I get really uncomfortable when students glorify their teacher as if they’ve met some kind of language messiah.
Often, it’s the same teacher who brainwashes his or her students into thinking they are some sort of IELTS god. Like, sure, learning English is a great skill — no one denies that — but let’s not pretend speaking English alone is a divine achievement. It’s a language, not a personality.
While it’s perfectly fine to feel proud of your progress, it becomes toxic when your entire identity starts revolving around IELTS scores and teacher worship.
Learn English, use it well, but don’t lose your sense of self in the process.
