Brothers I'm making a post today honouring the strictness of my tradition, and reminding myself and others to focus on Christ. I've chosen today to start my series on keeping the Lord's Day in spite of both Laxism against our spirituality and against the subversions of the second and later centuries which gently saw other days (the inventions of men's hearts) lifted up and granted the esteem of the Christian Sabbath.

Let us commemorate this great saint today.
John Wycliffe (l. 1330 - 31 December 1384) was an English theologian, priest, and scholar, recognized as a forerunner to the Protestant Reformation in Europe. Wycliffe condemned the practices of the medieval Church, citing many of the same abuses that would later be addressed by other reformers. He is best known for translating the Bible into Middle English.

There is no day commanded in scripture to be kept holy under the gospel but the Lord’s day, which is the Christian Sabbath.
Festival days, vulgarly called Holy-days, having no warrant in the word of God, are not to be continued.
Nevertheless, it is lawful and necessary, upon special emergent occasions, to separate a day or days for publick fasting or thanksgiving, as the several eminent and extraordinary dispensations of God’s providence shall administer cause and opportunity to his people.

Jonathan Edwards (born October 5, 1703, East Windsor, Connecticut [U.S.]—died March 22, 1758, Princeton, New Jersey) was the greatest theologian and philosopher of British American Puritanism, stimulator of the religious revival known as the “Great Awakening,” and one of the forerunners of the age of Protestant missionary expansion in the 19th century.

LAN Associates provided architectural and engineering services to Hudson Valley United Reformed Church (HVURC) for the design and construction of a new two-story, 11,500 sf timber frame church in Waywayanda, New York. The new HVURC was designed to be characteristic of a traditional New England style church implementing a combination of conventional framing and heavy timber frame structural elements.
The sanctuary space is organized along a main center axis with seating capacity for 250 parishioners. A Narthex and Fellowship Hall provide additional gathering spaces that promote social interaction amongst parishioners before and after religious ceremonies. The Church is built into a hillside offering multiple access points and ADA accessibility at each level, including the lower level which is utilized for Sunday school classrooms.
