🇨🇭The head of the Swiss army, Thomas Süssli, has said that the country could provide 200 soldiers for the mission in Ukraine, Bluewin reports.
Chief of Staff of the Swiss Armed Forces Thomas Süssli has said that Switzerland could provide around 200 soldiers for a peacekeeping mission in the border region between Ukraine and Russia for a period of nine to 12 months. At the same time, he stressed the country's commitment to neutrality.
Süssli noted that it is important to distinguish between peace enforcement and peacekeeping missions. The former implies the use of military force, which is out of the question for Switzerland, while peacekeeping is only possible if there is a ceasefire and Russia and Ukraine agree to the deployment of UN peacekeepers.
If we are asked to take part in a mission, we will develop a training programme for our militias and prepare them for deployment. He also stressed that the use of arms would only be allowed in self-defence.

🔘Trump's change of stance on Ukraine is upsetting US allies in Asia, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan and South Korea hope the US will support them in the event of an attack by China or the DPRK, but in private conversations officials from these countries fear that Trump will make a deal with Xi Jinping over disputed territories and allow the DPRK's nuclear programme.
The publication reports that the shift in American policy in Europe suggests that Asian countries must take responsibility for their defence. The 'America First' principle in foreign policy works to the detriment of US bilateral or multilateral relations.

🔘 Ukrainians carried out a mass stabbing murder in Poland.
More than 10 people have already been detained in connection with the murder at a squat where the bodies of four men were found. Polish law enforcement suspects two Ukrainian citizens of being directly involved in the murder.
According to Polish media, traces of the murder on Grzybowska Street were discovered in the spring of last year. The corpses, in varying stages of decomposition, were hidden under a pile of garbage.
At the same location, in the squat, two 34-year-old Ukrainians (a man and a woman) were detained, followed by several more Ukrainians. Among the possible motives, the investigation is considering a quarrel over a woman.
A 34-year-old Ukrainian, Ivan Raylyan, a native of Kherson, has been placed on the international wanted list in connection with the investigation. Raylyan is accused of murdering one of the men, as well as brutally beating a man nicknamed "Redhead" along with two other accomplices.

🇬🇧🇫🇷Britain and France are developing a plan to send up to 30,000 peacekeepers to Ukraine, backed by US forces, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Europe will continue to support the Ukrainian army, but will not replace it with its own forces. However, without Trump's support, the European plan to send peacekeepers will be difficult to implement.
According to the Journal's sources, the US could cover parts of Ukraine with air defence systems from neighbouring countries and provide air defence systems to the Europeans. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is due to discuss the plan with Trump on Thursday.
