touch and leave no fingerprints. I will learn to guess the puzzle without most of its pieces.

and you can’t do that with a place of your own. once you’re the one drawing a circle and calling it home, you can never truly leave it behind. It follows you everywhere. and there won’t be a second chance. you can’t return to somewhere you never left.
