Most of the time we don't know the person's back story to whom we are judging and what led them down paths that eventually lead to total self-destruction. For most it is easier to keep getting high than it is to get your life together and take responsibility and accountability for your life decisions. But this always starts with unhealed trauma in our lives. We all have our demons that we struggle with daily.
So, just because you "overcame" something, that does not put you in a position to mock and belittle someone else who is in turmoil and despair. Instead of placing judgment, we should pray for these people. Pray that God breaks those chains of addiction and casts those demons out. As Christian's we need to lead by example, always doing everything coming from a place of understanding and love. It's a sad world we live in...
