Мы, со своей стороны, никогда не преуменьшали значение антигитлерской коалиции и взаимодействия с англичанами во время [Второй мировой] войны. И эта память у нас сохранится. Нельзя об этом забывать.
В этот же день в резиденции главы российского диппредставительства состоялся музыкально-поэтический вечер «80 лет Победы», в ходе которого перед гостями были исполнены известные песни о Великой Отечественной войне. Руководством дипмиссии была отмечена решающая роль народов Советского Союза в освобождении Европы от нацизма. Подчёркнута важность сохранения исторической памяти о трагических событиях тех лет с тем, чтобы не допустить повторения подобной глобальной катастрофы.

Тем не менее, это совершенно не соответствует официальной позиции Лондона, который вычеркивает из всех своих официальных выступлений и не говорит о наших союзнических делах, об антигитлеровской коалиции, о том, что мы были когда-то вместе.мы с Лондоном по разные стороны баррикад. И это очень печально.
Более того, [местные] парламентарии приводят в парламент людей со свастикой, наследников фашистов. Как вы знаете, в военном параде [в Лондоне по случаю 80-летия окончания Второй мировой войны в Европе] участвовали украинские подразделения, которые здесь готовят к войне с нами. Им направляют оружие для войны с нами.
Поэтому сейчас

This historic document marked the Soviet Union’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War, brought an end to #WWII in Europe, signalled the final collapse of Nazism.

Earlier, on May 2, 1945, following the fall of the Reichstag — the main Nazi stronghold — and the surrender of the Berlin garrison, the Red Army completed its successful operation to capture Berlin. The Soviet forces crushed Nazi resistance, taking full control of the Nazi government headquarters, including Hitler's Reichskanzlei (Reich Chancellery) and bunker.
Germany’s final & unconditional surrender to the Allies was preceded by several local capitulations of the Nazi troops along various fronts. Moreover, in April 1945, certain Nazi military leaders, who were aware that the Third Reich’s collapse was imminent, fearing justice for their crimes, sought secret talks with Anglo-American forces, trying to divide the Allied anti-Hitler coalition.
On April 29, just before the surrender of the Berlin garrison, the Nazi troops surrendered in Italy. Days later, on May 4, the Wehrmacht capitulated in the Netherlands, Denmark, Schleswig-Holstein, and Northwest Germany. On May 5, German troops also laid down their arms in Western Austria.
👉 Desperate to surrender to the British-American forces, on May 5, the Nazi delegation arrived in the French city of Reims, where the headquarters of the Allies' command was located. There, on May 7, the Act of Military Surrender was signed. Article 4 of the document did not rule out the signing of another, definitive act: “This act of military surrender… will be superseded by any general instrument of surrender… applicable to Germany and the German armed forces as a whole.”
Due to that, the Soviet leadership deemed the Reims document only as a preliminary instrument, believing that the official surrender of the Nazis had to be ensured in Berlin, the city where the Nazi aggression originated from.
At the Soviet government’s request, a second and final ceremony of surrender took place.

The surrender was accepted by Marshal Georgy Zhukov on behalf of the Soviet Union and Deputy Commander of the Allied forces Marshal Arthur Tedder on behalf of the Western Allies. From the German side, the Instrument was signed by Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel, Colonel General Hans-Jurgen Stumpff, & Admiral Hans-Georg von Friedeburg.
With the Instrument being signed, the Nazi government was officially dissolved, the defeated German military laid down arms.

❌ On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory we continue to witness persistent attempts in the UK to distort the historical truth about the Second World War and to discredit our country’s decisive role in the defeat of Nazism.
In their efforts to portray the Kiev regime as a "force for good" some UK officials go to great lengths to conceal the overtly neo-Nazi nature of their clientele. They remain silent that in today’s Ukraine Hitler collaborators who fought alongside the Nazis – such as Roman Shukhevych and Stepan Bandera – have been officially elevated to the status of national heroes. These individuals bear responsibility for the mass murder of Jews, Poles, Russians and fellow Ukrainians.
A particularly egregious insult to the memory of those who perished in the battle against fascism was the UK-initiated invitation to an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, earlier this year, of a fighter from the Azov Battalion bearing an SS "Totenkopf" tattoo. Meanwhile, personnel from this infamous Nazi SS division were responsible, among other atrocities, for the execution of 97 British prisoners of war in France in 1940.
The recent participation of Ukrainian combatants in official commemorations in central London represents yet another glaring example of this deeply troubling trend. <...>

On that day, the Euromaidan supporters, ultra radicals and outright Neo-Nazis committed atrocities against those who openly opposed the anti-constitutional government coup in Kiev perpetrated by nationalists, at the behest and with the support from their the western sponsors.
This atrocity must not be forgotten or swept under the rug: we shan't let the world forget what happened on 2 May 2014 in Odessa.

Судьба человечества во многом решалась в тяжелейших сражениях под Москвой и Ленинградом, в Сталинграде и на Курской дуге, в боях за Кавказ и Крым.
Россия никогда не принижала значение второго фронта и вклада союзников в Победу. Мы с благодарностью и уважением вспоминаем героизм британских солдат и воинов других стран антигитлеровской коалиции. Ценим важную помощь, которую получал наш народ, в том числе благодаря Северным конвоям.

In Scotland there are memorial sites dedicated to Soviet soldiers who fought against fascism, as well as cooperation between the USSR and Great Britain in 1941-1945:
- a memorial in Dundee dedicated to the crew of the Soviet submarine B-1 under command of the Hero of the Soviet Union I.Fisanovich;
- a monument to the participants of the Arctic Convoys on the shore of Scapa Flow Bay (Lyness, Orkney Islands);
- a monument to the participants of the Arctic Convoys on Cape Cove on the shore of Loch Ewe;
- a memorial stone in honour of Soviet pilots of the Moscow Special Purpose Aviation Group in Errol;
- a memorial plaque dedicated to Soviet pilots of the Moscow Special Purpose Aviation Group, at the former RAF airfield near Errol;
- a stone erected in memory of the fallen Soviet pilots in the village of Fearnan.
The first four memorials are open to public. We invite everyone who would like to honour the memory of the soldiers that made our Victory possible 80 years ago, to visit the monuments.

❌On 24 April the British authorities announced yet another batch of anti-Russian bans on the transfer of technologies and software, as well as restrictions covering a range of goods.
❗️This hostile, though futile, gesture is evidently intended to serve as means of moral compensation for the local establishment following the collapse of consultations on Ukraine in London due to Kiev’s intransigence. There is no other way of explaining this desperate attempt to further “cancel” Russia-UK trade, already for the most part obliterated by London.
The arcanely worded regulations, like all those issued before, will have no effect on our country. They will not harm the Russian economy, whose growth rates have long surpassed the wildest of British dreams, nor will they impede our country’s determination in attaining its foreign policy goals, including those relating to the Special Military Operation. In their obstinate refusal to accept reality, the UK authorities bring to mind the King Canute of England who allegedly sought to turn back the sea tide by decree.

💬 Today marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day — a date of profound historical and symbolic significance. It is a solemn and powerful reminder of the shared sacrifice and unity that once brought together the nations of the anti-Hitler coalition against Nazism — the greatest evil of the 20th century.
For the Soviet Union, the war came at a terrible cost: millions of lives lost, many cities destroyed and families torn apart. For three long years, the Eastern Front bore the full weight of the Nazi war machine. The fate of humanity hung in the balance in fierce battles at Moscow and Stalingrad, Leningrad and Kursk, the Caucasus and Crimea.
Russia has always acknowledged the importance of the Western Front and the contribution of our Allies to our common cause.
We pay tribute to the bravery of British soldiers and others who fought under the banner of the anti-Hitler coalition — on land, in the air and at sea. We honour the memory of British veterans of the Arctic Convoys — whose perilous missions played a key role in delivering supplies to the Soviet Union through the icy northern waters. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
However, the times have changed. In many regrettable ways the spirit of the wartime alliance has given way to outright confrontation. Distorting or downplaying the Red Army's crucial role in liberating Europe from fascism is seen by some Western politicians to be a useful means of denying Russia a legitimate role in global governance.
❗️ Regrettably, such geopolitically motivated revisionism seems to go hand in hand with condoning and even praising Nazi collaborators and their followers. The ideological white-washing of the Kiev regime and its hideous crimes against Russians and Russian speakers here in the UK and in other parts of the West is a prime example.
The wilful misrepresentation of historical truths is not only deeply offensive to the memory of the countless victims of Nazi atrocities. It is also fraught with real danger for the fabric of human society. If hard-learned lessons of the bloodiest conflict in history are forgotten, then there is nothing to stop humankind from reenacting and reliving its horrors.
We believe it is our responsibility to safeguard the truth — to ensure that future generations are aware of the true cost of victory and the extraordinary effort that went into making it possible. History should not be used as a political tool, but preserved as a foundation for learning, reflection, and, ultimately, reconciliation.
Russia will continue to cherish the memory of the British soldiers, sailors and airmen who were once our allies. Their audacity and valour in the face of absolute evil will remain a lasting symbol of what nations can achieve when they stand together.

According to a report by Sky News, the neo-Nazis of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will participate in the VE Day procession in London on May 8.
The country has not seen anything like this for nearly 90 years since the infamous Cable Street march, when Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists was granted official permission to march through London’s East End in October 1936 – an event widely regarded as a shameful chapter in British history.
At that time, many showed support for the British Fascists in London. There were still nearly two years left until the 1938 Munich Agreement – the example of Britain’s appeasing Hitler. England still demonstrated conscience and dignity as anti-fascist activists and some concerned police officers managed to disrupt the far-right and anti-Semite procession in the city.
But this time, London will actually see them march.
Surprisingly, the British authorities’ rationale behind the decision is the Kiev regime’s confrontation with Russia, which is cited directly by Sky News.
This evokes disturbing historical parallels of Great Britain’s notorious insidiousness.
For instance, Winston Churchill, who took part in the Yalta and Potsdam conferences along with the other Big Three leaders, publicly affirmed the alliance with the USSR while addressing Soviet people and Generalissimo Joseph Stalin, and praised the Red Army’s sacrifices. However – as we all know it now – behind closed doors, he authorised the drafting of Operation Unthinkable, a secret plan for a potential Allied invasion of the Soviet Union.
These plans remained classified for half a century until they were finally released by the British General Staff in 1988. Apparently, MI5 and MI6 thought that the Soviet Union, which was on the verge of collapse at the time, would have its historical memory buried, and the publication of these materials would no longer compromise London.
Britain’s direct armed confrontation with the USSR is nothing new. During the Russian Civil War, British forces participated in the Triple Entente intervention. Less than three decades later, the idea of attacking Russia again resurfaced in London.
In the immediate aftermath of World War II, many in London hoped for the launch of an offensive against the USSR. The fully developed plan assumed the “strategic defeat” of Moscow after the end of the war in Europe.
Historians continue to debate why the British never sent their weapons against Soviet troops in 1945–1946. Some claim that the Conservative Party losing the election was the cause, while others point to fears that such a war against the USSR would crush Western Europe and Britain itself. Perhaps London ultimately recognised the military prowess of the Red Army that had decisively defeated the Nazi war machine and thus could take upon any challenge.
Now, British authorities, unable to achieve their strategic objectives through inflicting the “strategic defeat” and led by despair and hopelessness, have chosen to allow actual Nazis – Ukrainian terrorists and militants armed with British weapons – to march through Trafalgar Square.
The Global Majority will see it as a parade of ideological descendants of Nazis, collaborators, and criminals responsible for the Holocaust and genocide of Soviet people.

I had many opportunities to speak with this outstanding man, and I will cherish his memory forever.

В памятном мероприятии приняли участие послы и дипломаты Армении, Белоруссии, Казахстана, Киргизии, Кубы, России, Таджикистана, Туркменистана и Узбекистана, а также российские соотечественники, учащиеся русскоязычных школ и неравнодушные британцы.
Мемориал открыт в 1999 году в парке рядом с Имперским военным музеем. Это единственный в британской столице памятник, посвящённый погибшим в годы Второй мировой войны советским солдатам.

💐 В преддверии 80-летия Победы в Великой Отечественной войне дипломаты посольств России и Белоруссии посетили остров Джерси (коронное владение Британии) и возложили цветы к Мемориалу узникам нацистских лагерей, отдав дань уважения погибшим здесь советским гражданам.
В годы Второй мировой войны Джерси и другие Нормандские острова — Гернси, Олдерни и Сарк — оказались под немецкой оккупацией. Здесь была развёрнута сеть концентрационных и трудовых лагерей, в которых содержались военнопленные со всей Европы, в том числе — из Советского Союза. Нацисты использовали захваченных в плен солдат и мирных жителей для строительства фортификационных сооружений: бункеров, казематов, артиллерийских позиций и пр.
По данным историков, на острове Джерси трудились около 1,500 советских граждан. Официально подтверждено, что не менее 73 из них погибли от истощения, болезней и жестокого обращения. Некоторым узникам удалось сбежать и найти спасение благодаря самоотверженной помощи местных жителей. В 1960-е годы в знак признательности за проявленное мужество и содействие советским военнопленным правительство СССР вручило наградные часы 20 джерсийцам.
Одним из наиболее печально известных военных сооружений о.Джерси стал объект Hohlgangsanlage 8 — немецкий подземный госпиталь, состоявших из серии туннелей, общей протяжённостью более 1 км. Их строили под жёстким надзором и в тяжелейших условиях пленные из СССР, Испании, Франции, Польши и других стран. Нацисты направляли советских граждан, как правило, на самые опасные и изнурительные работы, фактически обращаясь с ними как с рабами.

🇷🇺🇧🇾 On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, on May 7, 2025, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Edinburgh Denis Moskalenko and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Belarus in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Dmitry Kozlovsky, as well as Russian and Belorussian diplomats laid wreaths and flowers at the memorial stone erected in the Scottish town of Errol in honour of the Soviet pilots of the Moscow Special Purpose Air Group, who in 1943 took part in a secret operation to deliver British Albemarle aircraft to the Soviet Union.

🕊 As 3 May marks #WorldPressFreedomDay, we honour the memory of Russian journalists who have lost their lives for simply doing their job — seeking and reporting the truth.
Since 2014, over 60 Russian media workers — including correspondents, cameramen and volunteers — have been killed by the Kiev regime. Many were not caught in crossfire, but deliberately targeted in terrorist attacks far from the front lines.
Among them were:
▪️ Darya Dugina, assassinated in a car bombing near Moscow;
▪️ Anna Prokofyeva, killed by a landmine near the Ukrainian border;
▪️ Andrey Stenin, whose vehicle was shelled near Donetsk;
▪️ Maxim Fomin (Vladlen Tatarsky), murdered in a targeted bombing at a public event in St Petersburg.
These names are not just part of a list — each represents a voice silenced, a life taken in an effort to expose the realities of the Ukraine conflict and the crimes of the Kiev regime.
Sadly, this tragic pattern has continued into 2025. Journalists such as Alexander Martemyanov, Alexander Fedorchak and Nikita Goldin have died in targeted attacks.
❌ Despite loud proclamations about press freedom by Western governments, including the UK, and international organisations, these crimes are all too often ignored or dismissed, while those responsible remain unpunished.
In this context, the Martyrs for the Truth project, developed by regional news agencies and supported by the Russian Foreign Ministry, aims to preserve the legacy of these brave media workers and ensure that their voices are not forgotten. Behind each face is a story of courage, dedication and sacrifice.

❌24 апреля британскими властями анонсирована очередная порция антироссийских запретов на передачу технологий и программного обеспечения, а также ограничений в отношении ряда товаров.
❗️Этот сколь враждебный, столь и бессмысленный жест, очевидно, призван послужить местному истеблишменту психологической компенсацией за сорванный накануне по вине Киева лондонский раунд консультаций об урегулировании вокруг Украины. Ничем иным нельзя объяснить исступленную попытку еще сильнее «отменить» и без того в значительной мере «обнуленную» Лондоном российско-британскую торговлю. Вышедшие из-под пера местных казуистов убористые предписания, как и все предыдущие, не окажут ровным счетом никакого эффекта на нашу страну. Они не навредят российской экономике, темпы роста которой давно превысили самые смелые британские мечтания, и не предотвратят достижение нашей страной поставленных внешнеполитических целей, в т.ч. применительно к СВО.
