Yoav Gallant, the former Israeli defence minister, admits Hezbollah defeated Israel in southern Lebanon

He explained that while Netanyahu had been presenting an image of Israeli superiority over Hezbollah, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Israel was unable to make significant advances and failed to reach the heart of Hezbollah's true power. Even following the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah responded by launching hundreds of missiles deep into Israeli territory, showing that the loss of its leader had not disrupted the group's operations.

Gallant also highlighted the complexity of Hezbollah's leadership structure, which is composed of various networks and individuals. Israel has only identified a small fraction of them.

Gallant dismissed much of the media commentary on the subject as misleading or outright false.
