Virginia Democrats Kill Senate Bill to Restore War Memorial Protection http://vaflaggers.blogspot.com/2025/01/virginia-democrats-kill-senate-bill-to.html
"We must nerve our hearts for the trial with a firm reliance on God. We must plant our feet firmly upon the platform of our unextinguishable hatred to the Northern Confederacy with determination to die rather than submit. What a mockery would such liberty be with submission. I, for one, though I stood alone in the Confederacy, without countenance or aid, would uphold the banner of Southern Independence as long as I had a hand left to grasp the staff, and then die before submitting." -- Jeb Stuart, who was born February 6, 1833
"As long as unselfish patriotism, Christian devotion and purity of character, and deeds of heroism shall command the admiration of men, Stonewall Jackson's name and fame will be reverenced." -- Jubal Early
"Slavery was not the true cause of the war. It was an element in the cause for the war, but it was not what the war was really fought about. The war was really fought about whether the federal government should dominate state government. In other words, it was basically states rights..."- Shelby Foote

Democrats in the Virginia Legislature have passed HB1699, which will unfairly yank the tax exempt status from several of Virginia’s honorable historical societies, including the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The bill is on its way to the governor's desk. He vetoed similar legislation last year. CONTACT Governor Youngkin TODAY and ask him to once again reject this vicious, partisan attack by democrats on our history, heritage, and first amendment rights, and VETO this bill!

Happy Groundhog Day

General Beauregard Lee, the South’s official weather prognosticator, did indeed see his shadow this morning. Six more weeks of winter for the South. 😳
Confederate 2nd Lieutenant Edward Alston Thorne Nicholson

37th North Carolina Infantry Regiment, Company E

Gave his life for Southern Independence on March 25, 1865 in a desperate charge on Fort Stedman in Petersburg, Virginia.

8 days later, his brother, Captain William Thorne Nicholson, of the same company, was also killed in the breakthrough of the fort. William had an approved leave in his pocket, but would not leave his men on the eve of battle.

They gave their last full measure in the last few weeks of the war. Patriots of the Cause of Independence.
