With both U.S. and Chinese officials confirming that trade negotiations are not currently ongoing between the two countries, traders on Polymarket’s betting market are becoming less and less optimistic that a trade deal will be signed by June, with the chance of a deal before the end of May sitting at only 19%.
The Israel Defense Force has confirmed that IAF aircraft carried out strikes tonight against Houthi terror targets in Western Yemen, in response to a number of ballistic missile and drone attacks by the Houthis recently against Israel. During tonight’s strikes, fighter jets targeted the Port of Hodeidah as well as the Bajil Cement Factory in the Hodeidah Governorate, both of which function as major economic and industrial resources for the Houthis.
Barak Ravid of Axios, citing a senior U.S. official, has said that Israeli strikes against the Houthis in Yemen were carried out in concert with the United States.

According to an official in the Office of the Prime Minister, the operational plan approved last night by the Israeli Security Cabinet includes the full occupation of the Gaza Strip by the Israel Defense Force, similar to that of the West Bank.
According to Ynet, both of the U.S. Army Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Batteries deployed in Southern Israel as well as the “Arrow-2/3” Anti-Ballistic Missile System failed to intercept the long-range ballistic missile fired this morning by the Iranian-backed Houthis at Central Israel. Despite this, the Israeli Defense Ministry states that the ballistic missile which impacted near Tel-Aviv was not a new or advanced hypersonic variant not previously launched against Israel, as claimed by Houthi-affiliated media, with this same missile type being intercepted before by the Israel Defense Force.

According to officials, the U.S. did not directly participate in tonight’s strike operation by the Israeli Air Force against the Iranian-backed Houthis in Western Yemen, but that there was coordination between Israel and the United States.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced he had a call with Turkish President Recep Erdoğan today. The two leaders spoke on a number of different topics, including the ongoing Russo-Ukraine War, tensions in Syria, and the Israel-Hamas War in the Gaza Strip. Turkey has been a key broker between Russia and Ukraine and has also facilitated a number of negotiations, including the largely defunct Black Sea Grain Deal and a number of prisoner swaps. On the Syria/Gaza front, Turkey has been vocal against Israel’s war against Hamas, and tensions and accusatory rhetoric between the two powers has increased since the Turkish-backed group Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) overthrew gather Assad regime.
Following reports last year about ongoing discussions between the United States, Israel, and Ukraine about the transfer of several recently retired MIM-104 “Patriot” Surface-to-Air Missile Batteries to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The New York Times is now reporting that at least one of the “Patriot” Systems from Israel is being refurbished in the U.S. and will soon be transferred to Ukraine, while allies are discussing the transfer of another battery from either Germany or Greece. In January, a number of “unusual flights” by the U.S. Air Force were seen flying between Hatzerim Airbase in Southern Israel and Rzeszów in Eastern Poland, which was later revealed to be the transfer of at least 90 “Patriot” Missiles to Ukraine.

The Israeli Security Cabinet tonight voted unanimously to approve the expansion of ground operations in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement on retaliatory strikes “along Yemen’s coastline” in the past few hours. Port infrastructure in Hodeidah and other sites were struck, including the concrete plant reported on earlier that is responsible for “the construction of underground tunnels” like the Mt. Nuqum complex targeted during past U.S. strikes subordinate to Operation Rough Rider.

In a post last night on Truth Social, U.S. President Trump stated that he will be imposing a 100% tariff on any and all films coming into the United States that are produced in foreign countries, adding, “The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death. Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat. It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda! WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”

In his Meet the Press interview released earlier today, U.S. President Trump was asked during a discussion about immigration if he believed everyone in the United States, citizens or non-citizens, has a right to due process, to which he responded, “I don’t know, I’m not a lawyer.”  Before then being asked if as President he thinks he needs to uphold the Constitution of the United States, once again responding with, “I don’t know, I have brilliant lawyers that work for me, and they are obviously going to follow what the Supreme Court said.”
Following this morning’s ballistic missile attack against Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel-Aviv by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist group in Yemen. Speaking to reporters tonight aboard Air Force One, President Trump confirmed that he had recently offered to send U.S. troops into Mexico to take care of the Cartels, as was claimed on Saturday by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, adding, “If Mexico wanted help with the Cartels, we would be honored to go in and do it. I told her that I would be honored to go in and do it. The Cartels are trying to destroy our country - they’re evil!” President Trump was then asked if he was disappointed she refused his offer, to which he responded, “She's so afraid of the Cartels she can’t walk. The President of Mexico is a lovely woman, but she’s so afraid of the Cartels she can’t even think straight.”
U.S. President Donald J. Trump claimed in a post earlier tonight on Truth Social, that he has ordered the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen, rebuild, and enlarge the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary off the coast of San Francisco, “to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders.”

Not even considering the money and time it would require to get Alcatraz Island rebuilt in code with the Bureau of Prisons, if it ever even could be; Alcatraz is not operated by any of these agencies, instead being maintained by the National Park Service (NPS) as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area established by Congress.

Confusion and contradictions from the Trump administration during the ongoing nuclear talks between the United States and Iran continues, with U.S. President Trump stating during an interview released today with Meet the Press, that he will only accept the “total dismantlement” of Iran’s nuclear program, before adding, “I want Iran to be really successful, really great, really fantastic. The only thing they can't have is a nuclear weapon. If they want to be successful, that's okay. I want them to be so successful.” This call for total disarmament is in stark contrast to what Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior admin officials have been regularly stating, which is that Iran will be able to maintain a nuclear energy program in a future deal, only really seeking to limit Iran’s production and storage of long-range ballistic missiles as well as enriched uranium beyond 60%.
