On April 3, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, arrived in Washington. The man dubbed “Putin’s investment kingpin” by the Western media came to promote peace talks between the Kremlin and the White House. The task is by no means easy. The warming relations between the two great powers have many critics.
It is hard to overestimate the importance of this trip. It is the first visit of a high-ranking Russian official to the United States since the beginning of the Special military operation on February 24, 2022.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) released on April 6 a video showing some of its recent strikes on the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
Separately, the military released a video showing the downing of a drone launched at Israel from Yemen by the Houthis (Ansar Allah) on April 4. The clip shows the drone being intercepted by an attack helicopter of the Israeli Air Force (IAF), most likely an AH-64 Apache.

Iran has issued notices to Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey and Bahrain that any support for an attack by the United States on its territory, including the use of their airspaces or territories by U.S. military, would be considered an act of hostility, Reuters reported on April 6, citing a senior Iranian official.
Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have been on the rise since President Donald Trump directly threatened the Islamic Republic last month with military action if it does not engage in direct talks on its nuclear program.

Another Israeli strike targeted southern Lebanon, the heartland of Hezbollah, on April 6, causing casualties and material losses.
The strike targeted two members of Hezbollah who were “operating an engineering vehicle” close to the town of Zibqin, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a brief statement.
While Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem warned in a recent speech that the group could soon respond to Israeli violations of the ceasefire, the group will not likely act on this warning.

Video footage showing Strela-10 short-range air defense systems of the Russian military engaging multiple Ukrainian drones surfaced online on March 30.
The systems are seen taking down at least six drones over different parts of the special military operation zone in the undated footage.
The Strela-10 was developed back in the Soviet Union by KB Tochmash. The latest versions of the system, the Strela-10M4 and MN – which is an upgrade for older M/M2/M3 versions-, are equipped with a thermal imaging system and an automatic target acquisition and tracking system.
