Dacă ești pasionat de folclorul muzical românesc, cu siguranță ți s-a întâmplat să asculți piese ce ți s-au părut interpretate la un fluier. Dar îți vom spune că nu tot timpul se întâmplă ca acel instrument să fie fluier.

Tilinca este un instrument cu un timbru foarte asemănător fluierului din registrul acut, care datează de mii de ani. Dar ce diferă între ele este tehnica sau modul de utilizare, căci dacă fluierul are 6 găuri, tilinca nu are nicio gaură în afară de cea de la capăt, pe care, astupând-o, se schimbă ușor înălțimea (coborând o notă). Pe columna lui Traian se poate observa un personaj care cântă la un instrument ce reiese a fi foarte asemănător cu tilinca.

Piesa de față, Șindrilițeană, este interpretată la tilincă.
