Yesterday, on Sunday (April 6), the Anti-Imperialist Front held a presentation titled "Type SRY Prisons and Resistance" at the Pir Sultan Abdal Cultural Center in London.
The event began with a one-minute silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for Independence, Democracy, and Socialism.
Following that, with the accompaniment of slides, the tradition of Free Captives was narrated, starting from Mahir Çayan and onward. It was stated that this tradition, which grew from Mahir to "Dayı" [ nickname for the deceased leader of the DHKP-C ], has now evolved into the resistances in well-type isolation cells. A video titled Morg X, prepared by the Anti-Imperialist Front and based on letters from prisoners, was shown.
Afterward, Hüseyin Karaoğlan’s sister spoke about her brother’s resistance. The event continued with Rezzan Şengül’s victory speech and a recorded phone conversation with Mulla Zincir.
Şükriye Akar, the wife of prisoner Fikret Akar—one of those participating in the resistance that began on March 30—spoke about the solidarity action chain organized in support of the prisoners. She stated that Fikret still hasn't been provided with sugar or vitamin B1, and that thanks to international solidarity, sugar and vitamins have been sent to the well-Type prison in Çorlu from various places.
At the end of the presentation, 30 postcards were written to the prisoners involved in the resistance.
30 people attended the event.
