Eradication meaning: the process of getting rid of something completely

This table and the fact that people believe this program's garbage informaton is a joke! If this is the meaning of eradication then why is the Richmond/South East Queensland region on this table? It shows that eradication has been 'underway' since 2001! The Port of Brisbane has been 'eradicated' 3 times since 2001 😂

The Serpent & the Poison is part of a 3 part series to be released internationally. Life in the red zone is a feature production within this series.

Chemical giants have coerced governmentsinto creating a red zone around two of Australia’s most fertile and fastest growing cities - Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This red zone is the epicentre for the world's largest chemical distribution programwhich has led to enormous biodiversity loss and the collapse of major ecosystems. The red zone includes ancient rainforests, crucial water supplies, major river systemsand fertile agricultural lands.

This is a David and Goliath battle as residents within the red zone rise to raise alarm bells on the dire consequences thathave been unfolding in the wake of this damaging program. We follow centralcharacters shell shocked after aerialbombing, invasion of rights, poisoning, dismissal, death of loved ones, pets and the decimation of surrounding wildlife and waterways.

The filmmaker, understanding the deep connections in our ecosystems, joins forces alongside the cast of dedicated warriors as they raise the alarm and fight for justice for our living waters.

Anyone who cares for country will want to see this film and change the course of history to stop this program in its tracks before these silent killers make their way through every essence of our environment.

📢 Attention South Murwillumbah, Wardell, and surrounding areas.

Thanks to your support and cooperation, we've successfully completed the initial response for the South Murwillumbah and Wardell fire ant outlier detections in 2024.

Fire ant eradication treatment is now underway, with ground teams in these areas working to eliminate this invasive pest from New South Wales – and ultimately Australia. 👏

Aerial treatment is due to begin next week (weather permitting). South Murwillumbah will be treated by helicopter and drone and take up to 3 days, and Wardell will be treated by drone and take 2 days.

Prepare for treatment and provide consent to access your property by completing a property information form online today 👉 fireants.org.au/pif

Its so sad that this poisoning is continuing. Remember you do not have to give consent so if they come to your door and you do not want treatment you have the right to refuse. I would suggest a written non consent or film yourself telling them that you do not consent.
If you see drones or helicopters poisoning the land please film them and record the times and check the weather. Record all weather conditions before and after poisoning occurs. If you notice they are poisoning around bad weather or when rain is due post it to the socials and write to the newspapers. If they won't stop the poisoning let's monitor everything they are doing and report it.
Fire ant eradication poisons spark public meeting, March 30 – The Echo

From Senator Malcolm Roberts:

Last Friday night, I attended a community meeting in Samford to listen to constituents concerned about the Fire Ant Eradication Program.

I shared with them that I had been involved since learning about the pollution of Dawson Creek and witnessing the destruction of the native habitat and pollution of the local waterways firsthand. I informed the audience that One Nation would continue to highlight these issues in the Senate and seek accountability for the overzealous application of poisons into local ecosystems, especially when no local environmental impact studies had been completed.

We heard of instances where program officers had bullied single women as their properties were invaded by strangers applying chemicals, even when reasonable excuses were provided that should have prevented the spread of chemicals onto their properties.

Several experts also attended, including Dr Connie Turni, who informed the group about the dangers of the chemicals to residents and fauna affected by the treatments.

We learned that the treatments had failed dismally since fire ants were first detected in South East Queensland in 2001, with around $1 billion wasted since then.

Non-chemical treatments, proven effective overseas, have been ignored to date.

Nobody wants fire ants, but the current program is failing, and alternatives need to be explored.

Below is the letter I sent to council after Mondays meeting:

Dear Meredith and Denise

Thank you for requesting and organising the meeting on Monday 17th March 2025 with the NFAEP and council. You efforts are much appreciated by the community. Thank you also to all those involved on the day. Please forward this email onto those representatives who attended the meeting as a record of what was discussed and for further follow up.

Representatives in attendance:
NFAEP : Marnie Manning
DPI: Tommy Wainwright and 2nd representative name unknown
Tweed city Council councillors:
Mayor Chris Cherry
Deputy Mayor Meredith Dennis
Councillor Kimberley Hone
Tweed City Council: Denise Galle
Byron Bay Council: Councillor David Warth

I have outlined some of the outcomes of the meeting held on Monday 17th March 2025 between the NFAEP, the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), Tweed City Council personnel including Councillors, Byron Bay City Councillor, and community representatives. Despite the many roadblocks, the meeting was very well attended (ie, the short notice given for the meeting, the horrendous storm the area had just been through, the time of day of meeting, one hour delay in getting the meeting started due to NFAEP presenter being stuck in traffic on the M1, the acquiring of registration and identification of attendees for a public meeting and the hiring of security).

Here are the main points raised and areas of follow up:

Councillor Kimberley Hone (KH) said she wants to make a centralised reporting as there is a ‘break in the chain’. She asked Marnie Manning (MM) if people who had lodged complaints or wish to lodge further complaints will be able to send these to herself or Deputy Councillor Meredith Dennis (MD) who would then pass this onto the NFAEP. This would then establish a link between council, NFAEP and community members (CM) for follow up for people who were not being responded to from agencies.

It was alleged by the NFAEP that protocols were set up to ensure that waterways were not impacted but many CM cited incidence of contamination following direct aerial dropping over such areas as: cane fields, private residential property, multiple waterways (including creeks, storm water drains, rivers, catchment zones, flood plains and water tanks). In one instance many saw the helicopter flying over the cane fields beside the Murwillumbah Showground on market day. One CM showed the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) where it explicitly stated in chemical manufacturers usage guidelines that it is NOT applied to waterways or canefields. There is concern that the chemical applied to the sugar cane has been absorbed, now harvested and the chemical is now in the food chain! MM was not able to respond to this and asked to report this to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The CM said he had already written to them. Another said that he had footage of helicopters going over waterway on the property next door to him. He told the NFAEP crew on the ground and they knew nothing about the waterway.

A CM said that she had been visited by the NFAEP crew 3 times (the last time with police) and each time she said she did not consent to them spraying her property. She then looked outside and saw that they were at the back of her property dropping grain against her will.  This raised the question of what defines ‘residential property’ and none of the representatives (from the Fire Ant Program or DPI) were able to address the specific aspect of the “legislation” / Biosecurity Act. It was stated that a concrete definition of what constitutes “residential” would be provided.

When asked what alternative treatments have been studied and compared with the current chemical treatment options, MM stated that the ‘hot water treatment’ has been trialled on ‘one occasion’ and had therefore been deemed ineffective. However they are looking at using this treatment near waterways.
21.03.202522:08
She also stated that one university is currently collaborating with the Fire Ant Program and that one other university has requested collaboration but has been denied due to ‘conflict of interests’.

Despite one community member (CM) leaving quite angrily after some shouting the meeting ended amicably with CM and the DPI representatives having further discussions outside and shaking hands.
It was unfortunate that many of the questions were not able to be answered by the NFAEP and DPI representatives as one would expect that they should be fully across their job description. This left the meeting CM feeling that the NFAEP and DPI were not being open and truthfully leading to scepticism.
This is just a slap in the face!!! Please visit them.
