Korea’s Incheon Airport Corp. to manage Uzbekistan's Urgench airport
🇺🇿 Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC), the operator of South Korea's largest airport Seoul Incheon, won the tender for modernization and management of Urgench International Airport (UGC, Uzbekistan) under the public-private partnership (PPP) project, Uzbekistan Airports reported.
Once the concession agreement is signed, the Korean company to operate the Uzbek airport over the next 19 years.
Under the public-private partnership, the Korean partner will build and manage the passenger and cargo terminals, including ground handling. The state partner Uzbekistan Airports is to build and manage the airfield complex (runway and apron).
Open two-stage tender for the implementation of the project “Modernization and Management of Urgench International Airport” under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model was announced in August 2024.
Eight companies took part in the tender, five of them made it to the second final stage, following which the winner was determined by the interdepartmental tender commission.
The project is being implemented by Uzbekistan Airports together with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.
"The announcement of an open tender has generated great interest from large international airport companies. <…> We are confident that the [IIAC] team that will implement the project in Urgench will turn the gateway of Khorezm into one of the most modern and convenient for passengers, will increase the attractiveness of the region for foreign tourists and, in general, will contribute to the development of the aviation sector of republic,” Uzbekistan Airports commented.
Urgench is located in the northwest of the Central Asian republic, near the border with Turkmenistan. In 2024, the airport served 696,000 passengers, representing a healthy 18% year-on-year growth, 5,500 flights were performed (+11%).
Seoul Incheon became the third busiest international airport (70.7 million passengers, up 5.7%), ceding only to Dubai (DXB) and London’s Heathrow in 2024.
IIAC, fully-owned by the Government of South Korea, has carried out over 30 international business expansions in 15 countries.

Air Astana delays launch of the US flights
🇰🇿 Kazakhstan’s largest carrier, Air Astana, will postpone the launch of its direct flights to the United States due to another delay in the delivery of its new long-haul Boeing 787 aircraft, company CEO Peter Foster told reporters.
"Unfortunately, the delivery is being delayed due to the broader issues currently affecting Boeing," Forbes Kazakhstan quoted Foster as saying.
According to the CEO, the delivery schedule has shifted from late 2025 to mid-2026. Air Astana ordered three Boeing 787-9 aircraft via Air Lease Corporation in 2022.
In 2024, representatives of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) conducted a preliminary technical audit of Kazakhstan, including Air Astana. This was the first step toward securing FAA Category 1 status, a requirement for launching direct air service between Kazakhstan and the United States.
Air Astana had also planned to use the Boeing 787-9 to launch flights from Almaty to Tokyo. The airline has already signed a codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines (JAL), allowing it to place its code on JAL flights from Tokyo to Fukuoka, Nagoya, Okinawa, Osaka, and Sapporo.
Foster confirmed that the first flight to Tokyo is now scheduled for March 28–29, 2026, but it will be operated using narrowbody Airbus A321LR aircraft. The airline previously extended the aircraft’s range by installing additional fuel tanks, enabling it to reach Japan's capital, he explained.

Национальный перевозчик Узбекистана взял эти самолеты в лизинг у SMBC Aviation Capital для расширения своих дальнемагистральных маршрутов.
Технология бортовой связи NSG поддерживает видеостриминг, связь в реальном времени и обеспечивает возможности для работы во время полета.
Это решение основано на использовании сети SES Open Orbits, которая позволяет бесшовно переключаться между собственными спутниками и космическими аппаратами других операторов, обеспечивая непрерывное и стабильное покрытие.

Ранее NSG подписала соглашения на установку своих систем спутникового интернета на самолетах Airbus A350 Turkish Airlines, а также на A321neo и Boeing 777 авиакомпании Thai Airways.

Четвертый самолет LET L-410 пополнил флот группы Uzbekistan Airways
🇺🇿 Сегодня, 7 апреля узбекистанская региональная авиакомпания Silk Avia, входящая в группу Uzbekistan Airways, получила четвертый, заключительный, турбовинтовой самолет местных линий L-410 UVP-E20.
19-местные самолеты, произведенные чешской компанией LET Aircraft Industries, приобретаются в рамках программы развития внутриреспубликанских авиаперевозок.
«Эти надежные самолеты значительно улучшат транспортную доступность удаленных регионов и укрепят связи между городами страны. Мы продолжим расширять маршрутную сеть, чтобы сделать воздушное сообщение доступным для еще большего числа наших граждан», – отметил Шухрат Худайкулов, председатель правления Uzbekistan Airways.
В настоящее время L-410 используются на маршрутах Нукус – Муйнак, Ташкент – Шахрисабз, Ташкент – Заамин.
Кроме этого, в парке Silk Avia есть еще пять 70-местных ATR 72-600.
Самолеты L-410NG приобретают все большую популярность в странах Центральной Азии/Закавказье – не только среди коммерческих операторов, но и госзаказчиков.
Так в конце марта МЧС Казахстана получило первый из четырех таких самолетов.

Узбекская авиакомпания My Freighter нашла партнера в Мексике
🇺🇿 Крупнейший по размеру флота грузовой авиаперевозчик Узбекистана – My Freighter заключил интерлайн-соглашение с мексиканской авиакомпанией Aeromexico.
Оно начало действовать с 1 апреля и позволяет My Freighter отравлять грузы рейсами Aeromexico в мексиканские аэропорты Мехико (MEX), Гвадалахара (GDL) и Монтеррей (MTY). Мексиканский перевозчик получил возможность доставлять грузы до аэропорта Ташкента (TAS) в Узбекистане и далее по Центральной Азии грузовиками материнской компании My Freighter – Centrum Holding.

Квартальный пассажиропоток азербайджанской AZAL вырос на 7% несмотря на закрытие российских направлений
🇦🇿 Национальный авиаперевозчик Азербайджана AZAL (Azerbaijan Airlines) сумел нарастить пассажиропоток за первый квартал 2025 года, несмотря на закрытие ряда российских направлений.
В первые три месяца с начала года авиакомпания перевезла 865 тыс. пассажиров, на 7% больше, чем за такой же период годом ранее.
Количество направлений сократилось до 48 (было 53) – временно прекращены полеты по ряду российских направлений, что связано с безопасностью полетов.
При этом количество выполненных рейсов выросло на 4% до 3,72 тыс.
Показатель пунктуальности составил 89%, улучшившись на 1 п.п. Причем в марте перевозчик точно по времени выполнил 93% своих рейсов.
В Azerbaijan Airlines отметили, что компания «продолжает активно развивать маршрутную сеть, улучшать качество обслуживания и обеспечивать высочайшие стандарты безопасности и комфорта для своих пассажиров».
Так, с апреля AZAL возобновил регулярные рейсы из Баку в Самарканд (Узбекистан), а с июня расширяет географию полетов в Турцию, запуская прямые рейсы из Баку в Международный аэропорт Чукурова, расположенный между городами Адана и Мерсин.

Air Astana отложит открытие рейсов в США
🇰🇿 Крупнейший авиаперевозчик Казахстана Air Astana отложит начало полетов в США из-за очередной задержки с поставками новых дальнемагистральных самолетов Boeing 787, рассказал журналистам глава авиакомпании Питер Фостер.
«К сожалению, поставка задерживается ввиду общих проблем, которые на данный момент есть у Boeing», процитировало его слова издание Forbes Kazakhstan.
По словам главы Air Astana, начало поставок самолетов перенесено с конца 2025 на середину 2026 года. Перевозчик заказал три самолета Boeing 787-9 через лизинговую компанию Air Lease Corporation в 2022 году, в том числе, для открытия прямых авиаперелетов в США.
В 2024 году представители Федеральной авиационной администрации США (FAA) провели предварительный технический аудит Казахстана и Air Astana. Он стал первым шагом на пути получения статуса от FAA категории 1, необходимого для запуска прямого авиасообщения между Казахстаном и США.
Ожидалось, что Air Astana будет использовать Boeing 787-9 и для начала полетов из Алматы в Токио.
Авиакомпания уже подписала код-шеринговое соглашение с японской Japan Airlines, по которому она сможет размещать свой код на рейсах, выполняемых JAL из Токио в Фукуоку, Нагою, Окинаву, Осаку и Саппоро.
Фостер подтвердил, что первый рейс в Токио планируется на 28-29 марта 2026 года, но на нем будут использоваться узкофюзеляжные самолеты Airbus A321LR. 🇰🇿 Крупнейший авиаперевозчик Казахстана Air Astana отложит начало полетов в США из-за очередной задержки с поставками новых дальнемагистральных самолетов Boeing 787, рассказал журналистам глава авиакомпании Питер Фостер.
«К сожалению, поставка задерживается ввиду общих проблем, которые на данный момент есть у Boeing», процитировало его слова издание Forbes Kazakhstan.
По словам главы Air Astana, начало поставок самолетов перенесено с конца 2025 на середину 2026 года. Перевозчик заказал три самолета Boeing 787-9 через лизинговую компанию Air Lease Corporation в 2022 году, в том числе, для открытия прямых авиаперелетов в США.
В 2024 году представители Федеральной авиационной администрации США (FAA) провели предварительный технический аудит Казахстана и Air Astana. Он стал первым шагом на пути получения статуса от FAA категории 1, необходимого для запуска прямого авиасообщения между Казахстаном и США.
Ожидалось, что Air Astana будет использовать Boeing 787-9 и для начала полетов из Алматы в Токио.
Авиакомпания уже подписала код-шеринговое соглашение с японской Japan Airlines, по которому она сможет размещать свой код на рейсах, выполняемых JAL из Токио в Фукуоку, Нагою, Окинаву, Осаку и Саппоро.
Фостер подтвердил, что первый рейс в Токио планируется на 28-29 марта 2026 года, но на нем будут использоваться узкофюзеляжные самолеты Airbus A321LR. Ранее авиакомпания увеличила дальность их полета за счет установки дополнительных топливных баков, и теперь они могут долетать до столицы Японии, объяснил глава Air Astana.

In addition, Sovico Group, the owner of VietJet, has interests in Kazakhstan. At the end of 2024, the company signed the purchase agreement to acquire a controlling stake in Qazaq Air, with the intention of transforming the regional airline into a significant player in the Central Asian market.

Intensity of use of Azerbaijan's airspace increased by 31% last year
🇦🇿 In 2024, a total of 309,655 flights were served in the airspace of Azerbaijan (+30.8% year-on-year), the State Concern of Civil Aviation AZAL reported.
This includes 229,000 transit flights served by controllers of country’s air navigation services provider Azeraeronavigatsiya (AZANS, part of AZAL), representing an impressive 35.5% growth over prior year.
Azerbaijan's role as a transit country has increased significantly in recent years.
The airspace of the Caspian republic is becoming more and more attractive due to the crossing of air routes connecting Europe and Asia, as well as due to the fact that AZANS was able to quickly provide a safe and reliable air corridor for foreign airlines following start of a full-scale Russian-Ukrainian military conflict.

21 airlines to fly to Samarkand this summer
🇺🇿 A total of 21 airlines will serve Samarkand during summer navigation. This information was shared with CentralAsia+ Aero by Air Marakanda, the managing company of Samarkand Airport.
During the summer season, the gateway of the major tourist destination in Uzbekistan is expected to handle an average of 234 flights per week.
Several new routes will be added to the airport’s schedule:
• Russia’s Ural Airlines launched flights from Krasnoyarsk to Samarkand, operating once a week (from April 1);
• Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) resumed flights from Baku, operating twice a week (from April 2);
• China Southern Airlines, will resume flights from Urumqi to Samarkand, operating once a week (from April 7);
• Kazakh regional airline Qazaq Air will restart its Turkistan–Samarkand route, with two weekly flights (from May 1);
• the airport’s base carrier Air Samarkand will launch weekly flights to Tel Aviv (from May 4).
Additionally, Air Samarkand plans to increase flight frequencies to Sharm El-Sheikh this season and is considering launching new routes, including Tbilisi, Batumi, Baku, among others.

China's SF Airlines launches all-cargo flights to Tashkent
🇺🇿 SF Airlines, China's leading cargo airline, has launched flights between Lanzhou (LHW) and Tashkent (TAS). The first all-cargo flight to Uzbekistan's capital was performed today, April 2, Uzbekistan Airports management company said.
Flights are planned to be operated by Boeing 757-200PCF twice a week initially, with the frequency is expected to increase in the future.
The main Uzbeki airport’s recent introduction of a modern cargo terminal complex, which has quadrupled throughput capacity and significantly raised the level of service provided, is obviously contributing to the development of cargo business there.
Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport, from which flights to Tashkent have been launched, is a major air hub for the province of Gansu as well as western China.
SF Airlines is China's largest air cargo carrier. Having started with one airplane in 2009, it currently operates 90 Boeing freighters. Its main bases are Shenzhen Bao'an, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Shanghai Pudong and Beijing Capital International Airport.
The airline is part of one of China's largest logistics groups SF Holding Company Limited.

Kazakh airlines to launch 20 new international routes this summer
🇰🇿 Kazakhstan’s airlines will open 20 new international routes during the summer navigation season, the country’s Ministry of Transport announced.
The largest number of new routes—10—will be introduced by Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, Air Astana. At the end of March, the airline already launched flights from Almaty to Guangzhou, China, and to the Vietnamese resort city of Nha Trang from both Almaty and Astana.
In April/May, Air Astana will begin flights from Almaty to Mumbai (India), Osh (Kyrgyzstan), Frankfurt (Germany), and Da Nang (Vietnam). Da Nang will also be served from Kazakhstan’s capital.
Two more routes will be added from Atyrau, connecting it with the capitals of two South Caucasus republics—Baku and Tbilisi.
Air Astana’s low-cost subsidiary Fly Arystan will launch flights from Almaty to Yining (Ghulja) in northwest China and from Karaganda to Istanbul, Turkey.
Central Asian republic's largest privately held carrier SCAT Airlines will launch seven new international routes from its home airport in Shymkent, where it opened a new passenger terminal in December.
Three of the new destinations are in China: Xi’an, Shanghai, and Urumqi. SCAT will also fly from Shymkent to Europe for the first time, with routes to Budapest and Munich, as well as to Cairo and Seoul.
Qazaq Air will introduce a new international route from Astana to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, with a stopover in Turkistan.
In 2024, Kazakh airlines collectively carried a record 14.7 million passengers, up 10.6% year-on-year.
Passenger traffic continued to grow in Q1 2025, with 3.3 million passengers transported between January and March—a 2.2% increase over the same period in 2024, according to government statistics.
Kazakhstan currently maintains air connections with 28 countries via 121 routes, with a total frequency of 660 flights per week, the Ministry of Transport reported.

🇺🇿 Privately held Uzbeki carrier Centrum Air has selected an IT solution from local provider TurnaTech to offer travel agencies direct access to flight bookings and ancillary services via the airline’s own host system.
The carrier has launched Turna Gate API which enables secure integration between the airline’s inventory system and agencies. Its functionality allows agents to search, book, and sell tickets and ancillary services without GDS commission fees. It also supports automated exchanges and refunds.
“TurnaTech’s technology gives airlines the tools to reduce distribution costs, establish transparent and mutually beneficial relationships with agents, and improve the end-to-end service for travelers. We’re proud that Centrum Air is putting its trust in a local tech partner and investing in a direct distribution future,” said Hanan Lokshin, CEO of TurnaTech.
TurnaTech began operations in Uzbekistan in 2024 and is a resident of IT Park Uzbekistan. Its first local client was Fly Khiva airline, which implemented the Turna PSS passenger service system and the Turna Shop ticketing module in December 2024.

Планируется, что грузовое авиасообщение будет осуществляться на самолетах Boeing 757-200PCF, дважды в неделю на начальном этапе; в дальнейшем ожидается увеличение частоты.
Развитию грузового бизнеса в главном узбекистанском аэропорту, очевидно, способствует недавнее открытие современного грузового терминального комплекса, увеличившего пропускную способность в четыре раза и значительно поднявшего уровень предлагаемого сервиса.
Аэропорт Ланьчжоу Чжунчуань, из которого запущены рейсы в Ташкент — это крупный авиаузел, обслуживающий не только провинцию Ганьсу, но и западный Китай.
SF Airlines — крупнейший в Китае грузовой авиаперевозчик. Начав с одного самолета в 2009 году, в настоящее время эксплуатирует 90 фрейтеров. Его основными базами служат аэропорты Шэньчжэнь Баоань, Ханчжоу Сяошань, Шанхай Пудун и Пекинский столичный международный аэропорт.

Kazakh air freight specialist Alpha Sky launches BBJ business charter services
🇰🇿 Kazakhstan-based privately held air cargo carrier Alpha Sky has announced the launch of charter passenger flights.
For this new venture, the airline will operate a Boeing Business Jet 737-700 outfitted with a VIP cabin configuration.
It accommodates 22 passengers and features a lounge area, office, conference room, private bedroom, two bathrooms with showers, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The business jet was received at the end of March and is based at Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), the airline told CentralAsia+Aero.
“The new Boeing Business Jet 737-700 will allow the company to offer world-class flights—both individual and corporate,” the airline said in a statement.
Alpha Sky’s fleet also includes two Boeing 737-400s and one Boeing 757-200F freighters. These are used for freight operations across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Saudi contractor to provide high-speed internet on Uzbekistan Airways’ A321neos
🇺🇿 Neo Space Group (NSG), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), agreed to provide provide in-flight connectivity for upcoming Uzbekistan Airways’ Airbus A321neo narrowbodies. The Uzbekistan’s flag carrier leased these aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital to support its growing long-haul network.
NSG’ IFC technology supports video streaming, real-time communication, and business productivity for travelers.
This solution is based on the SES Open Orbits network, which enables seamless switching between the provider’s own and leased satellites in different orbits to ensure continuous and uninterrupted coverage.
“Partnering with NSG to introduce state-of-the-art in-flight connectivity is a major milestone, ensuring that our travelers can stay connected, productive, and entertained throughout their flights. We believe that staying connected at 35,000 feet is no longer a luxury, but an essential part of the journey, and we are proud to bring this service to our valued passengers,” said Shukhrat Khudaykulov, Chairman of Uzbekistan Airways’ Board.
The new A321neo, line-fitted with high-speed IFC services, are scheduled to arrive to Uzbekistan in 2026.
Uzbekistan Airways already operates five A321neo LRs on long-range flights from Tashkent to Europe and Southeast Asia, alongside its Boeing 787 widebodies.
NSG has earlier agreed to install its satellite-based IFC systems on the upcoming Airbus A350 aircraft of Turkish Airlines, as well as THAI Airways' future A321neo and existing Boeing 777 fleets.

The 19-seater, manufactured by Czechia-based LET Aircraft Industries, are being acquired as part of a program to provide air services to local destinations in Uzbekistan.
Currently, L-410s are used on the routes Nukus - Muynak, Tashkent - Shakhrisabz, Tashkent - Zaamin.
Silk Avia also operates five 70-seat ATR 72-600s.

Uzbeki airline My Freighter Finds a Partner in Mexico
🇺🇿 Uzbekistan’s largest cargo carrier by fleet size, My Freighter, has signed an interline agreement with Mexican airline Aeromexico.
Effective from April 1, the agreement enables My Freighter to ship cargo on Aeromexico flights to Mexico City (MEX), Guadalajara (GDL), and Monterrey (MTY).
In return, the Mexican airline can now transport cargo to Tashkent airport (TAS) in Uzbekistan, with further distribution by trucks across Central Asia via Centrum Holding, My Freighter’s parent company.
“With AeroMexico’s extensive network and fleet of 8x B787-8s and 14x B787-9 Dreamliners, and My Freighter’s growing fleet of 7x B767-300BCFs plus a newly added B757-200F, we are unlocking new routes and greater efficiency for our customers around the world,” the Uzbek airline said in a statement.
Currently, My Freighter can deliver cargo to North America, including several major U.S. airports, thanks to a previous interline agreement signed with American Airlines. The air freight specialist also has similar agreements with the Challenge Group and Spain’s Air Europa.

Azerbaijan Airlines’ quarterly traffic grew despite suspension of flights to Russian destinations
🇦🇿 AZAL, Azerbaijan's flag carrier has managed to increase passenger traffic for the first quarter of 2025 despite the suspension of flights to a number Russian destinations.
In the first three months since the beginning of the year, the airline carried 865,000 passengers, 7% more than in the same period last year.
The number of destinations decreased to 48 (from 53) as a result of the suspension of flights to a number Russian destinations on safety concerns. The number of flights operated increased by 4% to 3,718.
The punctuality rating was 89%, having improved by 1 p.p. year-on-year, with March on-time performance rating reaching 93%.
Azerbaijan Airlines said it “continues its efforts to expand its route network, enhance service quality, and maintain the highest standards of safety and comfort”.
Starting early April AZAL has resumed regular flights from Baku to Samarkand (Uzbekistan), and to expand the geography of flights to Turkey, launching direct flights from Baku to Chukurova International Airport, located between the cities of Adana and Mersin since June.

Uzbeki airports traffic to exceed 17 mln passengers in 2025
🇺🇿 Combined traffic of Uzbeki airports are expected to grow by “at least a third” this year, Zhavlonbek Umarkhodjaev, chairman of the board of Uzbekistan Airports, the company that manages the Central Asian republic's gateways, stated during the recent opening of a new cargo terminal at Tashkent airport.
Given 13.5 million passengers served in 2024, Uzbeki airports' passenger traffic could exceed 17 million this year.
And there are prerequisites for this - terminals are being expanded and reconstructed and airfields are being repaired.
Thus, on March 26, after the overhaul of its runway, the regional airport Shakhrisabz started to accept larger aircraft.
Also, on March 20, after a two-year hiatus, caused by full reconstruction and modernization of the airport complex, Andijan airport resumed regular flights operations.
Works on modernization of country’s main gateway - Tashkent - are underway. Currently the reconstruction of the arrival area is in full swing.
The work on extending the facade of the building is planned to be completed by July, to allow to mate the arrival and departure buildings into a single terminal complex later.
In the departure zone, a gallery is being completed along the terminal from the apron side, to allow installation of two additional airbridges.
Reconstruction in Tashkent has been underway since 2021, without disrupting airport operations. Since that, the terminals area has increased from 45,000 to 65,000 square meters. By the middle of 2026, when the project is expected to be completed, the area of the single terminal will exceed 100,000 square meters. Throughput capacity will increase from 1,200 passengers per hour to 2,400.
In 2024, Tashkent served 8.7 million passengers and 69,000 flights.
